Rev. Al Sharpton and civil rights leaders to meet with U.S. Attorney … – Amsterdam News

Rev. Al Sharpton and Attorney General Jeff Sessions met on Tuesday along with other leading civil rights leaders to discuss a wide range of issues.

Attending the meeting along with Sharpton was Marc Morial, CEO of the National Urban League, Wade Henderson, President and CEO of The Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, Melanie L. Campbell, President and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation and convener of the Black Womens Roundtable Public Policy Network, Sherilynn Ifill, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and Kristen Clarke, President of the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

Sharpton and Sessions spoke about the lack of outrage from the Attorney Generals office around the current hate crimes against various citizens. According to Sharpton: We were not hostile, but we showed holy indignation.

Among other issues discussed were the DOJ and the Voter ID law currently in the courts in Texas. Last week, the DOJ announced it will withdraw from the position that Texas lawmakers purposefully discriminated against voters of color by passing the nations strictest voter identification law in 2011. The laws were found to be discriminatory in the previous administration under President Barack Obama and Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Sharpton and the National Action Network also discussed criminal justice reform and specific issues that are before Congress, including the federal indictment of the policeman that killed Walter Scott and the status of the investigation of the Eric Garner chokehold case.

‘He Will Not Divide Us’ Livestream Placed in Middle of Nowhere, but 4chan Still Found Way to Troll It – Heat Street

A good rule of the Internet is to never tell 4chan something is impossible.

The anachronistic message board has had a field day in the past few months trolling Shia Labeoufs He Will Not Divide Us livestream. The stream was set up to protest Trump and encouraged resistors to stand in front of the camera and chant the eponymous mantra.

Pretty soon 4channers arrived on the scene and began yelling pro-Trump slogans and trolling Labeouf so hard that he lashed out and got arrested. The stream had to be moved from a museum in Queens to Albuquerque, New Mexico, following an escalation of white supremacist activity. Then gunshots drove the stream out of Albuquerque.

The stream was finally moved to an undisclosed location by Labeouf and the two other artists, Rnko and Turner, who intended to stay there for the duration of Trumps presidency. The stream was pointed upwards to the sky to a flag that said He Will Not Divide Us.

The claim that the flag would stay there for the duration was taken as a challenge by the folks at 4chan. They were given a seemingly insurmountable task to play the greatest game of capture the flag ever played. No clues tipped them to the location. But somehow, with the power of determination and youth unemployment, they found it and they trolled it hard.

The search began on March 8 and was immediately narrowed when Labeouf was spotted on social media at a diner in Greenville, Tennessee, although some in the threadstill believed the flag was in the Great Lakes area due to wind patterns. The time of the sunset in Greenville matched with the time of sunset on the stream, and so didthe weather on local weather reports.

4channers began looking into flight patterns. One of the few clues available on the stream were the contrails left by airplanes. Greenville was finally confirmed as the location after two planes observed on online flight radars intersected over the town and were seen on the stream.

Finally when three planes flew over the area, 4channers were able to triangulate an approximate location of the flag.

This area wastoo large to search unfortunately. The 4channers began looking to the stars, using ancient astronomy to help map the direction of the camera and pinpoint a more precise location.

They also sent out a guy in his truck to honk his horn around Greenville tosee if they could hearit on the livestream, to mark the location.

The trail led into a field on private property next to some poor soulshouse. Tennessee based 4channers were standing by to capture the flag. After scoping out the area for hours they finally made a move. The anonymous group stole the He Will Not Divide Us flag and replaced it with a Trump Make America Great Again hat and a Pepe the Frog t-shirt.

The flag pole was left barren on the stream all morning, until Labeouf and co. finally turned the stream completely off in utter defeat.

The taleof the He Will Not Divide Us livestream is probably not over, but this saga marks another stunning defeat forLabeouf. It shows 4chan will follow him to the ends of the earth for a good laugh, and he inevitably will be the butt of thejoke.

The flag now rests in the home of one of the greatest anons 4chan has ever known.

The European Union supports agricultural and livestock activities in the Far North region of Cameroon – Business in Cameroon

(Business in Cameroon) - The city of Maroua hosted on 9 March 2017 the official launch of the Livestock Productivity Improvement Support Project (PAPE) in the Far North region of Cameroon.

With a duration of three years and costing a total of 890,000 Euros, the project is supported by the European Union to the tune of 800,000 Euros (over FCfa 500 million). PAPE comes as a response to the numerous problems faced by the agricultural and livestock systems in northern Cameroon. It is meant to strengthen the capacity of the players in the sector to improve the productivity in livestock activity, boost availability, access and the smooth and inclusive management of livestock resources and infrastructure. PAPA will moreover facilitate the rehabilitation of livestock markets and promote governance in the livestock trading system.

Through this support, the EU expresses the importance it attributes to the development of rural areas in general, and in particular, to the recovery of the economy in the Far North, a region which, these past years, has been experiencing a slowdown in the agricultural and livestock activities, declared the Chief-Ambassador of the European Union delegation in Cameroon, Franoise Collet.

Rohingya group urges European Union support for probe into ‘Myanmar’s Crimes against Rohingya’ – Zee News

Ankara [Turkey]: A group representing Rohingya in Europe has called on the European Union to support a United Nation (UN)-led investigation into "Myanmar's Crimes against Rohingya."

The European Rohingya Council (ERC) said in a statement it was "deeply shocked and extremely concerned" about the EU's decision not to support the UN investigation, reports the Anadolu News Agency.

It was reported earlier last month that the EU decided not to back up the international investigation sought by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra'ad al-Hussein.

The fresh wave of violence and subsequent reprisals against the civilian population began last year mid October after insurgents, believed to be mostly from the Rohingya minority, attacked Myanmar border posts on October 9, killing nine police officers there.

"The EU's backing up of the military formed Commission of Inquiry to investigate the very crimes the military has been committing is completely shocking. This irresponsible stand of the EU will be a green light for the Myanmar armed forces to further commit atrocities against Rohingya," the ERC said in its statement.

"We strongly urge the EU to reverse its decision, and to support the U.N. led the international investigation of the crimes against Rohingya perpetrated by Myanmar armed forces in Northern Arakan," the statement added.

It said that Myanmar does not allow international media into the affected area in Rakhine State and will not cooperate with a UN probe into the killings, rape and mass arrests of Rohingya is proof of the government's humanitarian crimes.

The statment suggested that "only an independent UN-led international investigation of Myanmar's abuse against Rohingya can reveal the crimes against Rohingya," that could help end "Myanmar's state-sponsored institutionalized persecution of Rohingya community."
