Leaked tape: Ekiti APC vows to reclaim stolen mandate

February 8, 2015 by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado-Ekiti 84 Comments

The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State has urged its supporters to brace for the challenge to reclaim its stolen mandate from Governor Ayodele Fayose.

In a statement on Sunday, the state Publicity Secretary,Taiwo Olatubosun, said the party and the people in general now stand on a superior moral ground to retrieve the stolen mandate and to install a purposeful government led by (ex-Governor Kayode) Fayemi for Ekiti development.

The party stated this in a reaction to the audio tape released by SaharaReporters, an online medium, detailing how Fayose, former Minister of State for Defence, Mr Musiliu Obanikoro; Senator Iyiola Omisore, Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Jelili Adesiyan, and the military allegedly rigged theJune 21 governorship poll in the state.

But the Minister of State for Works, Mr. Dayo Adeyeye, has described the audio clipas a failed attempt to rewrite history.

According to him, no amount of campaign of calumny and blackmail could erase thefact that Ekiti people willingly elected Fayose.

Olatubosun said the APC had been vindicated by its claim that photochromic ballot papers were used to fix the June 21, 2014 election in the state.

He wondered how Fayose, who was facing a criminal trial over alleged stealing of N1.3bn in poultry project, instituted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, won all the 16 local governments in that election against a performing incumbent governor.

He added, It was shocking that one of the participants spoke of how he must deliver on the assignment given to him by the President. The fellow said I am not for a tea party but to deliver on the presidents assignment.

It was shocking hearing the voice of a Major General in the Army, begging Mr Governor and pledging loyalty to deliver on the assignment.

I was not fired as civil servant Ambode

Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode

The All Progressives Congress governorship candidate in Lagos State, Akinwunmi Ambode, has denied allegations that he was fired from the Lagos State Civil Service.

A statement made available to SUNDAY PUNCH said Ambode, during a reception by the Eko Club, Surulere, was asked why he left the service at 49.

In his response, the governorship hopeful stated that he served the state meritoriously for 27 years and was specially commended by Governor Babatunde Fashola.

Ambode noted that he was issued a Certificate of Service by the Lagos State Civil Service in recognition of the service he rendered to the state, adding that rumours by the opposition that he was forced out of office were totally baseless and untrue.

He was further quoted as saying that leave bonuses for Lagos State workers had not been removed from their remuneration, but that they had been included with their monthly salary, spread across 12 months.

Ambode, according to the statement, was received by a large gathering of members of the club, which included the Chairman of the club, Mr. Farouk Grillo; Mr. Murphy Adetoro, Prince Tajudeen Olusi, Mr. Razak Muse, Mr. Lanre Razak, Prince Ademola Dada and Mr. Muritala Ashorobi.

Ambode then took the members through his programme for Lagos State and urged them to support him in the forthcoming governorship elections.

The President of the club, Mr. Babatunde Grillo, stated that the APC governorship flag bearer earned their endorsement based on his tested and trusted servitude, leadership acumen and an unmatched experience in matters of good governance.

The Chairman of the interactive session, Adetoro, reiterated the clubs stance by introducing Ambode as the best candidate for the Lagos top job, while giving reference to his rare competence and landmark achievements in the Lagos mainstream civil service.

Houston APC mobilises for Buhari

Members of the All Progressives Congress in Houston Texas, United States of America, have begun mobilisation for the presidential candidate of the opposition party, General Mohammadu Buhari(retd).

A statement issued by the Secretary, Houston APC, Mr. Chima Opara, on Friday said officials of the group would be in Nigeria during the week to make a financial donation to the Mohammadu Buhari Campaign Organisation.

The Chairman, APC, Houston chapter, Ade Steven, and the Woman Leader, Rashidat Musa, expressed confidence that Buhari was the only candidate in the forthcoming election that would deliver Nigeria from the spate of insecurity caused by Boko Haram insurgency.

Steven said, It is unthinkable that in a nation of freedom-loving people, a group like the lunatic Boko Haram will reign, rule and claim a part of Nigerias territory at will.

The Financial Secretary, Mr. Yemi Ojo, and Opara also expressed their hope for a free and fair election.

Sanity will return to Nigeria and to governance May 29, 2015, Ojo said.

They both expressed confidence that Nigerians who despise corruption and cronyism would vote for Buhari.

Fayoses attacks: Buharis group threatens to fight back

February 7, 2015 by Kamarudeen Ogundele, Ado-Ekiti 82 Comments

Supporters of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhamadu Buhari (retd.), in Ekiti State have vowed to resist Governor Ayodele Fayoses alleged clampdown on the opposition in the State.

They warned that they would have to fight back to defend themselves if the security agencies failed to address their series of complaints against the government.

Speaking with our correspondent in Ado Ekiti, the State Coordinator of Buhari Support Organisation on International Observers, Mr. Femi Adeleye, urged Fayose to stop attacking members of the opposition in the state.

He said, We have notified the security agencies and they said they are on top of the situation.

We are law abiding citizens and we have reported to the security agencies. The governor should allow people to make their choice, but if the security agencies fail to do the right thing, we will have no option than to fight back.

If the Governor fails to allow peace to reign, then he is inviting anarchy because we will have no option than to defend ourselves.

Adeleye boasted that Buhari would emerge victorious in the February 14 election, saying many Peoples Democratic Partys members had expressed their readiness to vote for him because he had the experience, pedigree, character and integrity to turn the fortunes of Nigeria around for good.

The former member of the State House of Assembly disclosed that more volunteers had offered to join the group to help project Buharis message of change and the need to rescue Nigeria from the brink.

He urged the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure a credible, free and fair election that would meet international standards.
