On Monday morning, the 29th of November, 1773, a handbill was posted all over Boston, containing the following words: "Friends! Brethren! Countrymen!--That worst of plagues, the detested tea, shipped for this port by the East India Company, is now arrived in the harbor.

Few people realize that when the tea went overboard in Boston Tea Party on December 16, 1773, the War for Independence was actually beginning.

The actual location of the Tea Party has a great historic significance, but being nothing more than a memorial marker on a busy street corner it make one wonder if there are other historic places in Boston that are connected with the most famous American protest. If fact even after the unfortunate fire at the Boston Tea Party ship museum there are still several such landmarks that will impress even a serous history buff.

George Hewes is certainly one of the most well known names when it comes to participants of the famous protest. One of the less known events in his biography was the circumstances of his meeting with John Hancock. When Hewes was a shoemaker apprentice in 1763 he had a chance to repair shoes for John Hancock.

Sometimes the tea party ships are mistakenly called British. In fact only the tea belonged to East India Tea Company but the ships themselves were American. Nantucket was homeport to two ships that were involved in the Boston Tea Party, the Beaver and the Dartmouth. Even though Dartmouth made history for carrying tea it was built for a different purpose offshore whaling.

The Indiana TEA Party | Limited Government Fiscal …

To restore limited government, fiscal responsibility, and accountable representation through citizen activism and education, in order to preserve the Constitution for the United States of America.

If men give up any essential natural right, the eternal law of reason and the great end of society, would absolutely vacate such renunciation; the right to freedom being the gift of God Almighty, it is not in the power of Man to alienate this gift, and voluntarily become a slave. LETTER: McMillin Says RFRA Protects Rights Of All Hoosiers

A letter submitted by Indiana State Rep. Jud McMillin (R-Brookville)

At the Statehouse, often times we have passionate conversations and intense debates. We also receive input from countless Hoosiers about the legislation being discussed, which is great as our citizen Legislature needs as much input as possible. However, in order for this institution to function, it is important that people receive accurate information on which to base their opinions on.

Recently, Senate Enrolled Act 101, known as the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA), was passed by the General Assembly and signed into law by the governor. Almost immediately after this bill was first introduced, misinformation clouded both sides of this issue, suffocating the truth. This distortion of facts works to divide rather than unite us, and regrettably, can even prevent good public policy from passing. That is why, I would like to take this opportunity to clear up some of the confusion surrounding this legislation and provide some clarity on what this law will do and alternatively, what it will not doc. But first, it is important to know a little background about RFRA. Continue reading

Washinton Examiner BYZack Colman|March 24, 2015 | 12:40 PM

Were hoping for a vote this week, but nothing is locked in, Portman spokeswoman Caitlin

Senate Republicans are pushing a budget amendment that would allow states to opt out of a proposed emissions rule for existing power plants.

Under the measure from Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, which was filed by Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., state governors or legislatures could choose not to comply with the proposed Environmental Protection Agency regulation if they determine the policy would cause economic harm to low or fixed-income families, introduce electric reliability problems and a handful of other reasons. continue reading

It All Rests With This Generation

By Homeland Chief Jay Johnson The recent six page memo concerning immigration by Homeland Chief Jay Johnson needs to be thoroughly evaluated. The memo grants amnesty to any illegal alien who has been here as of January 1, 2014. So its not just the five million no faults the president talked about in his executive order speech. Its absolutely everybody who has been in this country illegally from 1986 to January 1, 2014. There is no way to know for certain just how many millions are here illegally. It could be 15, 20 or 30 million. The border has been wide open for 29 years so theres no telling how many. Continue Reading

Republicans ought to be ashamed for using tragedies to advance their political agenda that can only promote an increase of hate crimes against brown-skinned people.

One wonders what a Republican like Roosevelt would make of a Republican like Governor Walker. Roosevelt believed in democracy and the power of government to bring about change and progress.

About Us – Tea Party

The Tea Party is a grassroots movement that calls awareness to any issuewhich challenges the security, sovereignty, or domestic tranquility of our beloved nation, the United States of America. From our founding, the Tea Party represents the voice of the true owners of the United States: WE THE PEOPLE.

TeaParty.org was created on: September 2nd, 2004. Many claim to be the founders of this movement; however, it was the brave souls of the men and women in 1773, known today as the Boston Tea Party, who dared to defy the greatest military might on earth. We are the beneficiaries of their courage.

