Based on suffragists and the American women's suffrage movement, Suffs is a stage musical with music, lyrics, and a book by Shaina Taub.

It primarily focuses on the historical events leading up to the ratification of the 19th amendment to the US Constitution in 1920, which granted the right to vote to some women, primarily white women.

April 2022 saw its off-Broadway debut at The Public Theater.

On April 18, 2024, the production had its Broadway debut at the Music Box Theatre.

Critics gave it favorable reviews, and it was nominated for six Tony Awards, including Best Musical, at the 77th Tony Awards.

The play stars Will Brill, Andrew R. Butler, Juliana Canfield, Eli Gelb, Tom Pecinka, Sarah Pidgeon, and Chris Stack.

Audra McDonald, Brian Stokes Mitchell, and Bebe Neuwirth are participating in a special tribute in honor of Chita Rivera, who died in January at the age of 91.

They are honoring Rivera's illustrious seven-decade career in theater, having been in several musicals like Chicago, Bye Bye Birdie, West Side Story, and many more.

Ariana DeBose also joined in on the performance, dancing to America from West Side Story.

Actor Jim Parsons presented the award for Best Revival of a Play to Appropriate.

The play stars Sarah Paulson, Corey Stoll, and Michael Esper, among many others.

Andrew Rannells and Josh Gad took the stage as their characters in Guttenberg! The Musical in a comedy strip about what a revival of a musical is.

"It means that our show is already a classic," Rannells's character said.

They immediately after introduced nominee Jim Parsons.

The former first lady, presidential candidate and US secretary of state, and now Professor Hillary Clinton, recently went out of her way to accuse Columbia students and others protesting the Israeli genocide of Palestinians in their homeland of historical ignorance.

I have had many conversations with a lot of young people over the last many months now, Clinton saidon MSNBC last month. They dont know very much at all about the history of the Middle East, or frankly about history, in many areas of the world, including in our own country.

How should we gauge Clintons assessment of students in the very same university where she is now teaching as a professor of practice?

Clinton was on the US network to promote a new musical she has produced, Suffs, about American suffragists and their fight for voting rights.

Even before she became a Broadway musical producer, Clinton had a long and distinguished career in what is euphemistically called public service in this country, which might seem to justify her capacity to pass such harsh and categorical judgements on younger Americans now risking their lives and livelihoods to protest the states active engagement in a colossal genocide halfway around the globe.

It is, of course, not fair to single out Clinton in a deeply corrupt political culture, but she is a leading Zionist in American politics.

So exposing genocidal Zionism, as these students are doing, for what it is and what it has always been - and what it is doing right now - does not sit well with the former secretary of state, who is known in the US for never seeing a war she did not like.

Clinton was a highly active first lady when her husband was president (1993-2001), advocating for various worthy causes. Twice, she was a serious presidential contender, once against Barack Obama during Democratic primaries, and once against Donald Trump in general elections - and she served as her countrys top diplomat under Obama.

In 2023, she became a professor at Columbia Universitys School of International and Public Affairs. She has also authored a number of popular books, including her memoirs Living History (2003), Hard Choices (2014) and What Happened (2017).

Thus, her considered judgment, expressed publicly, about our students protesting their universitys financial investments in a genocidal, settler-colonial state cannot be readily dismissed. We need to consider the matter more carefully, especially since Clinton herself once threatened to totally obliterate Iran, a country of some 80 million human beings, if it came anywhere near Israel.

Clintons active Zionist record notwithstanding, why would she, with all her erudition and achievements, dismiss an entire generation of American students, alongside their parents and teachers, as ignorant?

Who is ignorant: someone trapped inside a self-serving body of ideological convictions, or someone liberated from such limitations?

Let us put her own sustained record of warmongering on the table: there is a reason she is known as Hillary the Hawk.

From Iraq in 2002, to Pakistan throughout the Obama years, to Afghanistan in 2009, to Libya in 2011, to Syria in 2012, she is proven and documented to have been a consistently wild warmonger, promoting American military domination around the globe. Her vast erudition and knowledge are of the sort that when push comes to shove, and she is in a position of power, she opts to drop bombs on people rather than reason with them.

During her MSNBC interview, Clinton referenced the Israel-Palestine deal that my husband (her phrase) backed in 2000, and that, by her estimation, former Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat turned down because he was afraid he would be killed, as former Egyptian President Anwar Sadat was assassinated after signing a peace treaty with Israel.

From this false premise, she then targeted protesting students and teachers: Propaganda is not education. Indeed! But who is doing the propagandising on MSNBC - Clinton, or any of the students at Columbia and other campuses?

The form of knowledge that Clinton exudes is a closed-circuit system. It just talks to itself. It is her husband who wanted to make peace and the Palestinians who thwarted the process. The Clintons are reasonable and fair, and their opponents are terrorist Islamists.

This is the sort of self-indulgent knowledge with which leading American politicians humour themselves. They dislike these protesting students, because they have punctured that false pretence.

The students know this history, but they also have access to additional archives that Clinton seems to lack. So who is ignorant: someone trapped inside a self-serving body of ideological convictions, or someone liberated from such limitations?

