Dave Chappelle Is Done Giving Donald Trump a Chance: ‘He’s Like a Bad DJ at a Really Good Party’ – PEOPLE.com

Last year, Dave Chappelle vowed to give then-President Elect Donald Trump a chance. But how does he feel about the embattled politician seven months into the presidency?

Its not like I wanted to give him a chance that night, Chappelle told The Late Show host Stephen Colbert his November appearance on Saturday Night Live. Well work it out. Hes a polarizing dude. Hes like a bad DJ at a good party.

During his famous post-Election-Day monologue on the sketch comedy show, the 43-year-old comedian poked fun at the controversial president before declaring: Im going to give [Trump] a chance and we, the historically disenfranchised, demand that he gives us one too.

Now, after months into Trumps presidency, marred by scandal, firings and low approval ratings, Chappelle said the experience has birthed a more informed and better voter.

In the last six months, I think were all getting education about the presidency. I dont know that Ive ever heard, in just popular discourse, people discussing ethics this much, he said.

I didnt even realize how ethics was necessarily supposed to work at that level of government, and hes putting all this stuff on the forefront.

Colbert chimed in: Well, nobody really talks about oxygen until someones got their hands around your throat.

The comments come as Trump finds himself at the center of yet another media storm, this time for reportedly calling the White House a dump.

He reportedly told a group of members at aNew Jersey golf club that the reason he visited there so often was because that White House is a real dump, according toGolf.com.

However, he slammed the report in a tweet on Wednesday, writing, I love the White House, one of the most beautiful buildings (homes) I have ever seen. But Fake News said I called it a dump TOTALLY UNTRUE.

Did Someone in Congress Secretly Edit Admiral Ackbar’s Wikipedia? – Inverse

It might be a trap. But, it appears as though someone in the U.S. House of Representatives has anonymously edited the Wikipedia page about the Star Wars character Admiral Ackbar. And the strangest thing is, it looks like this person added material about the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis into the backstory of Ackbar. Okay, this is definitely a trap!

On Wednesday, the Twitter account Congress Edits noticed that someone in the U.S. House of Representatives made an edit to the Ackbar Wikipedia entry. Congress Edits determines the location of an edit made to Wikipedia based on the IP address of the user and the users account history.

Whats odd about this, is that the suggested change to Ackbars backstory would now include the story Palpatine told Anakin about Darth Plagueis in Revenge of the Sith. Obviously, Darth Plagueis has nothing to do with Admiral Ackbar, making the suggested edit weird to say the least. The edit is pretty much a cut-and-paste of Palpatines speech to Anakin all about how Darth Plauegeis was killed by his apprentice in his sleep.

As an open-source reference guide, Wikipedia allows anyone to edit articles, though a small group of editors keeps an eye on those edits. They then decide whether or not to let a revision stand, or to reverse it back.

As of Thursday, the Wikipedia entry for Admiral Ackbar does not include the Palaptaine speech to Anakin. Which should make Ackbar fans happy and has probably thwarted some insidious plot from a Sith Lord working inside of the House of Representatives.

In the Star Wars prequels, Palpatine was Senator in the Galactic Republic. His counterpart in our world, who is scurrilously spreading misinformation about everyones favorite fish-alien, remains, like the Dark Lord himself, hidden.

Admiral Ackbar is set to appear in The Last Jedi which hits theaters on December 15, 2017.

Metallica Legend Jason Newsted Plays ‘Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction?’ – Loudwire

Subscribe to Loudwire on

Wikipedia: Fact or Fiction? is back with a new season of episodes! Every Wednesday, well have a new Wiki segment for you, starting today (Aug. 2) with Metallica legend Jason Newsted!

At Newsteds RAWK art exhibition in New York City, we sat down with the iconic bassist to prove and disprove whats written about him on Wikipedia. Newsted actually started playing guitar instead of bass, writing religious songs on an acoustic axe before even knowing how to tune the thing. Newsted. shares how his first bass was actually a six-string with two tuning knobs snapped off and how his father still keeps the instrument in Jasons childhood room.

Turns out there is some truth to Metallicas famous wasabi initiation story. Just 11 days into his role as Metallicas bassist, Newsted was tricked byKirk Hammettinto eating mint ice cream while eating dinner in Japan. Already wasted, Jason ate a massive glob of wasabi, burning his mouth to hell. As Newsted describes, Metallica then abandoned the bassist, making Jason think he was stuck paying the massive bill.

