Rabies scare after vet bitten by puppy that had been frothing at the mouth and vomiting

The dog, though to be form Hungary, had been vaccinated against the contagious disease two months ago but health inspectors are analysing the pets body for rabies

A puppy triggered rabies fears when it bit a vet after showing symptoms of the killer virus.

The four-month-old Bolognese dog was frothing at the mouth , vomiting and staggering in circles when it was rushed to the vets on Monday.

Thought to have been imported from Hungary earlier this year, the pet was immediately put down.

But it first sank its teeth into senior vet Claire Demmer, who was given an emergency jab. She will discover this week if she has been infected.

The puppy was sold to its owner through a pet website two weeks ago.

It had been vaccinated against the highly contagious disease two months ago but health inspectors are analysing the pets body for rabies.

The rabies scare comes just months after the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) said the risk of a rabid pet entering Britain would be once in every 200 years.

It also estimated only one person in every 21,000 years would die of the disease.

Head vet Claire told the Sunday People: The dog was showing all the signs of rabies frothing at the mouth, walking in circles, vomiting and yelling out.

Killer Cold Virus (Adenovirus Infection, Ad14) (cont.)

What is the treatment for an Adenovirus 14 (Ad14) infection?

Treatment for Ad14 infection in most people consists of supportive care (rest, fluids, and fever reduction) because many people do well and have no problems. However, the Ad14 infections that progress require more intensive care; about 40% have required hospitalization in some outbreaks and some require respiratory assistance (intubation or mechanical breathing support) and intensive care. Mortality (death) rate has been as high as 5% in some settings. There are many reports of use of antivirals in severe Ad14 infections, but there are no good studies that support specific antivirals. Some benefits of antivirals such as ribavirin (Rebetol, Copegus) and cidofovir (Vistide) have been documented in ill patients; in severe cases, clinicians may try such agents because there is no other treatment other than supportive care. The effectiveness of antiviral medications is not been well studied in Ad14 infections. Consultation with an infectious disease, pulmonary, or ophthalmologist consultant, depending where the severe infection is located, is advised.

For patients who require no hospitalization or treatment, most patients have no complications. However, complications may be mild to dire if the Ad14 disease progresses and the complication types are related to the organ system(s) bearing the most severe infection. Complications include bronchitis, conjunctivitis, pneumonia, meningitis, hepatitis, bladder infection (cystitis), diarrhea, ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome), and death.

M Autorun Killer Smart Free Download – Remove Autorun.inf Virus

If your system is infected with the famous Autorun virus, chances are that your full-time antivirus solution won't be able to do the cleaning job since it didn't stop it in the first place, so finding a dedicated software solution to clean your machine is a must.

M Autorun Killer Smart is one possible solution as its purpose is to scan the computer and quickly remove the infection, without hampering computer performance at all.

There is a major thing to take into consideration when dealing with M Autorun Killer Smart. The application doesn't replace a traditional antivirus, so it doesn't provide full-time protection and doesn't support virus definition updates.

Probably the best thing about M Autorun Killer Smart is the fact that it can do its job without having to interact too much with the user. The interface consists of a main window that includes a single button called 'Scan and Clean'.

There are, nonetheless, some configurations you can make in order to activate and enforce USB protection. Thus, you can have all the new drives connecting via USB instantly scanned, cleaned and vaccinated.

The scanning process goes fast and has the power to re-enable Task Manager, registry editor and folder options, which are the features disabled by the Autorun infection.

Another useful feature of M Autorun Killer Smart is the ability to clean registry entries that were affected by the malware.

All things considered, this application is just the friend you need when struggling to get rid of the Autorun virus. Lightweight and easy to use, M Autorun Killer Smart can be just the right choice for any user affected by this kind of malware.

Serial killer Robert Pickton continues to deny his guilt in series of lawsuits against him

VANCOUVER Serial killer Robert Pickton continues to deny responsibility for the years he spent hunting sex workers in Vancouver's Downtown Eastside, filing statements of defence in a series of lawsuits against him.

The families of several women whose DNA or remains were found on Pickton's farm launched lawsuits earlier this year targeting Pickton, his brother David, and various levels of government.

Pickton, who was convicted in 2007 of six counts of second-degree murder and is believed to be responsible for deaths of dozens more, filed statements of defence from Kent Institution, the maximum-security prison near Agassiz, B.C., where he is serving a life sentence.

The documents don't offer any details, but instead use a standard court template to deny liability.

"None of the facts in Part 1 of the notice of civil claim are admitted," says one of the statements of defence, dated Nov. 29 and officially filed with the court this week.

"The defendant opposes the granting of the relief sought in all paragraphs of Part 2 of the notice of civil claim."

Each statement of defence is punctuated by Pickton's signature, with "Robert William Pickton" written in cursive and separated with hyphens.

The lawsuits were filed by the children of nine women whose remains or DNA were found on Pickton's property after the serial killer's arrest in February 2002.

Since his conviction, Pickton has repeatedly denied responsibility for killing Downtown Eastside sex workers, offering vague, rambling denials and suggesting someone else was to blame.

In August 2010, shortly after the Supreme Court of Canada denied the final appeal of his murder convictions, Pickton spoke to a CTV reporter from jail and claimed others were responsible.
