Tim Tebow spoke with media at George M. Steinbrenner Field on Thursday night, before his team, the St. Lucie Mets, played the Tampa Yankees. Here is how it went.

Q: Have you ever played in Tampa, in any sport? Isn't your mom from Tampa?

Tebow: "Yes, Plant (High). And my grandma lived here until she passed away. I know I played here in a lot of baseball tournaments when I was young. But we didn't play in any state championships (here). Never played in the Bucs stadium."

Q: Do you enjoy meeting the fans you're drawing to games?

Tebow: "It's always nice to have support from fans or fans come out here and try to get entertained in a ballgame. But it's honestly not something that I really try to worry about or pay much attention to. I just try to stay focused on playing the game, having fun, and then if you get an opportunity to see the fans and say thanks, that's good as well."

Q: Is it an added bonus that you're playing in the Florida State League, in the state where you were raised?

Tebow: "Florida is home for me. I get to see family a lot more. I get to see friends a lot more. Just knowing people all over the state, it's nice to be able to catch up, so that's pretty cool."

Q: How committed are you to pursuing baseball until the end of the season, given your responsibilities to ESPN and the SEC Network?

Tebow: "I feel if you look at my actions and what I've been doing, I feel pretty committed."

Q: Will you play next season?

Tebow: "Yes, sir."

Q: Talk about the minor league grind.

Tebow: "The minor league grind, it isn't as much of a grind in this league as the last one, because of the traveling. But it's really not much of a grind if you really enjoy what you're doing every day. I try to have the mindset of remembering why I play the game and how fun it is every day, enjoy every moment and not just think about 'we're just going through the motions' or 'it's another BP,' or it's another long-toss session, but actually remember why I'm doing it and have fun. I think that takes away the edge of it being a grind and being a daily routine and just lets you have fun."

Q: You've been struggling at the plate lately. Have you hit a wall?

Tebow: "I just think facing good pitchers and also some days it just doesn't go through for you, too. I don't think I ever want to get comfortable to where I feel I'm in a rhythm, because this is the ultimate goal, you want to keep continuing to improve. I'm continually changing things, too, in my swing and rhythm and my timing in things, so sometimes when you're working on things, you might have to take a step back to a couple of steps forward when you get it done."

Q: What do you think about your critics, those who want you to fail?

Tebow: "I don't spend a lot of time thinking about it. If people want you to fail, then there are probably other things that are the root issue of that, and it's not me. I want to be someone who's a believer. A believer, first and foremost, in my God. A believer in my teammates, my abilities, why I'm here. A believer in people. I want to bring the best out of people, bring the most out of people, whether it's in relationships with my family, friends, everybody.

"You want to be someone who uplifts people. I want people's lives to be better because I'm in their life. I don't want their lives to be worse because I'm in it. That's something I take into every relationship, everything that I do. It doesn't matter that I'm talking to you right now. Hopefully, your day is better because of how I answered your questions. Hopefully, my teammates are better because of the way I'm going to go out and stretch with them for a minute. Everything you do, you have a chance for influence, which is one of the greatest things we can do in life, have influence over other people."

Q: Who was your biggest influence in convincing you to try baseball?

Tebow: "My dad. No question. He's probably the biggest influence on my life from when I was a little boy. He has the most passion and courage. He's the bravest person I ever met. He has given his life to helping people every single day. He just got back from Southeast Asia two nights ago. He's the man."

Q: You're about to turn 30. Do you feel 30?

Tebow: "I feel very young. I feel like a kid because I'm playing a kid's game."

Q: Did you see Michael Jordan play baseball in Jacksonville when you were young? Do you think you have something in common with him?

Tebow: "No. I would've loved to have seen him play. I don't know if we have something in common. We have a competitive itch that you have, and there's also a drive, that you don't want to live with the regret of why you didn't do something because of the thought of failure. I think that's something that hampers a lot of people, and it holds people back because they're afraid of the unknown, they're afraid of tomorrow, they're afraid of what people are going to say, they're afraid of what you all are going to say.

"And because of that, a lot of people won't strive for something. Striving and failing is not the worst thing. But one day, when you're looking back and you're 50 and you're thinking, 'Man, I wish I would have tried this and this,' in my opinion, that would be a pretty big regret."

Q: What do you want to say to your doubters?

