Democrat-turned-Republican touts endorsements — from Democrats
Democrat-turned-Republican Mark Miloscia is touting his new endorsements from Democrats.
Miloscia was a longtime Democraticmember of the state House who announced aswitch inpartieswhen hebegan a bid as aRepublicanfor state Senate this yearin District 30, which includes parts of King and Pierce counties.
Now, Miloscia has made a webpagefeaturing a slew of endorsements by Democrats.
But the Democrats on the list arent all beloved party icons. Included are retiring state Senate Majority Leader Rodney Tom and Sen. Tim Sheldon two Democrats whohavejoinedwith the Republican minority the last couple yearsto form the Majority Coalition Caucus that holds control of the Senate. Another on the list is former State Auditor Brian Sonntag, who endorsed Republican Rob McKenna for governor against Jay Insleeand who in 2013 joined a conservative think tank.
Mark Miloscia has been a fighter for government transparency and accountability his entire career while standing up for those less fortunate, Sonntag said a statement released by Miloscias campaign. As a Democrat, I trust Mark to fight for the principles he and I share.
Miloscias Democraticopponent in the Senate race, Shari Song, is not impressed. She described the list as so-called Democrats and said Miloscia was trying to distract voters from his switch.
Alot of Democrats are really upset that he betrayed them and switched on a dime, she said Wednesday afternoon.
In July, we touched on Miloscias tenure as a Democrat, including his disagreements with former Gov. Chris Gregoire and his challenge of Rep. Frank Chopp for the House speakership.
