All hands on decks

WELL, this is exciting.

We're barely into April and the first Clyde boat party of the spring is upon us.

Despite being a world away from the sun-drenched booze cruises of Croatia and Ibiza, Glasgow's very own floating house-fests make up for it with well, just pure gallus-ness.

There will be many similar parties throughout the season, but this is a fine way to start.

The bill features two up and coming DJs who are - no exaggeration - Glasgow legends in the making. Jasper James is the Sub Club regular who was tipped by Jackmaster as one to watch in 2014, has had support from Skream on Radio 1 and whose gigs just keep getting bigger and better.

Barrientos is Glasgow Underground's Chilean-Scots prodigy: a fiercely intelligent, classically-trained studio genius who also makes some of the most blissful house coming out of Glasgow just now.

Do Anything You Wanna, his Pete Tong-endorsed new work with Illyus, and Los Suenos are the kind of jams that were made to be heard at a Caf Mambo sunset, if not a murky Clyde one.

Back on dry land, the party decants to Hope Street's Make Do.

Boat party attendees get in cheaper to the Glaswegian leg of LA house producer Le Youth's European Tour, which also features Waifs and Strays, The Shimmy and Don't Drop.

Half Baked

Started in east London back in 2009 by Remi Landaz and Bruno Ciaramicoli (who've now set up Number 90 bar in Hackney Wick), Half Baked basically invented Sunday afternoon partying. Their parties are always held in exclusive venues with an industrial style, which nail that 'not-particularly-legal' vibe and feature graffiti, fashion and photography collaborations, on third Sunday of every month plus bank holiday specials. Catch Bruno Pronsato and Thomas Melchior at a secret location on Sunday April 20.

Review: Tinie Tempah at the Liverpool ECHO arena

Hip hop hero declared Liverpool was my best show so far.

With a set like an underground car park, it was hardly surprising Tinie Tempah soon had the Liverpool audience revved up and on full throttle.

Celebrating the last concert of his UK tour, the hip hop hero declared it was my best show so far.

Of course, the silver-suited dapper rapper would say that.

But he certainly seemed to be enjoying himself.

Promising the audience the best night of their lives, he danced across the age with more energy than your average aerobics instructor and certainly looking more stylish.

He opened with Im a Lover, Not a Fighter, sending fans into a frenzy.

Add to that a declaration that Liverpool was one of his favourite cities in the world and the audience was soon eating out of his hand.

He spread his set across his two albums: going back and forth from the first multi-platinum selling Disc-Overy to his latest - and the tour title - Demonstration.

SUPER EGO Three signs that our nightlife spring has sprung, sure as the annual return of the swallows to Blow Buddies: the Sunset season opener party, Hard French's outdoor re-emergence, and the star-studded LGBT Center gala Soiree.

Our queer old-school soul treasure Hard French (Sat/5, 2pm-8pm, $8. El Rio, 3158 Mission, SF. http://www.elriosf.com) will pack El Rio's patio every first Saturday here on out with the joyous sounds of frugging and jiving. Later, all the drag, queer, and club luminaries will brighten up Soiree (Sat/5, 6:30pm-midnight, $95. City View, 135 Fourth St, SF. sflgbtcenter.eventbrite.com) the proceeds go for job and economic skills training for LGBT youth, many of them homeless. This year's theme is "A jazz tribute to the Beat generation," so don't forget your beret and bongos. Performances galore.

Sunset (Sun/6, 11am-7pm, $5$120. Stafford Lake Park, Novato, http://www.tinyurl.com/sunsetopener2014) is one of our most storied party crews this is its 20th anniversary. And the huge, yearly season opener blast is like one big, very big, family picnic. There are rave babies, and their own rave babies! And thousands of smiles. And of course special surprise guests and a raging afterparty back in the city. Bring your picnic basket.

Good ol' four-on-the-floor house, with a bit of ethereal heft behind it, from this prominent, hunky New York DJ. With the UK's Leon Vynehall, whose glorious "Step or Stone (Breath or Bone)" was one of the best tracks of last year.

Fri/4, 10pm-3am, $10$15. Public Works, 161 Erie, SF. http://www.publicsf.com

One of our own, coming up fast with his Sooo Wavey label and housey Sade edits. He's at one of our sweetest (and least expensive!) parties, Push the Feeling, with local player Cherushii, whose excellent recent Queen of Cups EP can get anyone moving.

Sat/5, 9pm, free before 10pm with RSVP online, $6. Underground SF, 424 Haight, SF. http://www.do415.com/pushthefeeling