What stands between the two sides Clinton manufactures are the Palestinian people themselves - along with their thoughts, convictions and sufferings. Clinton blames professors for indoctrinating students with propaganda instead of teaching them. Which ones, exactly: Rashid Khalidi, Joseph Massad, Lila Abu-Lughod, Wael Hallaq, Nadia Abu El Haj - or before them all, the late Edward Said? Except for Said, these are all now Clintons own colleagues at Columbia. Has she ever bothered to talk with them?

The closed-circuit knowledge from which Clinton speaks and accuses these students is incurably monolingual, unlike many of the protesters she criticises, who are fluent in various languages.

This pathologically monolingual limitation, of course, is not Clintons fault.This malady is endemic to the entirety of the American foreign policy establishment. And while Clinton is a well-read, well-spoken, intelligent and articulate person - who next to Trump, looks like a descendant of Christine de Pizan or Mary Wollstonecraft - this is all part of an imperial loop, hermetically sealed to the miseries of the outside world that she and her ilk have been instrumental in creating.

In her limited imperial imagination, the Israelis are the rich friend and the Palestinians the poor enemy. The students occupying university campuses, who look like a nuisance to her, have brought their broader knowledge right to her office window at Columbia.She appears woefully unaware of the moral power of this turning tide.

The granddaughter of Hillary Clinton's mentor was arrested on felony burglary charges after she occupied a Stanford University building during anti-Israel protests last week.

Zoe Edelman, a rising senior and a managing editor of the Stanford Daily, was one of 13 students who barricaded themselves inside the Stanford president's office while demanding that the school divest from Israel, according to arrest records.

Edelman is the granddaughter of Children's Defense Fund founder Marian Wright Edelman, whom Hillary Clinton has called "my hero and mentor." Clinton interned with Marian Wright Edelman while studying at Yale Law School, and she later served on the board of the Children's Defense Fund.

"Adults can have mentors, too. I had one after I met Marian Wright Edelman during my first year of Yale Law School," Clinton wrote in The Person Who Changed My Life, a book on mentorship edited by Matilda Cuomo. "Marian, a civil rights lawyer and children's advocate, inspired my own commitment to justice."

Edelman's husband, Peter Edelman, served in the Department of Health and Human Services under President Bill Clinton, but he resigned in protest of the administration's welfare reform policies in 1996. Peter Edelman later served as president of the liberal New Israel Fund.

Zoe Edelman was part of a group calling itself "Liberate Stanford," which smashed a window and broke into the administration offices around 5:30 a.m. last Wednesday. After entering, group members began "knocking down interior doors to gain access to locked private offices," where they "damaged and vandalized offices and their contents," according to Stanford administrators.

"Surveillance video shows that a number of individuals entered the building but then left before the protestors who wanted to be arrested began barricading themselves inside," school officials said.

The activists barricaded themselves in the president's office for three hours. Arrest logs show that Edelman and 12 other students were taken into custody by Stanford police on felony burglary charges.

The news comes days after protesters caused extensive damage to campus buildings, including graffiti reading, "Death 2 America," "De@th 2 Isr@hell," and "kill cops," the Wall Street Journal reported.

The Clintons and the Edelmans have remained close despite some political disagreements in the 1990s. Marian Wright Edelman has called Clinton an "old friend" but criticized her economic policies as too conservative.

"Hillary Clinton is an old friend, but [the Clintons] are not friends in politics," Edelman said in a 2007 interview with Democracy Now. "We profoundly disagreed with the forms of the welfare reform bill, and we said so."

The hosts of "The View" on Tuesday reacted to former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton speaking out about the Democratic party's shortcomings and the state of the upcoming election.

Clinton called out her party for not passing laws to protect Roe v. Wade in an interview with The New York Times published over the holiday weekend.

"We didn't take it seriously, and we didn't understand the threat," Clinton told the Times. "Most Democrats, most Americans, did not realize we are in an existential struggle for the future of this country."

Host Sara Haines shared Clinton's frustration with the Democratic party's inability to pass laws protecting Roe.

"Hillary Clinton was critical of Democrats for dropping the ball on not codifying Roe v. Wade. I've said that here before, it really bothers me," Haines said.

"I couldn't tell you today what Joe Biden's core campaign message is," Griffin said.

Host Sunny Hostin also said Republicans will follow their party more often than Democrats.

"They just fall in line and they've done that repeatedly," Hostin said. "I wish the Democrats did the same things."

In the Times interview, Clinton stressed how she seems the upcoming election as nothing short of a referendum on American democracy.

"If we don't make the right decision in this election in our country, we may never have another actual election. I will put that out there because I believe it," Clinton said. "And if we no longer have another actual election, we will be governed by a small minority of right-wing forces that are well organized and well funded and are getting exactly what they want in terms of turning the clock back on women."

Hostin pointed out that while the majority of Hispanic and Black women voted for Clinton in 2016, the majority of white women voted for Trump.

"There were 53% of white women that turned to Trump. I will never understand that statistic, actually," Hostin said. "And I hope that does not happen again. I think it's very, very important that people understand what an existential threat this man is to women in particular."

Host Whoopi Goldberg agreed with Hostin.

"I don't think there's a Democrat on the face of this earth who doesn't realize what a threat he is," Goldberg said.
