Broward Republican Party leader sharply condemns tea party activist

A top officer of the Broward Republican Party is taking on the co-founder of Tea Party Fort Lauderdale, publicly voicing sentiments that until now have been quietly muttered by many Republican Party insiders.

Ryan Anderson, the elected Republican state committeeman for Broward County, aired his sentiments in a late-night email on Wednesday that was further circulated among people in the political world on Thursday.

In the email, Anderson told Danita Kilcullen, co-founder of the tea party group, that Youre mean-spirited, youre a racist, a fear monger, hate filled, ignorant, terrified of your own shadow [and] homophobic.

Anderson continued:

The attributes listed abovedo not make for a good Christian. I know atheists that are more loving than you. Hell, I know gay couples that are a better example of a Christian. But hey, who am I to judge? Certainly not God.

YOU and what you stand for are why the Republican Party is struggling to grow. You are a cancer and doing way more harm than any Democrat could ever do. Every time you open you mouth the Republican Party takes two steps back. I know you won't agree with any of this, because you're delusional. You and your pack are so convinced that you are right that anyone who disagrees is a Democrat or even evil. You are no different than the progressives that think they know what's best for society and want to shove it down everyone's throat.

You want to call yourself a Christian? How about you try coming from a place of love. Like, say ... Jesus??

Anderson confirmed Thursday that he sent the email.

I think a lot of people share my sentiments. Things that I know people say and feel. I think a majority feel the same way, he said in a telephone interview. I think shes doing a lot of damage to the party. I think it needed to be said.

Anderson was elected by Republican primary voters in 2012 to a four year term as state committeeman.

Tea party sets sights on John McCain: 'We're sick to death of him'

Sen. John McCain, 78, is starting to make moves that hes interested in a sixth term but tea party types are saying not so fast, that if he runs he can expect some stiff competition from the limited government crowd.

Im leaning toward it, Mr. McCain said, when asked about his thoughts for a re-election, The Hill reported. Thats a notable switch from a month ago when he told The Wrap that he wasnt sure about another Senate term that he didnt want to be one of these old guys that shouldve shoved off.

Nowadays, the Arizona senator says hes doing all the things necessary for another political campaign, including raising money, attending meetings and talking to a lot of people in the state, The Hill reported.

But the tea party is mobilizing.

Rep. David Schweikert, backed by the tea party crowd, said hes mulling a run against Mr. McCain. And a couple of different polls one from the Citizens United Political Victory Fund and another from Public Policy Polling taken in recent months show a less-than-satisfactory rating for Mr. McCain among Republican voters.

Speaking for myself and every other Republican I know and every other tea party person I know, were sick to death of him and we will move, Wes Harris, founder of the Original North Phoenix Tea Party, said in The Hill.
