Bristol's Boston Tea Party has won an award for best UK coffee chain
ITS official Bristol serves the countrys best cup of coffee. Boston Tea Party has fought off other high street heavyweights to be named as the UKs best coffee chain.
Boston Tea Party, which started life on Park Street in 1995, was named as Cafe Lifes best cafe or coffee bar chain in a recent awards ceremony in London.
The chain scooped the top spot over UK giant Costa Coffee, and other popular options including Coffee #1 and Harris and Hoole.
Boston Tea Party was one of the smaller of the chains in the running, having just opened its 15th cafe across the country, in comparison with Costas 1,900 branches.
But it still managed to come out on top, with judges praising Boston for the breadth of its menu from coffee and cakes, to more substantial meals and range of wines and craft beers. Aside from food and drink, judges were also impressed with the uniquely tailored nature of each caf, the use of green energy and social responsibility.
Managing director of Boston Tea Party Sam Roberts, pictured, said: It gives me immense pleasure that BTP scooped the much coveted Caf/Coffee Bar Chain of the 2014 at the Caf Life Award ceremony in London.
The awards aim to recognise the leading coffee shops who are setting the standards and driving the market in terms of innovation, standards and consumer satisfaction.
When picking their winner, judges looked for businesses that consistently set and maintain high standards in both the quality of the products they offer as well as things like the friendliness of staff.
All those short-listed were visited by an independent judge who reported on factors such as atmosphere, facilities, cleanliness and product range as well as customer service. Sam added: Despite lots of external evidence to the contrary, I have always believed it is possible to get better as you get bigger. A challenge I often frame as the scale verses soul debate. This year we opened our 15th caf and for the first time received this accolade, which is hopefully a good sign that our soul is in good shape.
