M.E.N. teams up with Missing People charity for Everything Stops for Tea

The Manchester Evening News has joined forces with charity Missing People to launch national fundraiser Everything Stops for Tea.

We want you to hold a special tea party for family, friends and colleagues on or around Friday, March 20 to support those who are missing - and those who are missing someone they love.

Everything Stops for Tea is being launched to support those families struggling with a lost loved one.

Eamonn ONeal, managing editor at the Manchester Evening News, is urging Mancunians to get behind this new national event.

Eamonn said: The Manchester Evening News is proud to be associated with the charity Missing People and their fundraising initiative, Everything Stops For Tea.

Were keen to encourage our loyal readers to consider taking part in the initiative. Having a loved one go missing is traumatic and it can be hard to imagine how difficult it is to live with the torture of uncertainty.

This campaign is a great way to highlight the growing problem and to raise some money for those searching for family members. I know the people of Manchester will rise to the challenge

Everything Stops for Tea is being championed by Missing People ambassador Fiona Phillips. She launched the campaign at a special tea party with Peter Lawrence, Peter Boxell and Sarah Godwin, who all have a child who's gone missing.

Fiona said: I know from spending time with parents of missing children that these families go through the most indescribable pain.

"Everything Stops for Tea is a brilliant idea because everyone loves a cup of tea and a slice of cake and a natter.

Magical tea party for Frozen fans

A CITY hotel is hosting a tea party in aid of Barnardo's childrens charity based on the smash hit movie Frozen.

Youngsters will have the chance to meet and greet Elsa and Olaf and sing and dance to all the songs from the film.

Alan Taylor, general manager at Holiday Inn Glasgow Theatreland, said: "Meet and greet the characters, dance and sing along on the dance floor to all your favourite songs from the movie, sit down to our Frosty tables in true tea party style and enjoy some delicious cakes, treats and refreshments.

"On top of all this, we will play some games, have a photo opportunity with the characters and each and every child leaves with a gift."

It is being held on Sunday March 22 and there will be sittings at noon, 2pm and 4pm.

All profits will go to Barnardo's Scotland, including 60% of the ticket price which is 12 per child. Visit http://www.events2you.co.uk for more details and to book.
