If we are to compare football to chess, one could readily equate the quarterback with a knight or bishop. The movements arent always linear, and the effects on the opposition can be devastating, particularly if the defense doesnt already have an awareness of how the piece (player) moves.

Lincoln Riley doesnt want to give the opposition a clear read on how he moves his pieces on the chessboard. This came through in a Riley Files podcast episode from last summer. Oklahoma expert Kegan Reneau shares this insight:

He (Riley) would say, You guys know I dont talk about my scheme or anything like this out in the media. Hes very, very introverted, very reserved, Reneau said. In Los Angeles (referring to the 2022 offseason), he has done a bunch of media tours. He said a bunch of different things without saying the main thing people wanna know, which is why you left Oklahoma. He just said a bunch of different things that dont add up, as well as throwing in, Hey, alignment, vision resources, all that fun stuff.

Riley doesnt want to offer that central, essential clue about his next move.

An IRL Chess stream by alyssazhu went wrong as her camera was knocked over before a racist tirade against one of her opponents while live on Twitch.

IRL streaming has long been one of Twitchs most controversial genres, as IRL streams have seen many problems such as swatting, streamers performing sexually explicit acts, and showing abusive acts on camera, just to name a few examples.

Despite its controversies, many creators want to bring their streams outside of their normal setting, which was what chess streamer Alyssazhu did when she hosted a recent IRL stream in a park. inviting parkgoers to games of chess.

However, the broadcast faced a few issues, in particular, a passerby intentionally knocked down her camera in the middle of a game, which was eventually followed by a separate racist tirade from another passerby.

In a clip of her camera being knocked over, we can see Alyssa concentrate on her game of chess as observers around the table eye a person out of the frame. The person would eventually go past the camera and knock it over.

People off-camera asked why he had knocked over the camera, with Alyssa remaining mostly silent, of which was responded with a flurry of cursing.

Later into the same stream, another random passerby would racially abuse an opponent of Alyssas during a match, seemingly unprompted.

During a match, noticeably later into the day around sunset, a passerby off camera suddenly approaches Alyssas table and hurls a racist tirade upon her opponent.

The person off-camera can be heard saying, Im sitting here minding my business, you dont f***ing think about me you f***ing goof. You f***ing stand there and f***ing vegetate you f***ing n*****.

It was quite clear the tirade surprised the table, but they just smiled at each other without much thought and continued their game of chess.

The VOD for the stream was eventually taken down by Alyssa, most likely to avoid getting a community ban due to the racist rant.

You couldn't go wrong having fun at the 5th Street Chess Tournament with squirt guns, badminton, frisbees and of course, exciting chess. A picnic of hot dogs and doughnuts topped off the fun.

Congratulations to Frank Morse undefeated in the advanced section. Jordan Florez and Jeremiah Thompson tied for second and Gabe Dunn came in 3rd.

Congratulations to the Novice section that resulted in a four-way tie for first place. So had a round robin playoff and still have a tie for first. Great job Jack Taylor, Malichai Florez, George Philippeos and Blake Yeager. August Philippeos and August Davis both showed you can never be too young for chess.

July 20 is the next Chess Club event with a Live Chess Board at the Coos Bay Fire Hall at 6:30 p.m. You become the chess pieces and fight for your lives with balloon swords. A giant chess board and novelty chess boards will be available to play with.

We, the board of the Association of Chess Professionals (ACP), hereby declare the dissolution of the organization effective immediately. After our latest Extraordinary General Assembly, the decision was reached to dissolve the organization. We have now completed all the legal requirements for the dissolution.

We have overseen the necessary administrative tasks associated with the dissolution process, including the closure of bank accounts, settlement of outstanding liabilities, and the appropriate distribution of any remaining assets in accordance with the ACP's Statute.

The ACP Statute states that "assets will be devoted [...] to an association pursuing the same objective." We have therefore reached an agreement with FIDE to dedicate our remaining assets to the World Junior Championships, starting this year. The official prizes aside, an additional 1 000 EUR "ACP Prize" will be awarded to the winners of the World Juniors (open and girls section) in the next fiveyears. In this way we hope to preserve the legacy of the ACP, at the same time helping the future professionals of our beloved game.

We have also made sure to keep ACP's website active until 2029, thus keeping its presence in the virtual world.

Over the years, the ACP has played a significant role in promoting and advancing the interests of professional chess players worldwide. We have strived to foster a sense of unity, cooperation, and support among chess professionals, advocating for their rights and creating opportunities for growth and development within the chess community.

However, due to various internal and external factors, which we have addressed in the past, it has become increasingly challenging to sustain the operations and objectives of the ACP. Despite our best efforts, we have encountered financial difficulties, a decline in membership, and limited resources to effectively fulfill our mission. The changing landscape of the chess world, coupled with evolving player needs and preferences, has necessitated a critical reassessment of our organizational structure and viability.

After thorough evaluation and discussions, we have come to the difficult conclusion that the dissolution of the ACP is the most appropriate course of action. This conclusion was supported by the voting at the EGA.

We express our deepest gratitude to all the members, sponsors, partners, and supporters who have contributed to the ACP's journey and success throughout the years. Your unwavering commitment and dedication have been instrumental in advancing the cause of professional chess and elevating its status in the world.

As we move forward, we encourage all chess professionals to remain engaged, continue pursuing their passion for the game, and explore other avenues available to them for support, collaboration, and growth. The ACP may dissolve as an organization, but its spirit in chess will always endure.

Once again, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to everyone who has been a part of the Association of Chess Professionals. Nevertheless, we remain connected through our shared love for the game and the indelible impact the ACP has had on the chess community.
