The suspect in a deadly DUI hit-and-run that killed a 22-year-old in New Mexico entered the U.S. illegally, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) confirmed.

ICE confirmed to Fox News that 21-year-old Jesus Sandoval-Martinez was arrested early Monday morning and charged with two counts of vehicular homicide, reckless driving and leaving an accident resulting in great bodily harm or death.

Authorities allege Sandoval-Martinez was drunk when his Dodge pickup truck collided with a Tesla and a Toyota Corolla at an intersection in Albuquerque overnight Monday.

Following the fatal crash, the 21-year-old migrant allegedly fled on foot, and witnesses said he was visibly impaired and slurring his words.

Wildlife and Fisheries Agents Find Illegal Immigrants Caught Violating Louisiana Fishing Laws – Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries

Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) enforcement agents cited six individuals for alleged fishing violations in Plaquemines Parish on June 25. Agents cited Encarnacion Lopez, 33, of Chalmette, and Juan Lopez, 39, Oscar Ofion, 30, Armando Aguilar, 45, Yony Martinez, 27, and Mario Castro, 46, five of which are illegal immigrants, for possessing over the limit of Red Snapper and possessing undersized Red Snapper.

Aguilar, Ofion, Castro, Juan Lopez and Martinez were also cited for not possessing an offshore landing permit. Ofion, Martinez and Castro were also cited for saltwater fishing without possessing a non-resident saltwater fishing license. Martinez and Castro were also cited for fishing without possessing a non-resident basic fishing license. The captain of the vessel, Juan Lopez, was also cited for not possessing a fire extinguisher, failing to comply with personal flotation device (PFD) requirements and improper boat numbers.

Agents were on patrol in the Mississippi River in Plaquemines Parish when they observed a 20-foot bay boat occupied by six occupants heading north in the river. Agents stopped the vessel to perform a boating safety and creel inspection.

During the inspection, agents found the men in possession of 120 Red Snappers or which 97 were undersized. The recreational Red Snapper season began on April 15 in both state and federal waters with a daily bag limit of four fish per person and a 16-inch total length minimum size limit.

This case highlights the many issues we face by the failure of the Biden Administration to secure our border and illustrates how our states resources are weighed down by the consequences of a broken immigration policy. Protecting and managing our wildlife is crucial to keeping Louisiana the Sportsmans paradise, said Governor Jeff Landry. Thank you to Secretary Sheahan and these LDWF enforcement agents for protecting Louisianas fisheries and ensuring law and order is enforced.

I am proud of Corporal Landry, Agent Wiles, and Agent Smith for their hard work on this case, said LDWF Secretary Madison Sheahan. It is a priority for our department to enforce regulations intended to conserve and protect our fisheries for the sportsmen of Louisiana. We would like to thank Governor Landry for his continued efforts in addressing the abysmal failure of the Biden Administrations border policies."

Possessing over the limit of Red Snapper and undersized Red Snapper brings up to a $350 fine for each offense. Fishing without possessing non-resident basic fishing and saltwater fishing licenses also brings up to a $350 fine for each offense. Failing to possess a recreational offshore landing permit, improper boat numbers, failing to possess a fire extinguisher, failing to comply with PFD requirements carries up to a $50 fine for each offense.

The subjects also face civil restitution totaling $3,098 for the Red Snapper.

Agents seized all of the fish and donated them to the Second Harvest Food Bank on behalf of the Hunters for the Hungry Louisiana.

This investigation is still ongoing and more charges may be pending.

Agents involved in the case are Corporal Austin Landry, Agent Austin Wiles and Agent Brett Smith.

Washington allows undocumented immigrants to apply for professional licenses – KING5.com

It is no longer required for undocumented applicants to submit social security numbers. They can instead use their Taxpayer Identification numbers.

SEATTLE A new law went into effect Monday, July 1 that allows undocumented immigrants to apply for professional licenses.

It's thanks partially to the hard work of the Communities for Our Colleges coalition - a non-profit that advocated for the bill.

Four women from the coalition have spent the last year testifying and sharing their stories. On July 1, as the new law went into effect, they felt a layer of certainty for their futures.

"I wasn't sure if I should go along with dental hygienist, because I wasn't sure at the end of the tunnel if I was going to be able to even do the career," Maria Barrios said.

Prior to the passing of House Bill 1889, career paths including real estate agents, home inspectors, to athletic trainers and music therapists were closed off to undocumented immigrants without social security numbers. Jobs like private investigators and notary publics were also reserved only for United States citizens and lawful residents.

Now with HB 1889 becoming law, students like Barrios can continue pursuing her future.

"It has given me the ability to push myself to be able to become a dental hygienist in the end, and tell other people who are undocumented students to not give up on their dreams and continue because things do change," Barrios said.