Tebow: "I don't really have a message, because I don't have to let those people control me. They don't control my actions, what I get to do or how I treat people. I'm so thankful for that. That I get to pursue my dreams and my passions, to live out my life. You don't have to let other people control you."

Srinagar, Aug 10: Stating that some social networking news groups are spreading false and fake news in the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Police Chief Thursday said that police is to initiate strong action against all such groups. Anti peace elements are using the social media as a tool to foment bloodshed and violence in the valley. Unfortunately some whatsapp news groups are also spreading false and fake news. The CID department will soon identify and initiate legal action against such groups and that the process in this regard has already been initiated, the DGP S. P Vaid said. He said that social media is playing a big role in radicalizing young people in the Kashmir Valley. We have received the reports that the social media is being used by groups and stone-throwers in the Valley to exploit the sentiments of people, he maintained. He said internet services in the Valley had to be suspended to prevent the spread of disinformation. It has been seen that the people are posting anything they want on WhatsApp groups. It is unfortunate that they dont understand the repercussions of spreading the misinformation, the DGP maintained. He said that the police will constitute dedicated teams to counter the anti-national propaganda on the social media. Meanwhile sources said that Intelligence agencies have singled out WhatsApp groups allegedly involved in mobilizing stone-throwers in the Valley. The Intelligent Agencies have identified WhatsApp groups which provoke the crowd and orchestrate stone-throwers to interfere with anti-militant operations, sources in the intelligence agencies said. As per sources, the analysis of mobile phones by intelligence agencies have revealed that creators, administrators and some members of the WhatsApp groups were based in Pakistan. In April this year, the authorities blocked hundreds of WhatsApp groups for instigating violence in the Valley. (KNS)

Police to initiate tough action against social networking news groups spreading fake news: DGP - Kasmir Monitor

WAYNESBORO A lawsuit was filed Tuesday against an Augusta County Sheriff's investigator accused of violating the constitutional rights of a man charged in Waynesboro with distribution of methamphetamine.

The suit against Sheriff's investigator Michael Roane was filedon Tuesdayby Nexus Caridades, a law firm sponsored by the Verona-based Nexus Services.

The suit says that dating back to 2011, Roane has harassed Loren Varner and more recently violated his Fourth Amendment rights. During a Jan. 11, 2017 search outside of a Waynesboro restaurant, the suit said Varner was forced to empty his pockets and have his body searched by Roane, and a drug dog was used to search Varner's truck. The suit said this occurred after Varner had gone to the restaurant to eat.

According to the suit, a handler of the drug dog slapped Varner's truck, causing the dog to falsely alert on the truck and serve as probable cause for a search of the truck.

The suit said the search of Varner's truck produced no drugs or material related to drugs. Roane asked Varner to submit to a breath analysis, and Varner refused. Varner was not arrested or charged in the Jan. 11 encounter.

The suit seeks damages and attorney fees against Roane for what it calls Fourth Amendment unreasonable search and seizure violations stemming from the search of Varner's truck and the allegedly false drug alert'' of the dog on the man's truck.

The suit also mentions that Varner was charged in connection with a May 6, 2016 incident involving a sting by a drug task force that included Roane.

According to court records, Varner was charged in Waynesboro in 2016 with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The charge carries a 20-year minimum jail sentence upon conviction.

Waynesboro Police Capt. Mike Martin said he found the suspect with nearly two pounds of meth, and arrested him as a result of a joint investigation with Roane. The trial date for Varner is scheduled for Sept. 5.

Nexus CEO Mike Donovan said he hopes the case shines a light on the potential for Fourth Amendment violations by police.

The Fourth Amendment means absolutely nothing if officers believe they can fraudulently manufacture probable cause, Donovan said. This officer has a track record of these type of allegations, and the people of Augusta County deserve better."

Donovan was referring to a second case in which Roane is also a defendant. The federal lawsuit filed in June by Nexus Caridades on behalf of Desiree Watford of Fishersville charges Fourth Amendment and Fourteenth Amendment constitutional violations.

Roane, and a Sheriff's deputy identified as John Doe, are accused of an unlawful seizure and arrest of Watford.

Previously, Roane was a defendant along with Augusta County Sheriff Donald Smith in a $1.2 million federal lawsuit filed by Nexus. That suit, filed by Nexus Services in 2016, charged law enforcement officers with harassing and violating the constitutional rights of Nexus employees, including Donovan. Nexus, however, dropped that lawsuit in March.

