Award-winning author Walter Isaacson is set to give us an intimate look into the life of one of the era's most defining innovators, Elon Musk with his latest biography now available for pre-order on Amazon.

Elon Musk, a figure synonymous with audacious innovation and the technological revolution of our time, will be featured in Isaacson's in-depth biography, exploring the aspects of his life that shaped him into the revolutionary figure he is today. Musk took to Twitter to react to the upcoming release, stating, "Theres probably some really embarrassing stuff in the book." However, he added a note of endorsement, praising Isaacson's thoroughness and recommending his other works.

Isaacson's meticulous research entailed shadowing Musk for two years, attending his meetings, and interviewing family, friends, co-workers, and even adversaries to create an all-encompassing portrayal of this contemporary figure. The narrative will explore the paradoxical question: Are the very demons that drive Musk integral to his unique capacity to drive innovation and progress?

Excitement is brewing among Tesla enthusiasts as the EV manufacturer prepares to roll out an updated version of its FSD Beta software.

In a recent tweet, Tesla CEO Elon Musk revealed that FSD Beta 11.4.2 is expected to be released this weekend, with a focus on addressing some easily fixable bugs that had been identified. This release likely refers to Tesla employees receiving the latest beta, however, we've seen instances where Tesla rolls it out to public testers, just a day after the employee release.

As usual, the journey towards a wide release of the latest major FSD Beta is an iterative process. About a month ago, Tesla released beta 11.4 to Tesla employees. While it showed promise, version 11.4 did not extend beyond Tesla's employee base. However, the subsequent release, v11.4.1 was finally made available to a small group of public testers, comprising approximately 4% of the total tester pool.

Elon Musk's tweet shed light on the specific improvements coming with version 11.4.2. In his tweet, Musk highlighted the software's focus on addressing excess conservatism related to narrow roads and lane changes in heavy traffic. By fine-tuning these aspects, Tesla aims to optimize the system's efficiency, and ensure greater accuracy and reliability.

FSD Beta 11.4.1 is version 2023.7.5, but appears to be based on update 2023.6, as it includes all of the Tesla features in update 2023.2 and 2023.6. FSD Beta 11.4.2 is expected to be a minor revision and will likely remain based on the same code branch.

This will, unfortunately, mean that owners on update 2023.12 or higher will likely remain ineligible for this latest beta when it finally goes into wide release.

As FSD Beta version 11.4.2 begins its rollout, Tesla enthusiasts and public testers eagerly await the opportunity to provide feedback and experience the latest advancements. Tesla's iterative approach, gathering real-world user feedback, has proven valuable in refining their self-driving technology. While debate surrounding Tesla's deployment strategy persists, the gradual expansion of the FSD Beta program signifies Tesla's confidence in the progress made thus far.

Tesla's Model X Plaid has long been celebrated for its unrivaled speed and innovation. Boasting a breathtaking 0-60 mph time of just 2.5 seconds, it is a testament to the extraordinary power of electric technology. This seven-seater SUV not only holds its own against the fastest of sports cars but even outperforms many on the quarter-mile drag strip.

Yet, there's been something missing from the Model X Plaid's toolkit: Track Mode. Track Mode takes the electric racing experience to an all-new level, enabling EVs to withstand the rigors of high-intensity track driving. Following its successful rollout on the Model 3 Performance and then the Model S Plaid, and more recently the Model Y Performance, the question was inevitable: when would the Model X Plaid get its turn?

During the recent 2023 Annual Shareholder Meeting, Tesla CEO Elon Musk gave a definitive answer to this question, confirming that Track Mode would indeed be coming to the Model X Plaid. Responding to a shareholder's query, Musk commented, "Yeah, we could probably add that, sure. No problem." This candid statement was met with enthusiastic approval from the audience.

Tesla recently made big improvements to Track Mode for the Model S Plaid, showing more information and making critical information front and center.

