In Africa few states depend more on help from their countrymen abroad than Liberia. Thousands of Liberians in the US who faced deportation this year have just won a reprieve. And as Tom Ackerman reports, neither they nor their government wants them to go back home any time soon.

I plan on filming a night out in the Kuta Beach tourism precinct but instead meet some Australians running a local bar and settle in to learn about visa requirements for expats. Australians over 65 get a special 12 month visa which means many stay in Bali in order to stretch the value of their pensions.
