It’s time for Democrats to get real – Times-Enterprise

Democrats just lost another election, this time in Montana. Unless they are willing to do some down-on-your-knees, cry-out-to-Jesus soul searching, the only way theyll win another election is if they collude with the Russians to steal one the way Donald Trump didnt.

Its going to take much more than an Olivia Pope-style scandal fixer to fix whats wrong with the Democratic Party. Putting a cowboy suit on an anti-gun, big government liberal like Rob Quist who regularly does gigs at a nudist resort in Idaho, was about as effective as putting lipstick on a pig.

It was also a naked attempt to blanket a semblance of normalcy over a Democrat Party that better represents the characters in the Star Wars cantina scene than those on Main Street or Your Street, U.S.A.

Thats why Greg Gianforte won Montanas special election, despite being charged with assaulting a journalist one day prior.

After reading reports and listening to the audio of the altercation, I thought Gianfortes response was kind of sexy. Before the snowflake generation evolved, thats how manly men resolved their differences. And still do, in places like Montana and Alaska, where men arent ostracized for being men. They duke it out, brush it off, shake hands and go on their way.

Republicans should be on guard that the leftist-controlled media are not there to get facts; they are there to get at them. Reporters who just happen to have a recorder turned on will do their darnedest to bait politicians into physical altercations. As tempting as it might be, theres no place in politics for body-slamming obnoxious metrosexual snowflake reporters, or any other kind for that matter.

Democrats and the left-leaning media had nothing to say when in 2004, Al Franken emerged from a crowd and body-slammed a guy who was trying to shout down then-Governor Howard Dean. Democrats promoted that clown to senator but are outraged at Gianforte.

Lets not forget that the violent political climate propagated by todays progressive-left is to blame for fostering a culture of violence. Violence, not manly wrestling matches.

The Democrat Party is overrun by violent far-left extremists who regularly display their antipathy to things they dislike using violence. Setting fires, throwing Molotov cocktails, smashing windows, throwing rocks at police, destroying private property, and physically attacking Republicans like what happened at Berkley in February was the norm long before Donald Trump arrived on the scene.

Normal Americans watching this appalling behavior have come to understand that just like terrorists, these left-wing anarchists the Democrat Party harbors cannot be reasoned with, so defeating Democrats at the ballot box is Americas only hope.

Despite the barrage of Trump-Russia nothing-burgers the media cooks up and dishes out daily, regular Americans believe what the Democrat Party stands for is far worse. Democrats are out of touch to believe that their globalist, gun-grabbing, anti-Christian, anti-free speech, anti-capitalism, Russian-boogiemen-around-every-corner, race-baiting platform of victimhood would win the hearts and minds of regular people.

Whats flabbergasting to Democrats is that Americas proverbial abused wife on the other side of the aisle has finally conjured up the courage to put her foot down and say, No more! Not in my house! No more to the lies no more to the abuse.

Shocking?

Only to those who refuse to take an honest look at themselves and the political party to which they associate.

OPINION: I’m a Democrat But We Must Consider This Story When We Think About Abortion – Fox News

By Bryan Dean Wright

Published June 02, 2017 | Fox News There are very few issues that divide this country as completely and emotionally as abortion. And for good reason. Ending the life of an unborn child should compel deep reflection and pause in all Americans.

Including those of us who support a womans right to choose.

Wherever we end up on the spectrum of abortions legality total ban, some exceptions, or unfettered access our belief is a deeply personal one thats often based on a religious teaching or life experience.

For me, it was both.

In college, I received a phone call from my grandmother. Gone was the voice of the normally cheery and engaging matriarch of the family. Instead, she was oddly hesitant. Then direct.

I have something to tell you.

I had always known that my grandmothers life was difficult. Her mother Ethel was a dancer in Minnesotas nightclubs in the 1920s and later in a traveling carnival. Though Ethel had her redeeming qualities, she was a troubled soul who battled a lifelong addiction to alcohol.

Top Democrat calls for hearing after Portland ‘domestic terrorist’ attack – The Hill

The top Democrat on the House Homeland Security Committee on Thursday called for the panel to respond legislatively to the recent fatal stabbing in Portland, Oregon. The incident was apparently motivated by anti-Muslim sentiment.

Rep. Bennie Thompson (Miss.), the Homeland Security Committees ranking Democrat, called the man who allegedly murdered two last Friday a "domestic terrorist."

He said that the committee has not paid enough attention to attacks like the one in Portland and others since the 2016 election, noting that the incidents are influenced by white nationalist overtones aimed at Muslims and Jewish organizations.

Two men were fatally stabbed last week when they tried to stop a man, Jeremy Christian, from yelling anti-Muslim slurs at two young women, one of whom was wearing a hijab.

A third man who tried to step in and was allegedly also stabbed by Christian survived, and the two women were physically unharmed.

"You call it terrorism. I call it patriotism," Christian said during his court appearance this week. Thompson noted the comment in a statement.

