Cop shoot victims family: Stay away Sharpton!

The family of police shooting victim Akai Gurley had a message on Friday for the Rev. Al Sharpton: Keep your circus away from his funeral!

The blowhard opportunist muscled his way into the arrangements and even put out press releases promising he would deliver the eulogy without ever consulting the family or offering to foot the bill.

But Gurleys relatives told Sharpton to stay away, rather than turn the somber ceremonies into a spectacle.

Its been a nightmare, Gurleys aunt, Hertencia Petersen, told The Post. He just wants to take credit for this when hes never even contacted my sister [Gurleys mother].

Who made you the spokesperson of our family? We just want to bury our nephew with dignity and respect.

Petersen was stunned that Sharpton and his National Action Network billed him as the eulogist for a Friday funeral, when they were planning on a Saturday service and wanted a speaker who actually knew the victim.

How can you do a eulogy for someone you don`t even know? Its heartbreaking, she said.

By late Friday, Sharpton finally accepted the rare defeat though he blamed it on confusion and division within the Gurley family.

He said he will not attend Saturdays 11 a.m. service at Brown Memorial Baptist Church in Brooklyn and even backed off the Friday wake.

Rev. Al Sharpton to begin count down to Dec. 13 rally with visit to Staten Island on Saturday

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- Rev. Al Sharpton will be kicking off a week-long count down to his national march against police violence in Washington D.C. at the site of Eric Garner's death in Tompkinsville at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Sharpton will be joined by Benjamin Crump, the attorney representing the families of Michael Brown and Trayvon Martin, two African-American teens killed by police in recent incidents.

Garner died on Victory Boulevard and Bay Street, across from Tompkinsville Park.

The march was announced on Wednesday night, following the grand jury decision not to indict Daniel Pantaleo, the police officer accused in Garner's death, when Rev. Al Sharpton and Garner's family vowed to keep fighting for justice in this and related cases.

Sharpton and Garner's mother, Gwen Carr, will pay their respects at services for Akai Gurley Friday night. Gurley was unarmed when he was killed by a rookie police officer in Brooklyn last month.
