MIAMI (CNN) -- Hillary Clinton covered all her bases in Miami on Thursday: She padded her wallet with a paid speech, pitched her memoir with a book signing and fundraised for a Democrat in a critical presidential state.

This is becoming a familiar formula for Clinton. In October alone Clinton has four trips planned -- to Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas and San Francisco -- where she will combine a paid speech with either a book event or a fundraiser for a Democratic candidate or group.

The strategy is part logistical, part practical for Clinton. But as she considers a presidential run in 2016, it is also calculated. Campaigning for Democrats in 2014 allows her to curry favor with her party ahead of 2016, while selling her book and speaking to paid gigs lets her raise her profile (not that it is needed) and toy with talking points in front of supportive audiences.

Clinton ended her day Thursday in Florida at the sprawling Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables at a fundraiser for Charlie Crist, Florida's Republican-turned-independent-turned-Democratic candidate for governor.

The event was closed to the press, but according to multiple sources in the room, Clinton both touted Crist as the right choice for governor and spoke about bigger picture issues like the a woman's right to choose, growing the middle class and the importance of the space program to Florida.

The audience responded well to Clinton's fundraising calls, according to those in the room, and a Crist campaign spokesman told CNN that the event raised roughly $1 million for the Democrat's effort. The most expensive table at the event cost $50,000.

Clinton also said, according to one source, that she believed in "redemption and second chances," a remark that was seen as an acknowledgment of Crist's past as a Republican who called on Bill Clinton to resign the presidency during the Monica Lewinsky scandal.

The former Secretary of State started her day, however, at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel, a white washed, swanky establishment were the Clinton was paid to appear before 1,200 people at the Commercial Real Estate Women Network Convention.

The event was announced in May, long before her appearance with Crist was announced last month.

WASHINGTON (AP) Hillary Rodham Clinton is hitting the campaign trail for Democrats in October, lending her name and support in key races for Senate and governor as she considers another White House bid in 2016.

Clinton plans to campaign for Senate candidates in six states: Iowa, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Colorado, Georgia and Kentucky. She also intends to help out gubernatorial campaigns in Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Illinois.

Her travels will also take her to California, where she will headline a fundraiser for Senate Democrats on Oct. 20. It will be the same day as a San Francisco event for House Democrats where Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi will also appear.

The former secretary of state has said she expects to decide whether to run for president again around the beginning of 2015, but the campaign travel before the midterm elections will help her connect with Democratic partisans, donors and voters who could fuel a second White House race. Along with her husband, former President Bill Clinton, the former New York senator is the most sought-after fundraiser and surrogate for Democrats this year in a challenging political climate.

Some of the dates and events, which were first reported by Politico, are still being finalized. But Clinton's schedule will take her across a competitive Senate landscape for Democrats seeking to maintain their majority during President Barack Obama's final two years. And it will inject her into governor's races featuring a slate of longtime allies and early presidential states with a special appeal to female voters.

The former first lady kicked off her campaign season in Iowa, appearing at the annual steak fry fundraiser for retiring Sen. Tom Harkin in September. She expects to make a second trip to Iowa before the election.

In a bookend of sorts, Clinton plans to return to New Hampshire on Nov. 2 two days before the election to drum up support for Gov. Maggie Hassan and Sen. Jeanne Shaheen. The state often pivots on the support of female voters, and Clinton's appearance there could help drive up turnout.

Clinton has not been back to the nation's first presidential primary state since October 2008, a day of campaigning that included an event with Shaheen. But she has maintained strong ties to Democrats there, who helped her stage a comeback victory over Obama in the 2008 primary and have long backed her husband. Mrs. Clinton appeared at a New York fundraiser for Shaheen earlier this week.

"I was delighted to have her support this week, and I'm delighted that she is coming back to New Hampshire," Shaheen said Friday in Concord, New Hampshire.

Governor's races will also get her attention. Clinton stopped in Miami on Thursday to help Charlie Crist, the ex-Republican Florida governor who is now competing for his old job as a Democrat. Crist and GOP Gov. Rick Scott have tangled in one of the nation's most competitive governor's races, which could be a dry run for a 2016 battle in the nation's premier swing state.

Hillary Clinton Plans Big Push This Month

CONCORD Potential Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Clinton is returning to New Hampshire Nov. 2 to campaign for U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen and Gov. Maggie Hassan, according to a Democratic source.

Clinton won the 2008 New Hampshire Presidential primary over Barack Obama, who had won the Iowa caucuses the week before and polls indicated he would win New Hampshire.

Details of Clintons visit are expected to be released in the coming weeks.

Democrats said they are glad to have Clinton come to the state and campaign with them.There is so much at stake for New Hampshire in this election and I couldnt be more grateful to have Secretary Clintons support, said Shaheen. Shes someone Im proud to call a friend, and I cant wait to welcome her back to New Hampshire.

State Sen. Lou DAllesandro, D-Manchester, whose Washington, D.C., fundraiser with Clinton was canceled last week because of the birth of Clintons grandchild, said Im excited to hear shes coming. Its good for the Democratic Party and its good for New Hampshire.

But Republicans had a different view saying its payback for Shaheens husbands work on Clintons 2008 campaign for President against Obama.

Hillary Clinton still owes the Shaheens a political favor for their efforts to smear Barack Obama as a drug dealer during the 2008 New Hampshire Primary, said GOP spokesman Lauren Zelt. Its obvious that Secretary Clintons efforts to prop up Senator Shaheens flailing campaign is an effort to repay her and her husband for their role in this sordid chapter in New Hampshire political history.

State Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley said Clintons visit will energize Democrats and help the partys candidates up and down the ticket.

We could not be more excited to welcome Secretary Clinton back to our state, Buckley said. We have a long and special relationship to the Clintons going back decades.

Clinton and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, have maintained strong ties to New Hampshire since he first campaigned for President in the Granite State in 1991. Although he finished second in the primary to Paul Tsongas, Clinton dubbed himself the comeback kid and went on to win his partys nomination and defeat then-President George H.W. Bush.

A woman in the audience complimented Clinton, telling her she looked "beautiful," and Clinton responded, "I think it is a grandmother glow."

Clinton's first grandchild, Charlotte, was born to her daughter Chelsea and son-in law Marc Mezvinsky last Friday.

During her speech, Clinton said she wanted all women to grow up in a world of "full participation and shared prosperity."

"I think my granddaughter has just as much God-given potential as a boy who was born in that hospital on the same day," she said. "I just believe that. That's the way I was raised."