These types of terrorist acts can no longer be ignored by this Committee for the sake of those who do not want to acknowledge that all forms of terrorism, no matter the ideology or the inspiration, are a threat to our safety, rights, and our homeland, Thompson wrote in a letter to House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Michael McCaul (R-Texas).

Terrorist acts are carried out by individuals with various racial, religious, and political backgrounds, but they all have a common goal to use violence and intimidation to advance their beliefs, Thompson added. It is time for our committee to act.

A spokeswoman for McCaul didnt immediately return a request for comment.

The nearly 20 House Homeland Security Committee hearings held so far this year have mostly focused on issues like border security, cybersecurity threats and the Transportation Security Administration.

Thompson had previously asked McCaul in March to schedule a hearing on domestic threats to religious institutions and approve legislation to authorize $30 million in grants the Department of Homeland Security could provide to nonprofits considered at risk of terror threats.

Thompson said Thursday he still hadnt received a response to his March request.

The Real Lowdown: The Trump and Congressional Republican Assault on Our Environment, Vol. 13 – Natural Resources Defense Council

A day that will go down in history as the time America turned its back on the world, plus more climate denial and attacks on our health from the EPA.

Sipa USA via AP

Hes under pressure for any significant legislative successes this year, under investigation over ties to Russia and underwater, deep, in his poll standings.

So, what does President Trump do?

He says goodbye to American jobs, innovation, science, credibility, and our standing in the world. And sticks his fingers in the eyes of hundreds of major U.S. companies, mayors, elected officials, millions of Americans, and many countries that support worldwide efforts to rein in the dangers of climate change.

Trump did so from the sun-dappled White House Rose Garden on June 1 by announcing he is withdrawing the United States from the Paris climate agreement, the global accord approved by virtually the whole world to combat the dangers of climate change.

Trump suggested hes open to renegotiating a better deal. Maybe from the lawn of his Florida Mar-a-Lago home as the seas rise?

Its questionable that other countries, having been snubbed today, will help Trump recover tomorrow from the grave mistake hes made, said NRDC president Rhea Suh. Its on the rest of us now, she added, state and local officials, business leaders, citizens, educators, consumers, activists, and congressional members who grasp the stakes for our future: to keep the promise of Paris alive.

With Congress on break this past week, Trump and his team continued an assault on our health and environment with unreserved verve.

NRDC experts analyzed the impact of Trumps Paris Agreement withdrawal and found the reckless decision will undermine our international standing; transfer leadership on climate action to China and India; and put more than a million clean energy jobs at risk. More of their analysis will be posted here.

Despite the fact that 1,100 companies worth more than $3 trillion defended Paris for its economic benefits, Trump tried to justify his decision by serving up a platter of distortions and lies, which were immediately debunked by fact checkers at the Washington Post (Fact-Checking President Trumps Claims on the Paris Climate Change Deal) and the New York Times (Trump, Prioritizing Economy Over Climate, Cites Disputed Premises).

NRDC has also weighed in on Trumps use of a Chamber of Commercebacked study claiming the Paris deal would hurt the U.S. economy and jobs. NRDC analysts showed that study inflated costs, ignored benefits, and overlooked the enormous potential for energy efficiency and renewable power to thrive, creating jobs and reducing pollution.

Who was that man at the Rose Garden podium cheering Trump on for lacerating the Paris Agreement?

None other than Scott Pruitt, the head of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, key climate denier and polluter ally who reportedly had a big hand in running away from fighting the central environmental challenge of our time.

Perhaps thats expected because Pruittnow passing 100 days in officehas spent most of his time meeting with dirty energy interests, his Twitter postings reveal. His predecessor, Gina McCarthy, posted her daily schedule on the EPAs website, and it was full of meetings with a wide array of stakeholders, according to news reports.

Rather than try to reduce air pollution, the EPA has asked a court to reduce its burden to clean up the air. On May 30, the agency appealed a court order requiring it to complete overdue reviews of emissions from foundries and other industrial sources.

NRDC also announced it was going to courtagainst the EPA. On May 31, NRDC said it would seek to block the Trump administration from suspending standards curbing methane leaks from oil and gas operations. Methane puts thousands of Americans at risk of asthma and cancer and is a major contributor to climate change.

The Trump administration is giving its friends in the oil and gas industry a free pass to continue polluting our air, said David Doniger, head of NRDCs Climate & Clean Air program.

NRDC is challenging the 90-day stay Pruitt issued to halt Obama-era federal methane leak detection requirements set to go into effect June 3.

If you get rid of the words climate change, you make the problem go away. That seems to be the Trump administrations view as it continues scrubbing references to climate change from government websites. The Guardian posted a series of side-by-side images of pages under the Obama administration and changes made in what Doniger calls the Trumpocene.

Thats this weeks Real Lowdown. In this era in which our health and environment are under assault by Trump and congressional Republicans, NRDC has prepared a list of other far-ranging threats. And were vigilantly reporting on the administrations attack on the environment through Trump Watch.