Attempts to reach Augusta County Smith about the most recent lawsuiton Wednesdaywere not successful.

Augusta Sheriff's investigator sued for alleged Fourth Amendment violations - The Daily Progress

A new report states categorically that the Democratic National Committee (DNC) was not hacked by Russiansor anyone elseas frequently alleged by the mainstream media, liberal intelligentsia and anti-Trump politicians.

The Nations Patrick Lawrence wrote a lengthy review of the findings made by various computer experts formerly with the NSA. Published this week, the left-wing magazines report notes two bases for their conclusion: (1) hard science shows that a remote hack of the DNC servers resulting in the breach that actually occurred would have been technologically impossible; (2) forensic review of the initial Guccifer 2.0 documents proves that they are poorly-disguised cut-and-paste jobsforgeriesintended to finger Russia.

Lawrence, by way of the experts findings, concludes that the so-called hack was actually an inside job by someone with internal access to the DNCs computer network. In other words, the DNC has (or had) a leak.

The report mostly relies on the work ofVeteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity (VIPS), which was founded in 2003 in order to push back against the false claims of Iraqi WMD emanating from the second Bush White House. Despite mostly being ignored by the media so far, VIPS diligently set to work on unraveling the cocoon of misinformation surrounding Russiagate and the DNC hack narrative.

Four members of VIPS are currently concentrating on the task. They are: (1) William Binney, the NSAs former technical leader who also designed many of the programs now in use by the agency; (2) Kirk Wiebe, a former senior analyst with the NSAs SIGINT Automation Research Center; (3) Edward Loomis, the former technical director at the NSAs Office of Signal Processing; and (4) Ray McGovern, former chief of the CIAs Soviet Foreign Policy Branch.

First, VIPS noted, the NSA has the technical prowess to root out exactly what happened because their publicly known programs alone are capable of capturing any and all electronic transfers of data. As VIPS noted,If NSA cannot produce such evidenceand quicklythis would probably mean it does not have any.

Thats a drum VIPS has been beating for awhile, but, of course, thats not hard evidence. There simply wasnt much of anyuntil very recently. Those recent documents undergird the reports first contentionthe technological impossibility of the DNC breach having been a long-distance hack. Lawrence describes the impossibility like this:

The metadata established several facts in this regard with granular precision: On the evening of July 5, 2016, 1,976 megabytes of data were downloaded from the DNCs server. The operation took 87 seconds. This yields a transfer rate of 22.7 megabytes per second. These statistics are matters of record and essential to disproving the hack theory. No Internet service provider, such as a hacker would have had to use in mid-2016, was capable of downloading data at this speed.

What is the top possible speed? Somewhere around 16 megabytes per second. According to Skip Folden, a former IBM program manager and independent analyst, 22.7 megabytes per second is beyond unlikely under the circumstancesunless youre downloading the files directly using a storage device like a USB drive. He said:

A speed of 22.7 megabytes is simply unobtainable, especially if we are talking about a transoceanic data transfer. Transfer rates of 23 MB/s are not just highly unlikely, but effectively impossible to accomplish when communicating over the Internet at any significant distance. Further, local copy speeds are measured, demonstrating that 23 MB/s is a typical transfer rate when using a USB2 flash device (thumb drive).

As to the reports second contentionthat the Guccifer 2.0 documents were tainted to cast curious eyes toward RussiaFolden notes that a simple peeling away of the documents top layer of metadata shows the sloppy and intentional misattribution.

The report is lengthy and doesnt stop there. Lawrence notes multiple additional problems with the now-broken narrative: CrowdStrike is essentially an arm of the DNC itself; Dmitri Alperovitch, CrowdStrikes co-founder and chief technology officer is consumed by Russophobia; the FBI has never once examined the DNCs servers by themselves; that famousIntelligence Community Assessment breathlessly reported as the cumulative work of 17 national security agencies was actually the work of three hand-picked analysts.

Lawrence even raises the possibility that Guccifer 2.0 was a whole-cloth creation of the DNC used to deflect away from the leaks contents and send everyone scrambling to find Russians underneath all the nations laptops and ashtrays.

That question, for now, will have to remain unanswered, but it looks like the official story is swiftly crumbling away.