The Tea Party includes those who possess a strong belief in the foundational Judeo-Christian values embedded in our great founding documents. We believethe responsibility of our beloved nation isetchedupon the hearts of true American Patriots from every race, religion, national origin, and walk of lifesharing a common belief in the values which made and keep our beloved nation great. This belief led to the creation of the modern-day Tea Party.

Our millions of members consist of Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Independents who identify with the premises set forth by the U.S. Constitution and we are striking a chord and ringing true with the American Spirit.

We stand by the Constitution as inherently conservative. We serve as a beacon to the masses that have lost their way, a light illuminating the path to the original intentions of our Founding Fathers. We must raise a choir of voices declaringAmerica must stand on the valueswhich made us great. Only then will the politically blind see and deaf hear!

By joining the Tea Party, you are taking a stand for our nation. You will be upholding the grand principles set forth in the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

1. Illegal aliens are here illegally. 2. Pro-domestic employment is indispensable. 3. A strong military is essential. 4. Special interests must be eliminated. 5. Gun ownership is sacred. 6. Government must be downsized. 7. The national budget must be balanced. 8. Deficit spending must end. 9. Bailout and stimulus plans are illegal. 10. Reducing personal income taxes is a must. 11. Reducing business income taxes is mandatory. 12. Political offices must be available to average citizens. 13. Intrusive government must be stopped. 14. English as our core language is required. 15. Traditional family values are encouraged.

Reminiscent of Tiananmen Square where a few stood to defy tyranny and demand liberty and democracy, a few patriots stood in protest representing the American people. Weare more than lowly protestors; weare the type of Americans the Founding Fathers envisioned over 200 years ago as true Patriots of courage and valor.

TeaParty.org and soon other fearless Patriots began to join in our solitary stance; The Tea was brewing! Young and old, wealthy and poor, patriots of all colors and backgrounds began to rally with a new energy, an energy reminiscent of pictures in old American History books. Word of mouth began to spread. Citizens began calling loved ones, proclaiming, We The People Rule! Many blogged on their laptops, or messaged family and friends. The energy began to sweep across the nation.

The media began to take notice. America was deeply moved, right down to her soul. A new voice began to speak, and a new hope was spawned. Gathering crowds grew from hundreds to thousands, and then swelled to the millions.

About Us - Tea Party

Atlanta Tea Party

The following is being reposted from Amy Kremer's blog, Southern Belle Politics. She is one of the original organizers that helped start the tea party movement in February 2009 and Atlanta was one of the first cities to host a tea party.

Wow! It is hard to believe that two years ago today, the modern tea party movement was born. As someone that was there from the beginning, I cannot help but to take a trip down memory lane.

The idea for a tea party actually was thrown out to the masses by Rick Santelli when he had this rant about the mortgage meltdown on CNBC.

We all got busy immediately planning our tea parties. One week later, on Friday, February 27th, at 12:00 noon EST, we had 53 tea parties with approximately 30,000 people in attendance! That was nothing short of amazing! All of those tea parties happened through social media and word of mouth, with no help from traditional media.

During that week, I worked with others to plan the first ever Atlanta Tea Party. On Friday at 12:00 noon, we had a spectacular tea party rally at the Georgia State Capitol in Atlanta.

It began raining right before the event started. The tea party lasted for an hour and as the time wore on, the rain poured down heavier and heavier. Yet, the bone chilling cold and rain did not deter people, instead they turned out in large numbers with umbrellas, rain gear and of course, their tea bags! In the end, we had 400 to 500 freedom loving Americans at the first ever Atlanta Tea Party in the pouring down rain! We even had local media cover the event and footage from the Atlanta Tea Party was shown on Greta's show, On the Record, that evening on Fox News Channel!

Here is a short video of the very first Atlanta Tea Party.

Much transpired in the weeks to follow and much is still to happen within this modern day grassroots movement. History is still being written. But just look at where we have come from since that cold February day in 2009. There is so much that we have done and it cannot all be told here. However, I can sum it up by saying we have completely changed the political landscape of Washington, DC.

This movement is still in an infancy stage and we are just getting started! Look at what we accomplished on November 2, 2010 with no plan or footprint of what we set out to do in those early days.

Now, imagine what we can do if we continue to educate ourselves on the issues and work to grow the movement. We can work smarter and be more successful if we will stick to the same core principles and values that have fueled us thus far:
