Stephen Curry joked on a podcast in 2018 that the moon landing was fake.

Curry got a "stern" email from Former President Barack Obama saying that Curry's comments were irresponsible.

At Obama's behest, Curry took several actions to remedy the situation and to say he believed that humans had landed on moon.

Former US President Barack Obama had to teach Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry a lesson in influence.

According to Rolling Stone's Matt Sullivan, Obama scolded Curry in 2018 for joking on a podcast that the moon-landing was fake.

In 2018, on the "Wingin It" podcast with fellow NBA players Vince Carter, Kent Bazemore and Andre Iguodala, Curry asked if humans had ever been to the moon. When the other players expressed doubt, Curry agreed, saying, "I don't think so, either."

The comments prompted criticism, with NASA even releasing a statement, offering Curry evidence to prove humans had been to the moon.

Curry told Sullivan that he received a "stern" and "direct" email from Obama, admonishing the star point guard for being reckless with his platform. Obama saidthat man had, in fact, been to the moon and that Curry needed to do something to remedy the situation.

Curry ultimately released a statement saying he was joking. He also held a 15-minute, informational live session on Instagram with an astronaut. And Curry had custom-made, space-themed Under Armour sneakers, which he later auctioned off to support STEM programs in the Bay Area. They sold for over $58,000.

Curry and Obama are close friends, so Curry took no offense to the seriousness of Obama's message.

According to Sullivan, Obama has even made jokes about top-secret material that presidents are privy to: While golfing, Obama joked to Curry, "You won't believe what the aliens look like."

Queen Elizabeth II invited the Obama sisters to the palace – HOLA! USA

President Barack Obama publicly spoke about his experience with the late Queen Elizabeth II during an interview at the Inbound Conference. According to the 44th U.S President, meeting Her Majesty was a memorable event and something he was looking forward to.

I was fortunate enough to know her, and you know, I always used to say that were only a handful of people that I met while I was in office or afterward that is exactly the way you want them to be. The Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, The Queen of England, he said.

Obama also said his mother-in-law and two daughters went to England for a vacation, and the Queen invited them to have tea at the palace. The girls and my mother-in-law came through London probably my second year in office, and there was no expectation that theyre going to be seeing her, he said. Actually, Buckingham Palace reached out, and she decided to invite them over for tea.

The politician and author said they never imagined that happening. And so, Ive got Malia, who at that point is eleven, Sasha who is eight, and my mother-in-law, who was a stay-at-home mom and a secretary for a bank who lived on the south side of Chicago her whole life, sitting there with the Queen of England, he said, adding Her Majesty wanted to treat them like royalty. And then she insists that the girls take her golden carriage, which I guess she uses for jubilees, on a long drive through the Palace grounds. None of this was ever reported. It was just something that she did quietly.

Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning British monarch, passed away on September 8, 2022, at 96 years old. Although her death has caused a significant impact on those who admired her devotion, grace, and dignity, the eldest child of the Duke and Duchess of York, who later became King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, will be forever remembered for her love for corgies, elaborated hats, and bright, colorful outfits.

Born in Mayfair in 1926, Elizabeth acceded to the throne following her fathers death in 1952. Elizabeth was in Kenya at the time of her fathers passing. She returned to the UK as Queen with her coronation taking place over a year later on June 2, 1953 at Westminster Abbey.

In 2015, Queen Elizabeth II became the longest-reigning British monarch and in 2022 she became the first British monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee, marking 70 years of service.

Republicans Blast Obama, Clinton Over Benghazi on 10th Anniversary – Newsweek

While many on Sunday took time to commemorate the 21st anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, several Republican figures took the opportunity to focus on entirely different event: the 10th anniversary of the Benghazi attacks.

Late on September 11, 2012, in Benghazi, Libya, members of the Islamic militant organization, Ansar al-Sharia, launched attacks on a U.S. diplomatic building and a CIA annex that led to an armed conflict throughout the night. Investigations later found that the attack was premeditated for the most part, with a smattering of people joining the attack from a nearby protest.

A total of four Americans were killed in the attacks, including J. Christopher Stevens, the United States Ambassador at the time. In the wake of the tragedy, numerous Republicans seized on the incident as a scandal to levy against their political opponents, most prominently Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, who served as President and Secretary of State, respectively, at the time of the attack.