Newsted corrected some fiction when we brought up a Wikipedia entry about Black Album producer Bob Rock. Wikipedia states Rock altered Metallicas working schedule and routine so much that the band swore never to record with him again, but Newsted emphatically rejected the report. I remember being so happy about the result that we wouldnt work with anybody else except for him, Newsted says. We were very proud of finally getting him into our camp [The Black Album] sells four thousand, five thousand copies a week still, guys!

I Really Shouldn’t Have Read Stephen Miller’s Wikipedia Page – The Mary Sue

During yesterdays White House press briefing, Trumps senior policy advisor and living vampire underling Stephen Miller got into a strange argument with CNNs Jim Acosta over the origins of the poem on the Statue of Liberty. The exchange is bizarre and painful to watch if youre the kind of person who hates to watch grown men yell over each other, but the gist of it was that Miller came in to introduce Trumps new plan to overhaul immigration. The proposal would institute a merit and skill-based system, and require prospective green card holders to speak English. It would also look at their salary, education level, and whether they can afford their own health care. The idea is to, over time, cut net migration in half.

Acosta asked Miller about the requirement tospeak English, saying It sounds like you are trying to engineer the racial and ethnic flow of people into this country. Miller responded that Acostas presumption that this would favorimmigration from English-speaking countries showed cosmopolitan bias, a coded term rooted in anti-Semitism.

Acosta also referenced the poem on the Statue of Liberty, asking if Miller and Trump were trying to change what it means to be an immigrant coming into this country. Millers pedantic, dismissive response was that the poemyou know the one, with the huddled masses yearning to breathe freewas essentially meaningless because it was added after the statue was erected.

I dont want to get off into a whole thing about history here, but the Statue of Liberty is a symbol of liberty lighting the world, its a symbol of liberty lighting the world. The poem you are referring to, which was added later, is not part of the original Statue of Liberty.

ETA: Yup, that sounds about right:

What Miller is ignoring is that, ashistorian John T. Cunninghamwrote,(via CNN) the Statue of Liberty was not conceived and sculpted as a symbol of immigration, but it quickly became so as immigrant ships passed under the torch and the shining face, heading toward Ellis Island. However, it was [Lazaruss poem] that permanently stamped on Miss Liberty the role of unofficial greeter of incoming immigrants.

The internet, as you might have guessed, had some thoughts.

Some people got a little more personal.

After watching Twitter drag Miller over both his statements and his general creepiness, I realized I didnt know that much about him. And friends, I really should have left it that way. I should not have googled. I should not have Wikipediad. Because this mans entire existence is so, so sad.

His entire Wikipedia entry is really short (hes only 31, after all), yet every line in it is more depressing than the one before it.

To start, I cannot even imagine how his liberal, Jewish parents in Santa Monica, California must feel when they read their son shares and ideological kinship and a long collaboration with Steve Bannon.

Stephen Miller is the worst kid you grew up with, the most annoying boy in your neighborhood, who heard his unle or someone once say something racist and then never stopped parodying it back to everyone he met. He turned conservative at the age of 12 when he read Guns, Crime, and Freedom,a dated, racist, argumentatively anecdotal book about how democrats basically use the Constitution as toilet paper, written by the CEO of the NRA.

He clearly enjoyed being politically incorrect (read: being a trolling little racist shitweasel). He would allegedly tell Latino students at his high school to speak English. He also reportedly called a friend the summer before starting high school to defriend him, giving the boy a play-by-play of all the reasons the friendship was ending, including his Latin heritage.) After 9/11, he wrote to a local paper, saying that because of his schools pacifist response, Osama Bin Laden would feel very welcome at Santa Monica High School.

Also, his yearbook quote stated Therecan be no fifty-fifty Americanism in this country. There is room here for only 100 percent Americanism, only for those who are American and nothing else. -Theodore Roosevelt.

Moving on to college! At Duke University, he may or may not have been friends with punchable Nazi Richard Spencer. Its been stated and later disputed. He had a column in the university newspaper called Miller Time (gag). Yes, his columns are still archived, and no, you shouldnt put yourself through that. Here are just a few headlines:

Hollywood and the culture war

The case for Christmas

Attack of the secularist Scrooges

Racial hypocrisy

And my favorite,

Sorry feminists

After college, Miller worked as press secretary for Tea Party members Michelle Bachmann and John Shandegg. He then worked as communications director for then-Senator and permanent racist house elf Jeff Sessions. While there, he helped Sessions kill the bipartisan immigration reform bill that would have provided undocumented immigrants with a path to citizenship. Trumps new super restrictive, super racist immigration plan is what Millers entire life has been leading to.

