The Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) on Tuesday urged Nigerians, especially those in the South, not to be deceived by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Buhari spoke through the Director of Media of the APC Campaign, Mallam Garba Shehu, in Abuja.

He explained that it was pertinent to draw the attention of well-meaning Nigerians to the deceit, squander and looting associated with this administration.

According to the campaign, the administration had been unable to deliver on its promise to construct the East-West Road, on which it had spent and continued to spend billions of naira.

He said, It is on record that work started on the road in 2006, under former President Obasanjo but due to the activities of Niger Delta militants then, it was stopped midway and the initial contractor, Julius Berger, left the site.

In 2009, work was restarted on the road. This time, to be handled by three construction firms to hasten its completion by 2011, as anticipated.

It is pertinent to note that appropriations were made for the construction in 2009 and 2010, but after YarAduas death, work stopped on the road and money set aside was diverted.

Buhari also noted that the administration was also trying to hoodwink the people of the South-East over the Second Niger Bridge.

He said contrary to the efforts of the Jonathan team to assure the people of the South East that the Second Niger Bridge had been awarded and now under construction, the truth is that the PDP administration is only deceiving the people.

Kaduna APC accuses Yero of inciting violence

The All Progressives Congress in Kaduna State has accused Governor Mukhtar Yero-led administration in the state of preparing the ground for crisis ahead of the March 28 and April 11 rescheduled elections.

Spokesman for the APC Campaign Council in the state, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, at a media briefing in Kaduna on Tuesday, said those championing hatred and disaffection in the state were those in government.

He noted that the government was not interested in ensuring peace, pointing out that the government was only paying lip services to ensuring peace in the state.

Aruwan, who is from the southern part of the state, reminded the people of the area(Southern Kaduna) not to fall into the antics of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, which he accused of using and dumping of the areas over the years.

According to the spokesman, rather than focus on issues, the PDP has engaged in inciting people to violence.

He said the government had continued to heighten religious and ethnic tensions in the state ahead of the elections.

He said, As a movement of the people, the APC is resolutely committed to free, fair and credible elections, held in an atmosphere of peace.

In our campaigns, whether at rallies or in the media, the APC has focused on the issues. The response from the PDP has ranged from serial incitement to violence to the actual and practice of violence.

The PDP government of Kaduna State is actively stoking religious and ethnic tensions. Along with its affiliates and supporters, the PDP has been trying to whip up religious resentment.

Meanwhile, the APC might have been denied the use of the Murtala Mohammed Square, Kaduna, to hold its North-West zonal rally ahead of the rescheduled March 28 and April 11 general elections.

Apologise for Okrika attack, APC tells Jonathans wife

March 9, 2015 by Chukwudi Akasike, Port Harcourt 4 Comments

The All Progressives Congress has called on the Presidents wife, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, to accept responsibility for the recent attack on its rally in Okrika Local Government Area.

The APC said on Monday that recent utterances credited to Mrs. Jonathan had not put anybody in doubt as the unseen hand behind the attacked on its rally.

Though, Okrika is the home town of the Presidents wife, her kinsmen have maintained that Mrs. Jonathan knew nothing about the shooting in Okrika, the led to the death of a policeman.

But the Rivers State Chairman of the APC, Dr. Davies Ikanya, said the Presidents wife should show remorse and apologise for her role in the incident.

Ikanya said, The All Progressives Congress (APC), Rivers State Chapter, has demanded that Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of President Goodluck Jonathan, should accept responsibility for the recent attack on the APC governorship campaign train while attempting to hold a rally in her local government of birth, Okrika.

Subsequent comments and utterances by the First Lady have removed any iota of doubt that she was one of the unseen hands behind the deadly attack and disruption of APCs campaign and the attempt on the life of our governorship candidate, Dr. Dakuku Peterside.

Sadly, Cpl. Ifeanyi Okorie, a police officer, providing security at the rally, was killed by the bullets fired by thugs acting on behalf of the First Lady and the Peoples Democratic Party, while a Senior Correspondent of Channels Television Mr. Charles Eruka, covering the rally, was stabbed and many APC supporters equally wounded.

Dame Jonathan should, for once, show maturity by apologising for her role in that orchestrated Okrika tragedy.

Long Read: Progressives Wont Take No For an Answer on an Elizabeth Warren Presidential Run

Sen. Elizabeth Warren has repeatedly stated she is not interested in running for president in 2016.

In a piece thats getting a lot of attention, The Huffington Posts Sam Stein dissects progressives infatuation with Sen. Elizabeth Warren, a courtship that, in recent months, has involved involved raising, and spending, hundreds of thousands dollars to convince the Massachussetts Democrat to run for the 2016 presidential nomination:

For DFA and MoveOn -- and, more recently, New Yorks Working Families Party -- the steps are clear. The groups have raised money, conducted polls, hosted launch events, opened offices, showed up at open house events, and hired staffers in key states with the express purpose of showing Warren that an infrastructure exists should she discover her presidential aspirations.

"We think the stakes are so high that we want to push to get her in this race," said T. Neil Sroka, communications director for Democracy for America.

In other words: If you build it, she will run. Only, probably not.

Warrens told several different outlets in several different ways that shes not interested no, seriously, shes not and has sent a few very strong signals that she means it. Which makes the progressives decision to keep chasing Elizabeth look less like sweet-talking a dream candidate and more like the basis of a restraining order against a stalker.

Stein writes that the arduous pursuit of the freshman, however, is causing a rift among Dems, and not just the Ready for Hillary crowd. Progressives, Stein writes, themselves are split about running after a candidate whos been unwavering so far in avoiding the 2016 presidential race, and who privately met with Clinton to talk populist shop with the presumed front-runner:

At the heart of the dispute over Warren-for-president is a larger worry over the progressive movement's lot in politics in a post-Barack Obama era. Many progressive activists see a Hillary Clinton candidacy left unchallenged as a gateway to their own marginalization, similar to what they felt during her husband's presidency.

But there is also a less overtly stated concern that putting so much hope in Warren could backfire. The struggles to influence Obama during critical moments of his presidency showed the dangers in putting one's proverbial eggs in a single basket.

Nigeria Opposition Senators Warn Against Plot to Sack Electoral Chief

Senators from Nigerias main opposition party have expressed concern about reports suggesting that the government plans to force the nation's top electoral official to go on vacation, in an effort to scuttle the March 28 election.

The call by the All Progressives Congress comes amid growing tension around the electoral showdown between incumbent Goodluck Jonathan and his challenger, Muhammadu Buhari.

The contest between Jonathan, of the People's Democratic Party, and Buhari, of the All Progressives Congress, is turning into the tightest and most competitve campaign since the country returned to civilian rule in 1989.

News reports have suggested that pressure is growing on Attahiru Jega, the chairman of the Independent Electoral Commission, possibly in an effort to delay March 28 vote.

The commission already delayed the vote once last month, a decision that prompted an outcry among opposition groups.

Senator Ibrahim Musa, of the All Progressives Congress, says the opposition party will not accept any attempt by the ruling Peoples Democratic Party to undermine the electoral commission.

"Let us tell the whole world that this is the plan of the Jonathan administration that they want to remove Jega to make him not conduct the March 28 and April 11 elections, Musa said. "That is why we the APC senators felt very much concerned."

His comments follow reports that a new chairman of the electoral commissioner would be appointed to take over after Jega is sacked or forced to go on vacation.

Government officials, and the commission itself, has denied there was any campaign to remove Jega.

The rumored sack of Jega is not from the presidency but part of the propaganda by the opposition to soil the good name of the president, to discredit the government and cause trouble," Nigerian media quoted the presidential office as saying.