Despite the fact that 10 investigations were eventually conducted into the Benghazi attacks and the response from U.S. officialsmost of which were led by GOP committeesno evidence was found that any top officials in the Obama administration had acted improperly at the time. Clinton did, however, later accept responsibility for certain security issues that exacerbated the attack.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz was among the prominent conservatives and conservative outlets to tweet about the anniversary on Sunday.

"10 years ago Islamic terrorists killed 4 Americans in Libya," Cruz tweeted. "The attack was a direct result of the failed policies of the Obama-Biden admin. They falsely blamed a video to cover up the weakness, appeasement, and incompetence that led to the attack."

"Never forget that four Americans died in Benghazi under Hillary Clinton's watch on September 11th of 2012," anti-Islam activist Brigitte Gabriel tweeted, going on to list the names of the four victims: "US Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, USFS officer Sean Smith, CIA contractor Tyrone S. Woods, CIA contractor Glen Doherty."

Ethan Chorin, a leading analysts on Libyan affairs, recently released a new book which aims to give a more thorough historical context of the attacks in Benghazi. In it, he lamented how the attacks were turned from a tragedy into a scandal by figures looking to use it to win "political points," and how that resulted in investigation that were more like a "circus."

"By making it about scoring political points rather than trying to fix a broken system, they only perpetuated a controversy that was further tearing apart the county," Chorin wrote, according to a review by NPR. "The fact that so many investigations resulted in so few answers is its own tragedy. From the edges of the five-ring political circus that was Benghazi, some voices shouted out important questions, none of which were answered. The Benghazi committee might have been able to break new ground and do the country a service if it had focused on them."

Trump, Obama, Bush and Clinton Share 9/11 Tributes on Tragic Anniversary – Newsweek

Former Presidents Donald Trump, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, and Bill Clinton shared tributes on Sunday commemorating the 21st anniversary of the tragic 9/11 terrorist attacks.

On his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump posted an illustrative picture of the date 9/11 portrayed in the American flag with the words "Never Forget."

In another Truth Social post, he wrote: "Twenty-one years ago, the World was changed forever. We will always remember the 2,977 lives lost and the many selfless heroes who emerged on that day. God bless all of those incredible souls, and God bless the USA!"

Meanwhile, Obama posted a picture of himself with his wife Michelle, the Clintons and the Bidens, paying tribute to those who died on that fateful day and tweeted: "Today, we remember the nearly 3,000 lives we lost on September 11, 2001. We honor their memory, the courage of our first responders, and the men and women in uniform who continue to keep us safe."

The George W. Bush Presidential Center posted a brief clip on Twitter, showing a piece of steel from one of the World Trade Center towers.

"This is a piece of steel from the World Trade Center. It's a powerful reminder of our duty to honor the victims, support our first responders and military, and remember the lessons from that day," the presidential center wrote on Twitter.

"May God Bless the memories of the victims of 9/11, and may He continue to bless the United States of America," a tweet from Bush read underneath.

Meanwhile, Clinton tweeted: "As we remember all those who lost their lives and loved ones 21 years ago, the greatest tribute we can pay is to serve, give back, and improve the lives of otherstoday and every day."

The Carter Center, which was founded by former President Jimmy Carter, posted a brief statement on Twitter in remembrance of the tragic attacks, reading: "Today we honor the memory of those who died in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, and we salute the first responders who sacrificed so much that day. We pledge to continue to work to build a world where everyone can live in peace."

On Sunday afternoon, Biden paid tribute to police officers, firefighters, the passengers on Flight 93, and the civilians and service members who took action on that day 21 years ago. He also honored thousands of Americans who enlisted in the Army "to protect our nation."

Earlier in the morning, Biden wrote: "Twenty-one years later, we keep alive the memory of all the precious lives stolen from us at Ground Zero, in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, and at the Pentagon. To the families and loved ones who still feel the ache, Jill and I hold you close in our hearts. We will never forget."

During a Sunday speech commemorating the anniversary, the president brought up last month's U.S. drone strike that killed Ayman al-Zawahiri, who became the leader of Al-Qaeda after Osama bin Laden was killed in 2011. Zawahiri also helped plan the terror attacks that unfolded on 9/11.

