Watch Mike Pence’s Matrix-Like Deflection of Obama Wiretapping Claims Made by Trump – The Root

Drew Angerer/Getty Images

Vice President Mike Pence knows that President Mother Russia was lying when he took to the keyboard with his little fingers to type those crazy claims that former President Barack Obama wiretapped Trump Tower in New York City.

In fact, the vice president pulled out some Matrix-like dodging moves when he was asked flat out if he believed Donald Trumps wiretapping claims.

John Kosich of News 5 Cleveland asked Pence: The president has alleged that the former president committed a felony in wiretapping Trump Tower. Yes or no: Do you believe that President Obama did that?

To which Pence replied:

Well, what I can say is that the president and our administration are very confident that the congressional committees in the House and Senate that are examining issues surrounding the last election, the run-up to the last election, will do that in a thorough and equitable way.

Theyll look at those issues, theyll look at other issues that have been raised. But rest assured, our focus is right where the American people are focused, and thats on bringing more jobs here to Ohio, creating a better health care system built on consumer choice.

Way to say nothing about the salacious claim made by the liar in chief, but nice pivot back to the shitty health care plan, a pivot thats akin to me saying Ive solved homelessness by allowing each homeless person access to housing. Of course, that housing is going to cost thousands of dollars per month, but if the homeless really dont want to be homeless, they may have to pass on that new iPhone.

After Steven Birch got CC on the board with 4:18 left in the first, ORourke lit the lamp with 1:08 left to give Central a 2-0 lead after one. His second goal made it 3-0 after two, then Thomas Manty and Eric Lester pushed the lead to 5-0 before Jeremy Reiser got Pope Francis on the board with 2:07 left. Matthew Pasquale made 19 saves in the win. Zac Steigmeyer (one period, six saves) and Zac Roncarati (11 saves) split time in net again for the Cardinals.

BC High 2, Walpole 0: Matt Fox scored midway through the first period and the second-seeded Eagles turned it over to Luke Garrity (27 saves) and the defense to do the rest while handing the No. 7 Rebels their first loss of the season and force a deciding Game 3. Michael Ball added an empty-netter for BC High with six seconds left. James Corcoran made 22 saves for the Rebels while allowing just his 13th goal of the season.

Malden Catholic 7, Marshfield 0: The top-seeded and defending champion Lancers had no trouble finishing off the eighth-seeded Rams, getting 17 saves from Kyle Casey and a pair of goals from Joey Guarino. Division 1 girls Quarterfinals

Masconomet 3, Austin Prep 1: The. No. 18 Chieftains not only pulled off their third consecutive upset of the tournament, but they also eliminated the defending state champion and seventh-seeded Cougars in the process. After a scoreless first period, Kate Irons scored on a breakaway and then Izzy Sarra gave Masco a 2-0 lead after two. Madi Brooke pushed the lead to 3-0 just 34 seconds into the third and the Chieftains held on despite a late AP goal from Annie Richards.

Needham 6, St. Marys 2: The top-seeded Rockets kept their unbeaten run going, knocking off the No. 8 Spartans behind a pair of goals by Elizabeth Hernberg. Gracie Brunos shorthanded tally sent the Rockets off and running, then goals from Hernberg, Elizabeth Phalen and Celia Blaszkowsky pushed the lead to 4-0 before Sarah Ryan got St. Marys on the board to close the second. But Needham stemmed any momentum as Hernberg scored again and Rose Evans made it 6-1 in the final two minutes. Ashley Wojewodzic capped the scoring for the Spartans.

Woburn 4, Westford Academy 1: Lily Mallard scored twice and the No. 3 Tanners avenged a double-overtime loss from last years tournament, bouncing the No. 6 Grey Ghosts. Georgie Santullo and Mallard scored three minutes apart in the first period for a 2-0 lead after one. Colleen Ellis got one back for Westford early in the second, but Mallard responded with a huge goal 41 seconds later. Maddie Russo got the final goal for Woburn.

Reading 4, Boston Latin 1: Michaela Boyle continued her huge season for the fourth-seeded Rockets, netting a hat trick in the victory against the No. 5 Wolfpack. Boyle got Reading on the board 4:45 into the game, but goalie Ellen Linso and the Wolfpack kept it tight until Abbie Collins scored with 2:55 left in the second. Latins Sophia Temple cut the deficit in half 17 seconds into the third, but Boyle answered 50 seconds later and then completed her hat trick with 7:13 left.