The speedometer is now large and centered on the instrument cluster, and the battery and motor temperatures are now more detailed and have moved over to the center display. In addition to those changes, Tesla is now displaying additional information such as front and rear brake temperatures, as well as tire PSI.

These updates were added in the recent 2023.12.8 software update.

Yet, the implementation of Track Mode in the Model X Plaid is unlikely to be straightforward. As Musk has noted in the past, developing and tuning this mode for specific models can be challenging, given the need to ensure seamless performance under demanding driving conditions. Despite this, the announcement has electrified the Tesla community, sparking anticipation for what the future holds for Model X Plaid owners.

So, gear up and get ready. As Tesla continues to push the boundaries of EV performance, the advent of Track Mode on the Model X Plaid promises to unlock an even more thrilling driving experience.

Elon Musk in the Spotlight: Pre-orders Begin for Walter Isaacson's ... - Not a Tesla App

Shortly after Tesla CEO Elon Musk strongly voiced his opinion against the work-from-home culture, Shark Tank investor Kevin O'Leary suggested that he has no issue with remote work.

What Happened: Working from home is not morally wrong, O'Leary said in an interview with CNN on Thursday. The world, the economy and the ethics of work have changed, he said.

The pandemic necessitated a move away from working in the office and toward working from home, the latter of which had been considered too risky in the past, the Canadian entrepreneur explained.

Now, it's a proven method of project management, he said.

O'Leary, who famously calls himself Mr. Wonderful, however, gave Musk the benefit of the doubt. In highly-engineered businesses such as Tesla or SpaceX, there could be a need to work in person, OLeary said.

But it has nothing to do with the other 10 sectors of the economy, he added.

While noting that he has about 54 companies across almost every state and representing almost every sector, he said just under 40% of employees are working remotely permanently.

O'Leary also noted that post-pandemic, with the work-from-home setting in place, his businesses have generated 17.5% cash flow compared to 15% before the pandemic.

Thats a 20% increase in free cash flow. So you cant tell me this doesnt work, O'Leary said.

In fact, I want to do more of this because Im reducing my cost of real estate, he added.

Why It's Important: Since the pandemic, companies have been divided over bringing people back to the office.

Apple, for one, has been strict about getting employees back in the office, although there have been signs of reluctance.

Meta's Mark Zuckerberg, while announcing layoffs in March, shared an analysis that showed that company employees onboarded in person and worked at the office performed better than those who joined and continued to work remotely.

Some companies have adopted remote work permanently, while others have preferred hybrid work schedules.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk claimed on Tuesday he is "the reason that OpenAI exists," citing his past investment in the entity, and that Microsoft exerts control over the AI company, an assertion strongly denied by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella.

"I came up with the name," Musk told CNBC's David Faber. He also said he was instrumental in recruiting key scientists and engineers at the company.

Musk has previously repeatedly asserted that Microsoft controls OpenAI and that OpenAI's capped-profit model is questionable. Musk was an early backer of the AI startup, reportedly committing to $1 billion in support before pulling out over disagreements over the speed of OpenAI's advancements. He said he ultimately invested somewhere around $50 million.

He also suggested that OpenAI didn't place sufficient emphasis on safe AI development. Musk was a signatory to a March open letter asking for a pause in advanced AI development while safeguards were established but told Faber that he knew the letter was unlikely to do anything.

Despite signing the letter, Musk still incorporated a rival AI firm, X.AI, in April.

But Musk added that signing the letter warning of the dangers of AI was something he wanted to do "for the record."

An OpenAI spokesperson was not immediately available to comment.

Separately, Musk told Faber that he used to be close friends with Google co-founder Larry Page and that the two of them would have lengthy conversations about the nature of artificial intelligence.

Page was "quite cavalier" about AI, Musk claimed. Page "did not seem to be concerned about AI safety," Musk alleged, and said, "The final straw was Larry calling me a 'species-ist' for being pro-human consciousness instead of machine consciousness."

Larry Page was not immediately available for comment.

