Again?

Hush now, Obamas got you. The former presidentsbaby whisperer reputation really took off in June 2011 after he soothed this crying infantat the Congressional Picnic at the White House.

Babies dont even have to be American for Obama to adore them. Here he is in April 2015 at the U.S. Embassy in Kingston, Jamaica, letting a curious infant touch his face.

I'm still asking you to believe not in my ability to bring about change, but in yours. I believe in change because I believe in you.

That was Barack Obamas official last tweet as the president of the United States, written on January 20, his last day in office. He was talking to all of us, but lets keep it real: As photos snapped over the past decade show, the people Obama believes in and loves the most might just be the pint-sized ones. And six months after he left office, it seems the nation is hungrier than ever for pics of Obama the Baby Whisperer in action.

That explains why pictures of him taken last week at Anchorage International Airport with a 6-month-old baby named Giselle have gone viral. The infants mother, Jolene Jackinsky, told The Associated Press that Obama walked over to her and asked, Who is this pretty girl? about the baby. They snapped some adorable selfies, which Jackinsky uploaded to Facebook, and now people are feeling all the feels about the images.

Fortunately for us, Obamas official photographer, Pete Souza, took dozens of pictures of the former president hugging, fist-bumping, and lifting kids in the air, and theyre all in a publicly available archive. Looking through the pictures in the slideshow above, its heartwarming to see how Obama always has asmile or twinkle in his eyes when he interactswith kids. He knows theyre our national treasure, and we parents, extended family members, mentors, teachers, and community members have to keepbelieving in our ability to create the future that is rightfully theirs.

(NEW YORK) Books of Obama photographs will be in the news this fall.

A collection of White House pictures of Michelle Obama is coming out Oct. 17, Ten Speed Press told The Associated Press on Tuesday. "Chasing Light" will feature 150 color shots and personal commentary by White House photographer Amanda Lucidon.

"Mrs. Obama is a source of light and inspiration in my life," Lucidon said in a statement issued through Ten Speed, a Penguin Random House imprint. "She was a mentor to me and so many people around the world. The work she has done with young people, especially girls and underserved youth, has helped me realize that I want to spend my life helping others reach their fullest potential."

"Chasing Light" arrives three weeks before "Obama: An Intimate Portrait," a book of Barack Obama pictures by White House photographer Pete Souza. Souza has built a wide following on social media by posting shots of Obama that contrast dramatically with images from Donald Trump's administration.

Obama set for first political event since leaving office – CNN

The former president will headline a fundraiser at a private home in Washington hosted by former Attorney General Eric Holder, who is leading the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who is among the legislative leaders involved in the effort, will also attend.

The fundraiser -- a small, private event -- marks Obama's first foray back into politics since departing the White House on January 20. It's the only political event currently on Obama's schedule.

Obama and Holder have spoken often about the redistricting effort, aimed at winning state legislative seats and court battles so that Democrats can win more political battles over how the lines are drawn for House seats and state legislatures.

"Restoring fairness to our democracy by advocating for fairer, more inclusive district maps around the country is a priority for President Obama," said Kevin Lewis, a spokesman for the former president.

"The President supports NDRC, Holder's efforts to address unfair gerrymandering practices that leave too many American voters feeling voiceless in the electoral process."

Donald Trump says Barack Obama ‘did nothing’ about Russia prior to Election Day – PolitiFact

Russian President Vladimir Putin says Donald Trump asked him numerous questions about Russia's alleged interference in the U.S. election, and he said there are no grounds to think Russia interfered in the US election. (AP/July 8)

President Donald Trump on an overseas trip criticized former President Barack Obama, saying he "did nothing" about Russia before the 2016 presidential election.

"Now, the thing I have to mention is that Barack Obama, when he was president, found out about this, in terms of if it were Russia, found out about it in August," Trump said during a July 6 press conference in Poland. "Now, the election was in November. That's a lot of time. He did nothing about it."

People can argue that the Obama administration didnt do enough to immediately crack down on Russia for meddling in the election. But Trumps statement that Obama "did nothing" in the months leading up to Nov. 8 goes too far.

The Obama administration learned in summer 2016 that election-related hacks could be traced back to the Russian government.

Soon after, at the September G20 Summit in China, Obama personally confronted Russian President Vladimir Putin and told him to back off.

Then-CIA Director John Brennan gave a similar warning to his Russian counterpart, Federal Security Bureau Director Alexander Bortnikov, during an August phone call.

On Oct. 7, the Obama administration publicly identified Russia for the first time as being behind election-related hacks, issuing a joint statement from Homeland Security and the Director of National Intelligence.

In the days following that statement, Press Secretary Josh Earnest and Vice President Joe Biden said the administration was considering options for a "proportional" response.

Also, throughout August and up through the election, Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson encouraged state-level election officials, through official statements and phone calls, to protect voting-related systems from cyber intrusions.

However, the Obama administration took its most significant actions against Russia after Nov. 8. In late December, Obama ordered 35 Russian diplomats and suspected intelligence agents to leave the United States, and he also imposed narrow sanctions on some Russian individuals and organizations.

"While I dont think its fair to say that the administration did nothing, their actions were fairly minimal prior to Nov 8," said Emma Ashford, an international security expert at the libertarian Cato Institute.

Ashford and a couple other experts in U.S.-Russia relations told us that the Obama administration felt like it had few options prior to the election because of the political climate.

The Obama administration likely waited until after the election to take any truly punitive measures because they "wanted to avoid the appearance of interfering in the election, and because they felt it was probably up to the next administration to deal with this policy problem," Ashford said.

The White House had to consider the fact that acknowledging Russias involvement could actually help Russia get closer to its goal of delegitimizing the election, said Yoshiko Herrera, a political science professor at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. And there was also the possibility that retaliating could provoke Russia to take more action against the United States in a variety of arenas, including Syria.

Herrera added that its quite possible the Obama administration and intelligence community took additional action against Russia that the public doesnt know about because its classified.

In hindsight, knowing how the Russia storyline has played out over the past few months, "it might have been better to call out Russia for hacking a bit sooner, but at the time I think the Obama administration tried to be responsible," she said.

Our ruling

Trump said that Obama found out about Russia "in August. Now, the election was in November. That's a lot of time. He did nothing about it."

The Obama administration did not sit idle while Russia interfered in the election, as Trump makes it seem. The administration publicly named the Russian government as the culprit, confronted Putin in person, and worked to secure the countrys election infrastructure all while the intelligence agencies investigated the issue.

That said, Obama waited until December, after the election, to take any public, punitive measures against Putin, when he kicked out diplomats and imposed sanctions.

Trumps statement contains a grain of truth but ignores critical facts that would give a different impression, so we rate it Mostly False.