Most of us probably knew someone like Miller growing upas kids, in high school, in college. And we hope hell grow out of whatever asshole phase he seems to be in. But Miller never did. The way he condescended to Jim Acosta sounds like the snide, argumentative tone of a 12-year-old kid who thinks hes the smartest person in every room. Dukes former Vice President has said that Miller seemed to assume that if you were in disagreement with him, there was something malevolent or stupid about your thinkingincredibly intolerant.

What kind of person doesnt evolve their views after the age of 12? Well, the kind of person that would fit right in with the rest of Trumps cabinet, I suppose. Theres a fantastic profile in Vanity Fair with anecdotes from people who knew Miller at various points in his life. This past February, 3,500 Duke Alumni signed an open letter attempting to distance the schools reputation from his own. They called him, among other things, really icky and very creepy, especially in the way he would interact with female students.

A high school classmate, Silverman, had some of the most damning stories, saying that in class debates, Millers tactic would be to bullyhis opponent with unverifiable statistics and figures, baseless claims launched with his articulate bravado. He would just bludgeon you with evidence he pulled from thin air, gun-death numbers or immigration statistics that were usually false or gross exaggerations. And in 2002 no one had a smartphone to quickly verify it. It was mostly met with eye-rolls or an unwillingness to continue to debate someone who had a casual relationship with truth . . . . I know this may come off as melodramatic, but Stephens views are very DANGEROUS. Do not take these anecdotes or stories about him lightly. They sound like exaggerations and embellishments. They are not. He is an extremist. He has been radicalized.

That was him then, and he clearly hasnt changed at all since adolescence.

Take him seriously and know that he is a dangerous person, Silverman goes on. He has a dangerous mind and a dangerous way of thinking. He wants to shift what America is about . . . . Youve got to stay vigilant. Hes not taking days off. If theres one thing Miller is, and hes a lot of things, hes absolutely motivated. This is his entire life. This is everything for him. Hes not going to rest. He wont rest. He wont stop . . . . Hes not a Trump shill. He was this way before Trump, before Bannon. He was radicalized way before that.

Currently, those faculty members are still going through the hiring process, said Sherwin Johnson, communications specialist at Jackson Public Schools. I cannot release their names as they are not officially employed as of yet.

Students were also in the process of registering at press time, so Johnson could not give an accurate number that will attend Murrah.

The school has two major additions this year.

First is the opening of our k3 and k4 five-day program, led by new preschool director Cathy Miller, said Gary Herring, head of school. This addition created the need for extensive renovations at FPDS, as we added a preschool center with eight classrooms with all new furnishings and equipment that will house 100 students and 16 teachers and assistants, along with a brand-new playground outside specifically for this age group.

Secondly, the school has launched an academic immersion model for students participating in the dyslexia program. For technology, First Pres can take full advantage of their Idea Lab this year.

In the fall of 2015, our traditional computer lab was renovated and converted to an Idea Lab, meant to engage students in project-based learning, Herring said.

The biggest addition is the opening of the Athletics and Recreation Center (ARC), a state-of-the-art facility directly benefiting all students, said Lauren McMillin, director of alumni and public relations.

The new building will include a full-sized competition court and a full-size multi-purpose court, which provides the school with enough space to host basketball and volleyball tournaments.

The 65,000 square-foot ARC also includes team meeting rooms, classrooms and coaches offices.

Technology upgrades at St. Andrews include a new Web site, which provides a streamlined approach and easier accessibility for both students and parents, McMillin said.

For faculty and administration changes, Tim Alford is returning to the north campus to become head of the middle school, where he was formerly a middle school teacher. Marcia Poole will serve as the interim head of the lower school, where she was previously an early childhood teacher.

Johnny Nichols will be joining the athletic department as the head football coach. Meagan Denney is transitioning from her position as the upper school administrative assistant to the assistant director of athletics.

Madison-Ridgeland Academy, New Summit School and The Education Center were unavailable for comment at press time.
