A brand new specialist police station being built in Norwich has taken another step forward with the completion of its huge steel frame.

Broadland Police Station is currently being constructed at Broadland Business Park in Old Chapel Way.

Detective resources will be brought together under one roof in the new station enabling access to modern technology needed to tackle complex crime.

The project forms parts of the force's wider estate plan,which will see officers and staff move from out-dated buildings which are expensive to run.

R G Carter, the main contractor for the new police station near Postwick, held a steel signing ceremony on the first floor of the main office building this week with police and crime commissioner Giles Orpen-Smellie among those in attendance.

Chief constable, Paul Sanford, said:We recognise this is a significant investmenthowever in the long-run it will save the constabulary considerable costs across our entire estate.

"This is money can be invested into frontline policing, tackling the crimes and issues which matter most to our communities.

Broadland Gate Police Station is due to be completed in Autumn 2022 and will be the second of two new investigation centres across Norfolk.

The new building will be a central hub for detective investigations, safeguarding, crime scene investigation and public protection services, servicing both Norwich and wider east Norfolk communities.

Mr Orpen-Smelliesaid: As landlord of the police estates I was delighted to be invited to the signing ceremony a true milestone for Norfolk Constabulary.

It was good to meet those involved in the construction of the new facility which will not only benefit those living and working in the Broadland area, but many others who may be in need of support from one of the specialist policing teams who will be based in the station.

Guests were also shown round the site following the steel signing ceremony this week.

Mario Rackham, director and general manager of R G Carter, said: "It was hugely rewarding to be able to welcome all those involved in the project to see the progress weve made on site and to celebrate this milestone with those who will benefit from it the most."

Cheers was one of the most celebrated sitcoms in Hollywood which ran for 11 seasons giving fans some of the hilarious scenes in the history of television shows. The cast members were lauded because of their incredible acting skills and coordination which have made this 1982 sitcom a fan favourite even in 2021. Shelley Long's Diane Chambers was a barmaid in Cheers. After Cheers, Long played DeDe Pritchett in the 2009 series Modern Family. She starred in movies includingTroop Beverly Hills, The Brady Bunch Movie and Dr T & the Women.

Rhea Perlman aka Carla Tortelli

Carla Tortelli was a cocktail waitress at the Cheers bar. After Cheers, Perlman starred in the sitcom Pearl and was also a cast member of the movie Matilda. She had a recurring role in The Mindy Project.

George Wendt aka Norm Peterson

Norm Peterson was a regular customer at Cheers. After Cheers, Wendt starred in movies includingFletch, Gung Ho, Dreamscape, House, Forever Young, Hostage for a Day, Man of the House, and Lakeboat.

Woody Harrelson aka Woody Boyd

Woody Harrelson's Woody Boyd was a bartender in Cheers. Woody has since then been one of the most famous cast members of Cheers. He has starred in movies including Venom, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, The Hunger Games, Indecent Proposal, among others.

A Deep Run structural fire left one dead and another injured Friday afternoon.

At approximately 3:45 p.m., the Deep Run Volunteer Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 1719 Vernie Heath Road in Deep Run. Lenoir County EMS, Pink Hill Volunteer Fire Department and Southwood Volunteer Fire Department also responded to the scene, according tothe Lenoir County Sheriffs Office.

The person injured was transported by Lenoir County EMS to a hospital. Names have not been released.

The Lenoir County Emergency Services Fire Marshal, along with the Lenoir County Sheriffs Office Crime Scene Investigation unit and the Office of State Fire Marshal are conducting the investigation of the fire.

At this time, nothing appears to be criminal in nature.

The Lenoir County Fire Marshal and Lenoir County Emergency Services will follow up with the investigation.

Lenoir County Sheriff Ronnie Ingram offers his sincere condolences to the family of the victim for their loss from this tragedy.

Boonton Township

Authorities in Morris County announced an investigation into a deceased person found in the Town of Boonton.

In a press release, officials said on Monday at approximately 9:50 a.m., law enforcement was dispatched to the Rockaway River in the Town of Boonton on a report of a body.

While searching the area, officials said law enforcement located the body of a 71-year-old man.

Officials said the identity of the individual will not be released at this time.

The mans body was recovered from the ice and the Medical Examiners Office is completing the investigation.

While the investigation remains ongoing, the incident is not suspected to be criminal at this time, nor is there any danger to the public.

This is an ongoing joint investigation conducted by the Morris County Prosecutors Office Major Crimes Unit, Morris County Sheriffs Office Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Boonton Police Department Detective Bureau and Boonton Fire Department Swiftwater Rescue Team.