Division 1 North Semifinals

Andover 2, Austin Prep 1: Michael Reilly scored with 22 seconds left and the No. 4 Golden Warriors pulled out a stunner against the top-seeded Cougars. AP had tied the game with 1:36 left in regulation when Nick Cafarelli fired a tough-angle shot past Andover goalie Zach Laramie (26 saves). But moments later, Caedan Dillman made a strong rush up ice and started to go behind the net at the left post, only to drop a pass to the trailing Reilly for the winner. Michael Biddle had the other goal late in the second period for Andover.

St. Marys 4, Arlington Catholic 2: Dante Maribito had two goals and an assist and the defending North champion and No. 6 Spartans returned to the sectional final by finishing off the No. 10 Cougars. Maribito got the scoring started and then assisted Nico Scalli to make it 2-0. Jason Loeser pushed it to 3-0 before periods end, but the Spartans had to survive a furious AC rally. Mason Beecher and Jack Bertolami cut the lead to 3-2 before Maribito fired home an empty-netter in the final minute.

Division 2 North Semifinals

Stoneham 2, North Reading 1 (2 ot): Nick Feliciano scored with 3:02 left in the second overtime and the No. 11 Spartans advanced to the title game with a stunner against the No. 2 Hornets. North Reading had a 1-0 lead thanks to Patrick Scanlon and it looked like it might hold up, but with the goalie pulled Stonehams Eric Roberts pushed home the equalizer with just 23 seconds left in regulation. Stoneham appeared to have won it during the 4-on-4 first overtime as Feliciano put a shot on net on a rush and Nick Federico banged home the rebound, but the goal was overturned. Feliciano wouldnt be denied in 3-on-3, coming down the left wing and sniping a shot over Day and inside the far post.

Lowell Catholic 10, Saugus 2: Conor Doherty scored four goals and the top-seeded Crusaders simply overwhelmed the No. 12 Sachems to reach their first sectional final. Doherty scored twice along with Alex Graves and Andrius Kulbis-Marino as LC jumped out to a 4-1 lead after one period, and the lead grew to 7-1 after two as Doherty added two more and Michael Andrea got his first. Nic Pereira, Mikas Kulbis-Marino and Andrea again scored in the third. Saugus got goals from John Torres and Kyle Wood.

Division 2 South Semifinals

Medway 1, Canton 0 (2 ot): Ryan Norton scored with 12.4 seconds left in the double overtime and the second-seeded Mustangs survived in a thriller against the No. 6 Bulldogs. With the teams skating 3-on-3, Norton carried the puck down the right wing and fired a shot that clanged off the far left post and past Canton goalie Quinn Gibbs (25 saves). Moments earlier Medways Pat Malloy stopped a C.J. Martin breakaway with a flash of the left pad, on his way to 31 saves and his ninth shutout of the season.

Scituate 5, Westwood 1: David Murray notched a hat trick, including an empty-netter that capped the top-seeded Sailors victory against the No. 4 Wolverines. Ryan Loftus got Scituate going just 59 seconds into the game and Murray followed with his first. Division 3 South Semifinals

Rockland 5, Nantucket 2: Chris McHugh had a goal and three assists, Matt Dunn and Mike Flaherty had a goal and two assists each and the third-seeded Bulldogs advanced to just their second sectional final by beating the previously unbeaten and No. 2 Whalers. After Ben Lombardi put Nantucket on top 3:46 in, Brian McCullough tied it before periods end. Then goals by Zach Callahan, Flaherty and Dunn pushed the Rockland lead to 4-1 after two. Ben Jenkinson cut the Whalers deficit to 4-2, but McHugh added an empty-netter. Harry OBrien finished with 22 saves in the win.