"Through all that has changed over the last 21 years, the enduring resolve of the American people to defend ourselves against those who seek us harm and deliver justice those responsible for the attacks against our people has never once faltered," Biden said.

He added: "It took 10 years to hunt down and kill Osama bin Laden, but we did. And this summer, I authorized a successful strike on Zawahirithe man who bin Laden was his deputy at 9/11 and was the leader of Al-Qaedabecause we will not rest. We'll never forget, we'll never give up and now Zawahiri can never again threaten the American people."

Newsweek reached out to the White House for comment.

Former Obama speechwriter breaks down the gay-baiting questions he’s thrown at Pete Buttigieg – LGBTQ Nation

Secretary Pete ButtigiegPhoto: Shutterstock

Oh, God, that guy.

That was Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigiegs reaction to the news a former campaign aide would be joining Jon Lovett on his politico podcast Lovett or Leave It.

Former Mayor Pete has sat with Lovett for two interviews since joining the Biden Administration, both of which featured some unusual questioning from the comedian and former Obama speechwriter.

For the shows pause and replay segment, OK, stop, Lis Smith, a senior advisor on Buttigiegs presidential campaign, dropped by to break down the interviews and see where Lovett went wrong.

On the segment, Smith recounts how shed seen Buttigieg the day before in Los Angeles at an event announcing new infrastructure spending and had shared the news shed be auditing his two fraught interviews with Lovett.

We are going to analyze his interviews with you,' she told the former mayor, and I stop and get to tell him when he really f*cked up, you know? And Petes like, Wow, I didnt know Jon had that sort of level of self-awareness to know how those interviews went. That gives me a new level of respect for him.'

I dont know how many of you know Mayor Pete, Smith explained to the audience, but thats like Petes Midwestern way, and like the Mayor Pete way of saying, Bless his heart, and I hope he chokes in his sleep tonight.'

Lovett then rolled tape on interview No. 1.

After Buttigieg explains strategies for distributing newly allocated funding for transportation infrastructure, Lovett deadpans, You are saying its not the size of the infrastructure package, its how you use it.

Buttigieg doesnt blink, and continues explaining stakeholders and negotiating positions.

Smith then OK, stops the tape.

I feel so much secondhand embarrassment for you right now, she says to Lovett over audience laughter. Did Lovett ask any of his colleagues, Hey, when I have an interview with a cabinet secretary, should I lead with a f*cking dick size joke?

Lovett thinks he acquitted himself fine, and resumes the tape.

Im sorry, Im offended, Lovett says to Buttigieg. I made a reference to a package. It is Pride. There was an innuendo there. And you ignored it.

Buttigieg replies, I tried to be oblivious.

Frank Kameny did not protest in front of the White House so that you can ignore my jokes during Pride, Secretary Pete.

Lovett also rolled tape on a second interview, leading with a vaguely transportation-related question.

Is Adam Driver hot?

Smith stops the tape. When you look at his face, you just see the disappointment. Hes like, God-f*cking damn. And I thought I was sitting down with Jon Favreau. Favreau was widely considered to be the hot one of the Obama speechwriting duo.

Lovett hits play on a follow up question: Chris Evans, Chris Pratt, Chris Pine or Chris Hemsworth?

Buttigieg: Chris Pine was in Star Trek, right? Oh, wait. Chris Pratt was in Parks and Recreation, right? Indiana connection, gotta go with him.

Lovett: Alright, for the record, he said he would f*ck Chris Pratt.

Smith OK, stops again. I think youve just got to ease in the questions a little more and maybe be like a little cliche, less cliched like about dick size, and which Chris he wants to f*ck.

Those are cliches interviewing a Secretary of Transportation? Lovett asks defensively. I dont think Norman Mineta got a lot of these questions, referring to George W. Bushs longtime (and straight) transportation secretary.

Smith suggested, If I were asking questions of a cabinet secretary, and its like, Who would you rather? I would ask about the other members of the cabinet, she goaded. Im not saying you should.

Lovetts Crooked Media podcast Lovett or Leave It drops weekly.
