ALBERTVILLE, Ala. -- A hacker broke into two of the City of Albertville's Facebook pages. One is gone now, and the city staff can't control what's on the other one.

Hacked Albertville Farmers Market Facebook page

Robin Gore is the Communications Specialist for the City of Albertville. Someone hacked into her personal Facebook account. "Consequently we lost access to the City of Albertville, Alabama, Facebook page and the Farmers Market Facebook page," Gore said.

She's an administrator for those two pages. The hacker was able to delete her and the other administrators and took sole control over the pages.

"Luckily Main Street Music Festival was safe," Gore said, "Thank goodness. I was able to contact another admin to delete me as an admin when I realized this was going on." That's the third city-affiliated Facebook page Gore helped run.

The city's Facebook is gone. Gore says they're not sure if the hacker changed the page or if Facebook took it down. The hacker changed the profile picture on the Farmers Market page and replied to a comment from a social media user inquiring what it is. The reply was nonsensical.

"Unfortunately, again, we have no access right now to change any of that," Gore said.

She's working with Facebook staff to remove the page. She was able to get her personal profile back.

Gore feels this was a professional hacker, and has noticed other similar jobs across social media. "Our security settings were very strong," Gore explained

City staff feels the hacker was looking for credit cards sometimes associated with professional or business pages. "Obviously, being city government we don't pay for any kind of social media boosting or sponsoring," Gore said.

Gore added the community can help by reporting the Farmers Market page to Facebook. City staff contacted Albertville Police investigators, and they're in the process of creating new pages that are said to be more secure. The city's other social media accounts are fine.

Giffords Leaves Gun Control Out of Reaction to Scalise Shooting – PJ Media

WASHINGTON -- The last member of Congress to be shot while in office was former Rep. Gabby Giffords (D-Ariz.), shot in the head by a would-be assassin during a strip-mall meet-and-greet with constituents in her home district on Jan. 8, 2011.

Giffords weathered an arduous recovery period, resigning from Congress a year after the shooting. She and her husband, former astronaut Mark Kelly, became gun-control advocates and founded Americans for Responsible Solutions.

House Majority Whip Steve Scalise (R-La.) was shot in the hip and was in criticalcondition after this morning's attack on a congressional baseball practice in Alexandria, Va.Rep. Roger Williams' (R-Texas) aide Zachary Barth, Tyson Foods lobbyist Matt Mika and two Capitol Police officers were also wounded: David Bailey and Krystal Griner. Mika was reportedly in critical condition.

The gunman, James T. Hodgkinson, 66, of Belleville, Ill., had been arrested in 2006 for attacking his daughter and her friend, and threatening the friend's boyfriend with a 12-gauge shotgun. The Belleville News-Democratalsoreported that on March 24 neighbors called police on Hodgkinson shooting in the woods behind his home; cops found he had a valid firearms permit.

Hodgkinson was wounded by the officers and later died.

It doesnt matter if youre a Democrat or a Republican, nor if youre a senator or a representative, nor a staffer or a sworn officer. If you serve the institution of Congress, youre connected to your colleagues, current and former, by a shared sense of service to ideals far greater than yourself. This shooting is an attack on all who serve and on all who participate in our democracy," Giffords said in a statement issued by Americans for Responsible Solutions.

I am heartbroken for the pain of Congressman Scalise, the other victims, and their family, friends, and colleagues who survived. I am thankful for the great courage of the Capitol Police, who were my protectors after I was shot and became my friends. I also know the courage it takes to recover from a shooting like this, and I know Steve and everyone there this morning have such courage in great supply," she added.

May all Americans come together today with prayers for the survivors, love for their friends and family, and the courage to go about everyday making this country its best. Our nation is resilient, and we always come back stronger.

Dan Gross of theBrady Campaignto Prevent Gun Violencesaid in a statement that"all Americans, including our elected leaders, should live in an environment where they can pursue everyday activities without fear of being shot."

"Far too many Americans know what its like to be shot or have a loved one killed by gun violence," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety.

Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, said she was "devastated by this mornings shooting tragedy," and added that "Americans should be able to play baseball, dance in a nightclub, and attend religious services without the threat of gun violence. We all deserve better."

State attorney expects to seek death penalty in jail cell killing – The Northwest Florida Daily News

TOM McLAUGHLIN @TomMnwfdn

State Attorney Bill Eddins office has announced it will likely have a second go at seeing Shawn Rogers sentenced to die for the 2012 murder of Ricky Martin.

The First Judicial Circuit had been pursuing a death sentence in its case against Rogers since 2015, when he pleaded guilty to the headline-grabbing murder. Eddins office abandoned the effort in January, though, after court rulings nullified the death penalty in Florida.

Eddins said at the time that Rogers case was rather unique in that the inmate was already serving a life sentence in prison without possibility of parole for a 2002 Volusia County armed robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. The state had the luxury in Rogers case of waiting for death penalty sentencing procedures to be straightened out through legislation rather than seeking a new indictment against him.

There is no downside to dismissing the case and waiting to file it again, Eddins said at the time the original indictment was nullified. We did this in this death penalty case because the sentencing procedure is muddled, and we want it to be crystal clear.

The Florida Legislature this year voted to change a law that had required at least a 10-2 jury majority in order to impose the death penalty. Juries must now be unanimous in favor of death for the sentence to be handed down.

The new standard meets requirements established by rulings at the U.S. Supreme Court and Florida Supreme Court levels.

New indictments charging Rogers with murder and kidnapping in the Martin case were handed down in May, according to State Attorney's Office spokesman Greg Marcille. He was booked on the charges June 12.

Hes been reindicted and now well go through the process of reviewing the case to see if the death penalty is appropriate, Marcille said. We do expect we will seek the death penalty.

Rogers pleaded guilty in September 2015 to murdering Martin, who was his cell mate at Santa Rosa Correctional Institution.

Martin was found March 20, 2012, inside his cell, tied down with bedding material and stripped of his clothing. He had been bludgeoned with a sock full of batteries and died three weeks later at Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.

Martins killing occurred after word had filtered into the prison about the death of Trayvon Martin at the hands of neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman. Rogers was reported to have made comments along the lines of this is for TrayvonMartin as he beat Martin, a white man, unconscious.

The Miami Herald wrote an in-depth article about Martins death as part of a series that called into question a Florida correctional system that allowed the much smallerMartin, a non-violent offender, to be placed in a cell with Rogers, who had a history of committing acts of violence on other inmates.
