Benjamin Netanyahu’s son rips growth of Black Lives Matter and Antifa on US campuses – Washington Examiner

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's eldest son ripped "neo nazis scums" in a Facebook post Wednesday, but also took leftist "thugs" to task in his response to the violent rally in Charlottesville, Va.

"To put things in perspective. I'm a Jew, I'm an Israeli, the neo nazis scums in Virginia hate me and my country. But they belong to the past. Their breed is dying out," Yair Netanyahu said.

The 26-year-old echoed President Trump's sentiments, saying radical leftist groups such as Black Lives Matter and Antifa have become mainstream on America's college campuses.

"The thugs of Antifa and BLM who hate my country (and America too in my view) just as much are getting stronger and stronger and becoming super dominant in American universities and public life," he continued in his post.

Sources close to the prime minister told the Times of Israel that "Yair is an adult and his views are his alone."

Benjamin Netanyahu faced criticism for remaining largely silent in the immediate aftermath of the attack that claimed the lives of two state police officers and 32-year-old Heather Heyer. He later responded in a tweet condemning expressions of anti-Semitism.

"Outraged by expressions of anti-Semitism, neo-Nazism and racism. Everyone should oppose this hatred," Netanyahu tweeted Tuesday.

Netanyahu's Likud Party has roundly supported Trump's stance that there is "blame on both sides" for the violent demonstration, despite consternation Trump has faced from lawmakers within his own party.

"Violence and extremism on any side is forbidden and demands condemnation. That doesn't matter to the bleeding hearts on the Left and in the media. After all, they believe that only the Right is extremist and violent," Likud Knesset Member Oren Hazan said.

Former Netanyahu opponent Tzipi Lvini struck a more critical tone of Trump's statements, arguing neo-Nazism should not be equated with leftist counter-protesters.

"When it comes to racism, anti-Semitism and Nazism, there are never two equal sides. There's good and there's evil. Period," Lvini, a Zionist Union MK, said in a statement Wednesday.
