Hillary Clinton narrowly avoided being hit by a protester's shoe in Las Vegas yesterday (April 10).

A woman was taken into custody after attempting to hit the former US Secretary of State during a speech at an Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting at the Mandalay Bay hotel-casino.

Clinton managed to duck and was not hit by the object, and later joked about the incident to the audience.

Security quickly removed the woman, who stated that she threw a shoe but has yet to explain her actions.

Police have since revealedd that the unnamed woman will be arrested.

Clinton has been travelling the US giving paid speeches and appearing before key Democratic Party constituents.

The incident echoes the infamous moment in 2008 when President George W Bush managed to skilfully duck two shoe throws from close range. Watch the incident below:

Rylan Clark made a new friend in Hillary Clinton when she appeared on This Morning on Friday (July 4).

Former First Lady Clinton was appearing on the show to promote her new book Hard Choices when she came face-to-face with the former X Factor contestant.

However, even the ex-US Secretary of State wasn't immune to Clark's charms, as he referred to her as "Hils" and "babe".

A chuckling Clinton responded positively to Clark's new nicknames for her, telling hosts Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes: "He's adorable - take him out of the cupboard."

"After 9/11 I had to work very closely with President Bush because I was a Senator from New York - I had to deal with the horror of our being attacked - and then serving as a partner and friend to President Obama. It is such an overwhelming job."

High-profile Democrats are jumping on the Ready for Hillary bandwagon, supporting Clinton for president before she even enters the race -- boosting her presumptive candidacy and potentially their own political fortunes.

Sens. Tim Kaine, D-Va., and Al Franken, D-Minn., are among the biggest names to get on board -- positioning themselves in a familiar game in which early supporters are often rewarded with plum administration jobs or some political favor if their candidate wins.

Its a time-honored tradition, said Joe Trippi, a Democratic strategist and Fox News contributor. And a lot of candidates remember who was there early, who was willing to take the leap.

What makes Clintons case so remarkable is the number of soft endorsements from A-list Democrats before she has officially announced whether she will run.

Kaine was among the first, telling a gathering of female Democrats in South Carolina this spring that Clinton is the right person for the job.

So Im doing my bit now to encourage Hillary Clinton to run, he said.

Clinton appears to have plenty of encouragement, including extraordinary early-polling numbers.

A recent averaging of polls by RealClearPolitics.com shows her leading all potential Democratic White House candidates with 61.5 percent of the likely vote -- 49.2 percentage points ahead of her closest potential challenger, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren.

Though Clinton also enjoyed the lead in early polls in her 2008 presidential run, such numbers appear enticing for politicians, donors and others looking for perhaps a once-in-a-lifetime chance to have a friend in the White House and even land a top appointment.

Franken is among the most recent to give his support.