Old Rochester/Fairhaven 6, Dartmouth 3: The No. 5 Bulldogs beat the No. 16 Indians for the third time this season, but more importantly, this one sends the co-op team to its first South final in program history. Sam Austin scored twice and the Bulldogs methodically chipped away against Dartmouth. Sam Henrie and Owen Powers sandwiched a goal by Dartmouths Max Andrade to make it 2-1 after one. Austin had his pair along with Noah Strawn in the second to make it 5-3, then Landon Goguen closed the scoring in the third. Scott Shorrock had two goals in the loss for Dartmouth.

Division 3 Central Semifinals

Shrewsbury 2, Marlboro 1 (2 ot): Anthony Quinlivan scored his second goal of the game at 4:35 of the 3-on-3 overtime and the top-seeded Colonials remained unbeaten and ended the big upset bid by the No. 4 Panthers. The game was scoreless through two periods, thanks in big part to Marlboro goalie Owen OBrien (37 saves), until Quinlivan broke the ice with 10:50 left in regulation. But Patrick McCarthys goal tied it for Marlboro with 5:48 left in the third. Pat Shaughnessy had 15 saves for Shrewsbury.

Wachusett 3, North Middlesex 1: Aidan Rolli scored the first of his two goals midway through the second period and the No. 2 Mountaineers held off the No. 3 Patriots. North Middlesex had taken a 1-0 lead on Matt McCarthys goal just 1:48 into the game, but Liam Comeau tied it for Wachusett before periods end. Rolli gave the Mountaineers the lead, then added an empty-netter with 14 seconds left. Joseph Sheridan made 24 saves for the Patriots, with Mike Putnam needing just 11 stops for Wachusett.

Division 3A Central Semifinals

Grafton/Blackstone Valley 2, Littleton/Bromfield 1: Brendan Coates scored 28 seconds into overtime and the No. 3 Indians, despite having squandered a late lead, regrouped and pulled out the victory against the No. 2 Tigers. Sean Kitains goal with just 52 seconds left had pulled Littleton/Bromfield even, but Coates quickly turned the tide in the 4-on-4 overtime. Noah Charron scored the other goal for Grafton/BVT late in the first period. Ben Lichtman made 30 saves for the Tigers, while Cam Powell had 13 for the Indians.

Oakmont 6, Lunenburg/Ayer Shirley 2: Freshman Jake Hewitt scored four goals and the No. 4 Spartans rolled back to the sectional final by ousting the top-seeded Blue Knights. Goals from Mike Amblo and Lukas Belsky got Oakmont started in the first period, and Hewitts first came just 33 seconds after Belskys for a 3-0 lead after one. Hewitt capped his hat trick for a 5-0 lead before the Knights showed some life. Connor Viviano made it 5-1 after two, and Zane Dawson scored with 5:13 left, but Hewitt added another on a power play with 3:04 to go. Greg Mattson finished with 22 saves in the win, while Lunenburg/Ayer Shirley got 21 stops from Nathan Bourdelais.

Congress Warns Donald Trump: Stop Deleting Your Tweets – Huffington Post

WASHINGTON When President Donald Trump or a member of his staff deletes a tweet, they may be violating federal law, two top congressmen warned the White House this week.

Reps. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) and Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), chairman and ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, sent a letter to White House counsel Don McGahnon Wednesday expressing concerns about the Trump administrations record keeping habits and its nontransparent use of social media and other forms of electronic communication.

One example the lawmakers cited is Trumps habit of misspelling and then deleting tweets, which they warned could pose a violation to the Presidential Records Act if the deleted tweets are not archived.

Many of the messages sent from these accounts are likely to be presidential records and therefore must be preserved, they wrote, referring to both Trumps personal @realDonaldTrump account and his official @POTUS account. It has been reported, however, that President Trump has deleted tweets, and if those tweets were not archived, it could pose a violation of the Presidential Records Act, Chaffetz and Cummings wrote in the letter.

Trump sometimesdeletes tweets due to spelling errors.Over the weekend, he deleted two tweetsthat misspelled the word hereby.

Under former President Barack Obama, White House digital staffers instituted a system of auto-archiving tweets from the president and other top officials.

We eventually set up auto-archiving for official platforms, so errors could be corrected while preserving the original, Ezra Mechaber, a former deputy director in the White Houses office of digital strategy, tweeted in January.

In their letter, Chaffetz and Cummings also asked the White House to investigate whether federal officials are using personal email accounts for government business. Under the Presidential Records Act, White House officials must forward emails sent from those accounts to their government account within 20 days. The same is true of employees at federal agencies, under the Federal Records Act.

