Computer Online Centre (COC) is an IT company established in 2008. It deals with making local business go online and creating attractive designs for websites. In conversation with Reublicas Prasansha Rimal, Sanjay Maharjan, the director of the company, talks about the company and SEO.

What impact are you trying to create through COC? We help people get global recognition by creating websites where they can showcase their work, publicize their business, publish their articles, poems, sketches and many more. When people post their work on website they get international platform to share their talent.

How did you come up with COC? I used to volunteer in different places and in that process came across many talented individuals.

Some of them used to write incredible poems and some used to sketch beautifully, but I felt that they didnt have appropriate platform to showcase their unique ideas. So I thought if they had their own website, they could be recognized for their work.

Why is SEO important? Many people and businesses in Nepal have their own websites but many of them dont get proper recognition for it. SEO makes it easy for the website of any particular business or company to get picked out from the crowd of other websites. SEO places any product, business, company or an individual at the top of Google search list, which creates curiosity in people compelling them to visit the particular website. This helps any individual, product or company get proper exposure, making their work marketable worldwide.

How does SEO work? Firstly, you need to put the URL of the desired website on different websites and search engines.

You need take care of other factors like back link. And then you have to make sure that your website is online on various search engines. So when Google finds the link to your desired website on various places, your website will be at the top of the search list.

What are your future plans for the company? We are focusing on creating and designing websites and SEO. But after few months, we even plan to give web design training and create android and IOS apps.

Another excellent low-cost strategy his consulting clients use for marketing is joint venturing with local businesses where their target market visit. Many of our clients create gift certificates for free workouts and give them to tanning salons, hairdressers and massage therapists. Those businesses then give them to customers as gifts and very often give the personal trainer a certificate that they can use as gifts for their clients for free massages, haircuts etc. The gift certificates can be produced very cheaply and brings in clients that might not have considered online personal training.

Another popular marketing strategy is volunteering to give away free workouts at health exhibitions, local festivals and charity events. A personal trainer can give away free workouts, inviting anyone to join in, then handing out flyers offering a free online workout or a special offer to join a program. This strategy doesnt cost any money and is an excellent way to build your brand and credibility in your local community, says Clay.

While Clay says that there are certainly many online personal training marketing strategies that do cost more money, he explains that they are not more effective or better than the low-cost alternatives.

Online personal trainers can spend lots of money on marketing strategies with varying degrees of success, he says. But look at client referrals and word-of-mouth advertising. Theyre totally free and its still the most powerful marketing tactic of all.