Leslie Jimenez chimed in on why undocumented folks should be given the opportunity to apply for professional licenses.

"Mostly because we're individuals that contribute to the country and specifically Washington's economy," she said.

Adding more people to Washington's workforce was a big inspiration for Democratic representative Amy Walen to chief sponsor the bill. She represents Kirkland, Bellevue, Redmond and surrounding areas.

"It was an important bill for my district because we're very diverse, the 48th Legislative District has a lot of immigrants working in the tech community, but many of their family members are very qualified to do all kinds of things in their home countries," Walen said. "And to have them be able to participate in the economy is exciting to me."

The law also makes it illegal for state licensing agencies to disclose social security or tax payer identity numbers, further protecting those without immigration status.

"There's always been that fear of like-- what happens if the worst [happens]," Dafne Pinon said. "But it's definitely been a fear I've always had and still have to this day, but obviously like, putting that aside, I know I still need to fight for my dreams and make the sacrifices that my parents did, worth it."

The law does not provide any pathway to citizenship. Instead of using social security numbers, undocumented workers can apply using their Individual Taxpayer Identification Number, acquired through the IRS.

To see a full list of licenses now eligible for application without social security numbers, you can find the full bill below:

Oklahoma Law Criminalizing Immigrants Without Legal Status Is Blocked – The New York Times

A federal judge on Friday temporarily blocked Oklahoma from enforcing its new immigration law that would make it a crime to enter the state without legal authorization to be in the United States.

The ruling, issued just days before the law was set to go into effect on Monday, is the latest legal setback for Republican-controlled states that have tested the limits of their role in immigration by passing their own legislation meant to crack down on people who crossed the border illegally. The Justice Department maintains that only the federal government can regulate and enforce immigration.

A Texas law that would have given state and local police officers the authority to arrest undocumented migrants was put on hold by a federal appeals court in March. The Supreme Court had briefly let the law stand but returned the case to the appeals court, which decided to pause enforcement of it.

Then, in May, a federal judge temporarily blocked part of a Florida law that made it a crime to transport unauthorized immigrants into the state. And in mid-June, an Iowa law that would have made it a crime for an immigrant to enter the state after being deported or denied entry into the country was put on pause by a district court.

In the Oklahoma case, U.S. District Judge Bernard M. Jones wrote in his ruling that the state may have understandable frustrations with the problems caused by illegal immigration, but the state may not pursue policies that undermine federal law. He issued a preliminary injunction, pausing enforcement of the law while a case over the laws constitutionality continues.

Under the new law, willfully entering and remaining in Oklahoma without legal immigration status would be a state crime called an impermissible occupation. A first offense would be a misdemeanor, with penalties of up to one year in jail and a $500 fine; a subsequent offense would be a felony, punishable by up to two years in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Letter to the Editor: Biden, and his immigration policies, are a mess | Courier-Herald – Enumclaw Courier-Herald

Reader Jon Buss says Bidens immigrations policies have led to the deaths of U.S. citizens.

The first presidential debate just occurred. My thought is sadness on two fronts.

Sadness for Joe Biden and his dementia. He reminds everyone of their parent or grandparent with their struggle with dementia and Alzheimers. The 2nd front is sadness for this country and the free world as their leader is obviously being controlled by someone other than our elected president. I predicted this 4 years ago (separating my shoulder as I pat myself on the back).

Former President Trump really held his tongue after hearing Biden ramble on about topics time and time again. I believe Trump held his tongue because he truly felt sorry for him. I believe Biden is truly a good person and a good family man, but as a politician he is horrible for the citizens of this Country.

Bidens policies on the border have resulted in the murders of several U.S. citizens. The most recent of many is a 12 year old girl in Houston that was viciously murdered and raped by two illegal immigrants that were allowed in this country by the Biden administration.

This murder is not an isolated incident, it is becoming the norm. This country can do better to protect citizens from illegal aliens that are now called migrants. Legal U.S. citizens that are white, black, American native, Hispanic and Asian deserve to be protected from violent crime committed by people that have no right to be here. But Democrats and liberals believe otherwise. And a dementia ridden President backs this liberal belief by his action and non-action on the border.

Democrats believe that U.S. citizens just need to tolerate the crimes committed by illegal aliens and other people that have no right to be here. No Democrat politician or voter believes the blood of these murder victims are on their hands. I am here to remind everyone that people that vote for open borders, Democrats and illegal immigrants are the problem.

Democrats are scrambling after this debate. They are looking to replace Biden. The biggest snake in the grass is Gavin Newsome, the communist governor of California. He talks about supporting Biden, but he has his eye on the prize as the President. A President Newsome is a scarier thought than a dementia ridden President making decisions.

My hope is that Democrats have an open mind, show tolerance and continue to support Biden. Trump 2024!