Official business must be conducted in such a way as to preserve the official record of actions taken by the federal government and its employees, they wrote.

They also raised ethical concerns about the use of apps like Signal and Confide, which encrypt messages and, in some cases, delete them once theyre received.

The need for data security, however, does not justify circumventing requirements established by federal recordkeeping and transparency laws, the lawmakers wrote.

Chaffetz and Cummings suggested that they may consider updating the laws to reflecttrends in federal employees use of technology.

In the meantime, they asked the White House to conduct trainings on proper record keeping and archiving of social media, email and other electronic messaging systems, and urged the administration to clarify its policies and procedures on such matters.

The White House did not respond to a request for a comment.

Alec Baldwin talks completely, 100% uncensored about Donald Trump – USA TODAY

Alec Baldwin opens up about impersonating Trump and his own impressions of the president. USA TODAY

Alec Baldwin(Photo: Gilbert Carrasquillo, FilmMagic)

As impersonator-in-chief for President Trump, Alec Baldwinhas some surprising opinions about our 45th commander in chief.

He doesn't think his satire of Trump on Saturday Night Livehas been effective. He admires Trump for his loyal family. Butlet's give Baldwin the floor uncensored as he speaks to USA TODAY for his upcoming animated film The Boss Baby (in theaters March 31), in whichhe plays a business-minded infant.

Q: What do you like about President Trump?

A: Well, his children seem loyal to him, which I've got to give him credit for that. I dont want to believe its all about their inheritance. I want to think that Trumps children are very loyal to him. That must say something for him. Because otherwise, his kids could just vanish. They certainly have the resources to put some money in their pocket and take off. They dont really have to be. But they are fiercely loyal to him, so that has to matter for something. So I do recognize that about him. But in terms of his politics, no, there is really nothing I could say.

Q: How long will you act as Trump on 'Saturday Night Live'?

A:I don't know. I can honestly say I don't think much longer. Meaning this season, I would do it. I do think that people are, I could be wrong, but I do think that people are growing, not so much weary of it, where they think its funny, but they dont know if its achieving any practical purposes. Its a satire thats not really leading to the effect you hope satire will have. You know, Trump, some people would say to me very pointedly, how do you feel that you helped Trump get elected? You humanized him. And you kind of trivialized him in a way that softened him to the public. That certainly wasnt the point.

Alec Baldwin to write a parody Trump memoir

Trump was someone who, regardless of whether he was parodied or not, regardless of who did the parody, and what was written, I thought Trump was someone who was completely disqualified to be the president. All of these things that surfaced about his misogyny and women and thingslike that. I thought,"Oh, God, this is just, dust off the Air Force One for Hillary Clinton."And I thought there was just no way he could have won with all of those things that were out there about him. But, you know, its a historic about-face, if you will, of public opinion, so it's interesting.

I know I am going to do a few more shows by the end of the year, they finish in May. Those guys are all dear friends of mine. (SNL producer) Lorne (Michaels)is a dearfriend of mine. Its like going home when Im there. I love them and I love being there. But after the summer, I take the summer off with my family, and when I come back, theres just a whole host of other things I want to be doing. And it would be out of the question that I would be available to do that long term.

Q: Do you fear repercussions for lampooning President Trump?

A: No, I never think about that. There was a joke, I was with my assistant, I said this on (Jimmy)Kimmel, and we went to Dean & DeLuca to get a cup of coffee down in Soho. And we ran into Tony Kushner, the famous playwright. And I saw Tony and said, "How are you?"And he turned to my assistant, Casey, and he said, Is this your taster? Hes a brilliant guy, very funny.

But I do not have any fear whatsoever that something is going to happen, (that) my taxes are going to get audited or that kind of thing. I don't really fear that.I mean, I think that Trump is someone, who no matter what we did, if we really had softened it ifyou had someone do sketches where theyexaltedTrump. If the Fox News division had a comedy show, I know thats incongruous, but if they had a comedy showand they just celebrated Trump in a humorous way nonetheless, he wouldnt be happy. I dont think Trump is happy with anything said about him in the modern world or media.
