PBworks Releases Project Hub to Compete With Basecamp

SAN MATEO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

PBworks, a leading provider of online team collaboration solutions for business and education, today announced PBworks Project Hub, free enterprise-grade project management software. Project Hub (http://www.getprojecthub.com), based on the PBworks collaboration suite, goes beyond simple task management and to-do lists to incorporate content collaboration, social software, and enterprise integration capabilities.

Project Hub gives users everything they need to collaborate on a project in a single, secure online space:

* Assemble project team members on a single platform, including customers, partners, and vendors, complete with detailed social profiles

* Store, discuss, search, and share text, documents, images, and video

* Assign and track deadlines and deliverables

* Stay current on task progress with automated notifications and activity streams

* View a visual, single-screen summary of your project

In comparison to the popular project management tool Basecamp, Project Hub offers a truly free option that doesn't impose a time-limited trial. Project Hub also provides greater content capabilities, especially when working with Microsoft Office documents, and greater customizability and branding for working with clients and customers.

And unlike Basecamp, which is aimed at small to medium-sized businesses, Project Hub draws on PBworks' enterprise heritage to offer more organization, comprehensive security and access control, and integration with existing systems like Active Directory.

Joint mentoring programme of ICFOSS, ASF

Thiruvananthapuram, June 4 (IANS) State-owned International Centre for Free and Open Source Software (ICFOSS) will have a joint mentoring programme with the Apache Software Foundation (ASF) to identify talented software developers from Kerala.

The ASF is one of the largest and most reputed producers of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in the world.

Verivo Software Transforms Itself to Meet Market Demand and Unveils Open Enterprise Mobility App Platform

WALTHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Verivo Software, the enterprise mobility company, today announced Verivo Akula a new mobile app platform designed to radically simplify the complexities of building, securing and controlling custom enterprise apps. Verivo has also dramatically transformed its go-to-market strategy to meet todays market demands. The company will be offering free trials of its software and is, once again, setting the pricing standard for the industry with its simplified and predictable pricing model.

Akula is the first mobile app platform that allows users to effectively build and execute on transactional business apps even when the user is out of coverage range. It also allows IT operation teams, such as help desks, to control and manage the operations of these apps, while meeting rigorous security requirements. Akula is the only enterprise mobile app platform that has been designed from the start to be deployed on-premise or in the cloud.

The Making of Verivo Akula (pronounced Ah-KOO-lah)

Akula, built in collaboration with Verivos diverse group of enterprise mobile customers and partners, is designed to address the major challenges of building and managing custom enterprise apps in a novel way. Akula gives developers the freedom to use any standard development tool to build and update apps. The platform also makes it extremely easy to deploy, secure, monitor and troubleshoot these apps in todays multi-device, multi-operating system environments.

The Verivo team built this entirely new product in a modular, extendable manner so additional capabilities can be quickly incorporated into the platform to meet market demands of today and tomorrow. Akula has a very light footprint, is holistically designed and easily scalable. The platform integrates easily into existing corporate environments and is compatible with todays mobile ecosystem, including front-end, testing and proprietary tools.

Open API projects will continue to evolve and be top-of-mind for mobile app developers, said Charlotte Dunlap, senior analyst, Application Platforms, Current Analysis. With mobile app platform vendors, such as Verivo Software, opening up their technology and delivering new ways to build and manage enterprise mobile apps, developers are further empoweredto meet the needs of the evolving market.

New go-to-market strategy

Verivo is changing its business strategy to cater to the way developers and corporate users build and manage their mobile initiatives. The company will primarily engage, educate and sell online. Users can download Akula and try the platform for 30 days at no cost. They will have full access to Verivos support and DevCenter and all product documentation and tutorials will be open to the public.

Verivo is also introducing predictable and incremental pricing so a company can use the product in phases starting with just development licenses to deploying a pilot of their app to expanding to a full scale deployment. This progressive pricing model allows a company to try the software without paying premium prices upfront. It can then expand its mobile initiative with the knowledge of what the incremental project costs will be versus adopting the per-app or per-transaction models that are prevalent in the industry.

i-Free, Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank and MasterCard come together to introduce first NFC wallet with remote Mobile …

MOSCOW--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

i-Free company introduced the first full-featured NFC wallet in Russia and CIS. Embedded in smartphones and the TSM (Trusted Service Manager) platform, the wallet brings all the advantages of NFC technology to Russian and CIS consumers, including the remote issue and secure download of Mobile MasterCard PayPass cards.

Both the NFC wallet and the TSM platform were developed by i-Free specifically to support mobile contactless payment technology. Three services are available to users: the Mobile MasterCard PayPass payment card issued by Tinkoff Credit Systems Bank, transportation fare cards for a number of regional centers in Russia, and a geolocation-based coupon service. Until now, such services have only been available to a small number of users, but this announcement heralds the beginning of broader commercial use.

A package solution including NFC wallet and TSM platform allows users to significantly extend the usefulness of their smartphones, transforming the device into a universal storage unit for the latest smart cards and their associated applications.

This new solution is radically different from current NFC solutions available in Russia and the CIS in that it enables users to download payment, transportation and other cards in the same way as they download games and apps. All the user needs to do to make a payment at a point-of-sale is to touch contactless reader that supports the MasterCard PayPass technology with their phone. Both the NFC wallet and TSM platform comply with the highest security standards, and are protected against fraud at the software and hardware levels. The TSM platform also complies with all required industrial standards, and takes into account the requirements and specifications of the Russian transportation infrastructure.

The NFC wallet offers not only the basic functions of Mobile MasterCard PayPass card download and use in retail and service outlets, but also the ability to pay for goods and services from within the application itself. The user can buy a ticket for public transportation or download a coupon and pay for it with a bank card in a single click.

Today, the NFC wallet is integrated into three smartphone models the Philips W336, the HTC One and the HTC One SV. The application supporting the wallet is embedded in the phone as a part of the system software, which ensures the compatibility with the hardware characteristics of those specific phone models and makes available all the functionality of the Android platform.

"The smartphone with NFC wallet support will significantly increase market share in the coming months. According to our estimates no fewer than one million such phones will appear on the Russian market before the year is out, says Pavel Sokolov, i-Frees project leader. When we were creating the NFC wallet, we took into account that we were developing an application that people would use every day, so we focused on making the wallet secure and easy to use by anyone. That is why we designed a simple, self-explanatory user interface and embedded many functions so that using the app would be intuitive.

i-Free TSM platform support for NFC-compatible SIM-cards from mobile carriers will be added in the nearest future, which will provide access to bank, transportation, and other service providers for a broader consumer audience.

Kirill Gorynya, Head of i-Free Innovations commented: This is the first full-featured NFC solution on the Russian and CIS market and we hope that its arrival will encourage interested companies to create and implement NFC compatible services to meet the needs of todays mobile consumers. International experience shows that there is a high demand for NFC services in different areas of life and business across widely different social groups.