After awarding Elon Musks SpaceX a $3 billion contract to put humans on the Moon by 2025, NASA has also awarded a similar contract to Jeff Bezos Blue Origin, worth $3.4 billion.

In a recent statement, Jeff Bezos announced that his private space exploration company, Blue Origin had secured a significant contract worth $3.4 billion with NASA, bringing him closer to his goal of sending humans to the Moon.

NASA expands its Artemis programmeNASA revealed that Bezos private rocket company, Blue Origin, has been awarded the contract as part of the Artemis programme, which aims to return astronauts to the Moon. Unfortunately for Bezos, Musks SpaceX was granted a similar Artemis contract back in 2021, positioning Musk and his company way ahead in the race. For their part, Musks SpaceX recently conducted a successful launch of their Starship rocket that is supposed to be used for the Artemis mission.

With Musk and SpaceX leading the way, NASAs recent contract with Blue Origin intensifies the competition between the two billionaires. Over the years, Bezos and Musk have engaged in some heated debates, exchanging jabs regarding their respective efforts to spearhead humanitys space exploration endeavours.

In an Instagram post, Jeff Bezos expressed his excitement by declaring, We are going to the Moon! Accompanying the statement was a depiction of Blue Origins proposed lunar lander, hinting at Bezos intention to establish a permanent human presence on the Moon. This indicates that his mission carries a more ambitious scope compared to Musks efforts.

Bezos and Blue Origin had also vied for the contract but were unsuccessful. NASA emphasized that the upcoming missions will explore a greater expanse of the lunar surface than ever before. The objective of sending humans back to the Moon is to conduct research that will contribute to the eventual launch of similar missions to Mars.

While announcing Blue Origins contract, NASAs chief administrator, Bill Nelson, expressed a positive outlook on the competition and stated that the agency welcomes more contenders in this space race.

During a conference at NASA HQ in Washington, Jeff Bezos highlighted the significance of having backups and reliability in space missions. He emphasized that having multiple providers ensures redundancy and increased mission success.

Blue Origins lunar lander head, John Couluris, revealed that the company had privately contributed an amount exceeding the $3.4 billion contract payout. This demonstrates the long-standing commitment of Bezos and his team to establish a permanent outpost on the Moon.

What will Blue Origin and SpaceX do for NASAs Artemis mission?While Blue Origin has been relatively discreet about the specifics of its Moon lander proposal, it has mentioned its corporate partners, including Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Draper (a spacecraft software firm), and Astrobotic (a robotics firm), as part of Artemis V mission.

Elon Musks NASA Artemis missions, utilizing SpaceXs Starship system, are planned for later in the decade, with Blue Origins missions currently scheduled for 2029, shortly after.

Blue Origins Artemis V mission aims to deploy astronauts to the lunar surface, specifically focusing on exploring the icy southern pole of the Moon. It will be the first Artemis mission to utilize NASAs proposed orbital Lunar Gateway in conjunction with a landing on the Moons surface.

On the other hand, NASA selected SpaceX to develop the first commercial human lander to safely carry the next two American astronauts to the lunar surface, as part of the Artemis III mission. The human landing system will be used for both Artemis III and Artemis IV.

As outlined in NASAs budget proposal from March, the mission involves delivering the European Space Agencys ESPRIT refuelling and communications module to NASAs Gateway, along with a Canadian-made robotic arm system. During the surface phase of the mission, the Artemis astronauts will also transport an unpressurized lunar rover, as indicated by NASAs working manifest chart.

Blue Origin validated?This contract is a significant achievement for Bezos and Blue Origin, as it validates their extensive investments since the companys establishment in 2000. Their aim has been to compete for prominent commercial and government space contracts, particularly with SpaceX, a dominant player in satellite launches and human spaceflight.

Blue Origin, along with lawmakers, exerted pressure on NASA to award a second lunar lander contract to promote commercial competition and ensure the agency has alternative means to reach the Moon. In response, NASA announced a program for a second lander contract in early 2022.
