DC Drive-By Suspects Sought; Concerns About Retaliation

WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- D.C. Police are still searchingfor the suspects in Monday's drive-by shooting that wounded 13 people in North Capitol.

On Tuesday, a D.C. Councilmember Tommy Wells said he's worried about retaliation escalating the violence.

"Oh man, my son, he was crying, Daddy, Daddy," said Darius Day.

Tyler House residents like Darius Day say they're living on edge, worried that this drive-by shooting could lead to more violence.

"Very concerned about any retaliation."

Councilmember Wells came to Tyler House to reassure residents that solving this crime is the city's top priority. But even the Councilmember admits they've got few leads.

"Very impressive how little is known about what happened," he said.

Police spent Tuesday executing search warrants on at least two cars that might have been used in the shooting. But so far, no arrests and no motive.

"We've had a number of car break-ins. We've had a number of robberies and events around the two nightclubs and... I'm definitely going to do my best to remove the nightclubs from this area," Councilmember Wells said.

The nightclubs sit right in the middle of this up and coming NOMA neighborhood. On this side, the North Capitol Street side where Tyler House is located, is where the shooting took place. But on the other side you've got a lot of new development, new residential and office spaces.

Councilmember: Close NoMa nightclubs

WASHINGTON -- A District council member is speaking out after more than a dozen people were injured in a drive-by shooting early Monday morning.

"I'm definitely going to do my best to remove the nightclubs from the area," says Tommy Wells, speaking about the nightclubs Fur and Ibiza.

The clubs are located within a block of where 13 people were injured on North Capitol Street. No one was killed in the incident.

Police have not determined whether the shooting was related to club patrons or whether it involved a dispute between rival neighborhoods. But Wells says regardless, the area has become too residential to support such establishments.

"Releasing 2,000 to 3,000 to 4,000 people between the two clubs at night really does have a major impact on an area that's no longer industrial," he says.

Wells is the chairman of D.C.'s public safety committee.

It was once one of Norwichs best-loved nightclubs but Ricks Place in Anglia Square closed nearly 10 years ago.

Now the building has been brought back to life as an events venue.

New leaseholders Steve Brookes and Joan Bush have overseen a 30,000 makeover of the site, now called Twilight, and its set to reopen a week tomorrow with the official launch with special guests two days later.

The club has undergone a full refurbishment and now has three bars, two rooms and a Function 1 sound system, said to be one of the few in Norwich.

The club has previously traded under various names including Ricks Place, Destiny, Deja Vu and Scamps, and was very popular before the hub of the citys night life moved to Prince of Wales Road and the Riverside complex.

It was called Destiny when it closed in 2004 following complaints over disorderly behaviour and underage drinking.

It had previously been known as Scamps, which opened in the summer of 1973. Ricks Place, named after Humphrey Bogarts club in the film Casablanca, arrived in the 1980s and became a popular haunt for the regions youth.

Sarah Harding uncut: I’m now a Country Girl Aloud

Party-loving Girls Aloud star Sarah Harding is swapping her stiletto heels for wellies as she curbs her wild ways.

Pop beauty Sarah, 31, was a regular at exclusive nightclubs but is now just as happy digging her cabbage patch at her countryside home.

She has found love with DJ Mark One and, having uprooted herself from Primrose Hill in north London, could not be more pleased.

She is also hugely excited about her forthcoming movie, Run For Your Wife, and acting alongside Dame Judi Dench, who she described as amazing.

Sarah told the Sunday People : Im very happy right now, Im definitely in a good place. Ive met a new boyfriend.

Sarah moved to rural Buckinghamshire, where she now lives with her two dogs.

She said: I appreciated my time in London, there was so much to do but there is a big part of me that loves to come home, do nothing and put the fire on, watch Come Dine With Me on TV and cook some dinner.

I love cooking, Ive even got a vegetable patch in my garden now which is very mature.

I love being in the countryside and being away from it all and living a quiet life, unlike before.

Sarah has certainly grown up since shooting to fame with Girls Aloud 10 years ago.

Following up on the story we posted Thursday about the new DJ wars in Las Vegas and the mind-boggling megabucks contracts comes news that MGM Grand intends to throw its own Electronic Dance Music festival.

And those numbing numbers of $20 million over two years I reported for the spinmeisters of steel were apparently on the low side! Thanks to my pal David Morris at DailyFiasco.com for helping update our first revelations.

The news I uncovered was apparently set to be revealed at the Grammy Awards in February, with two of Hakkasan at MGM Grands new resident DJs performing. Daily Fiasco is reporting that MGM Grand is partnering with Angel Management Group for a series of EDM arena concerts that will feature the new Hakkasan stars and include Tiesto, Steve Aoki and Calvin Harris alongside Deadmau5.

I apparently underreported the staggering Deadmau5 paychecks. Yes, it is a two-year deal with his shows earning him $425,000 each -- with sometimes two a day, at Wet Republic and Hakkasan, and in the MGM Arena for an astonishing $850,000.
