Social media philosophy:

How social media has changed how work is done: There was a lot of time spent trying to internally build alignment around the role of social media. Now its there. For the most part, its very clear that impacts the way companies go to market and communicate with customers. I believe it has created an expectation among consumers of being always on. Consumers tweet at a company and expect an immediate response.

An example of a successful campaign from a DraftKings social media account: Were really focused on highlighting iconic achievements in sports and introducing work quickly to support that. For example, when Albert Pujols hit his 600th home run, we produced these -- theyre essentially digital baseball cards -- achievement cards. We dropped them when he hit 600 and we actually invited users to share lineups. If they had him in their lineup, share that with us on Twitter and we produced custom cards with that users Twitter name on it, so its kind of a limited-edition card that only that consumer gets.

How DraftKings does social media differently: Companies tend to struggle because whats a unique point of view for a specific brand? But for a sports brand, there are so many things occurring daily in sports, so the focus is really on how do we not just jump on everything thats going on, but find stories that we can tell that are presented with a unique perspective. Our positioning is what we call Game Inside the Game. It is kind of our rallying cry.

Favorite and most frustrating part of social media: The most exciting part is that youre operating a newsroom. Youre trying to move at the speed of sports, react to really interesting things happening, and also take that, harness it and tell stories to your fans that gets them excited about the games. Its very creative and there are a lot of really great ideas. Being in technology, theres a lot of really interesting ways that we can do that going forward. Frustrating? I think that theres so many great ideas. The challenge is always how do we do fewer things well? Having focus on and testing a lot things and optimizing those that perform really well and scaling those.

Trends in social media moving forward: We have to understand how consumers are behaving and not simply focus on one or two social networks that are big right now. Some trends are this notion of story-based communications on social, whether it's Snapchat or Instagram stories. The notion of story as a format, as a medium of communications, is really important. A few years ago, people thought that all of our consumers wanted to just broadcast everything to their friends and put it out there. Thats not necessarily the case. People want a narrow path. They want to publish something to their friends, but they dont want it to necessarily live forever.

Former Tory communications director: Theresa May must do these six things to survive – iNews

Theresa May is skating on thin ice. More than ever, she needs to convey a sense of leadership and look and act like a Prime Minister. She may well be on borrowed time. In the short term she needs to radically rethink her media strategy, which was lacklustre at best during the election

These are the six things she needs to do to survive in the short term:

She is naturally media-shy, but needsto be on the airwaves moreto reassure the public and the party far more than she was before the election.

And we need to see her out doing more regional visits something she shunned before the election. This is crucial to remaining in touch with public sentiment andappearing in the regional media. Control events before they control you. The more she does, hopefully the better she will get at it.

Use them, and use a cross-section that reflect modern Britain on TV. She needs to demonstrate she is being collegiate. The more ministers she gets out, the more she can convey that she has the backing of the party. And their needs to be a good mix of Brexiters and Remainerswhich speak to the public.

She also needs young faces on broadcast outlets to reach out to an energised younger audience who Labour so effectively connected with. An absence of this will fuel a narrative of a government at drift and in chaos.

Its more important than ever to convey a sense of stability to the rest of the world, which will be wondering whats goingon here.

The questions around the world will be: Is the UK stable? Should I work there? Should I invest?

She needs to do more international media, and there must be a concerted briefing operation. Similarly, she needs to do a big foreign visit soon to show its business as usual and that we are still being taken seriously on the global stage.

She needs to convey a coalition of support from the business community and other interest groups. This was severely lacking during the election it was widely rumoured that her aides didnt like using them. Number 10 needs to secure the support of prominent third parties in the business sectorlike the CBI and BCC to be out and about in the media making the case for the UK as Brexit negotiations progress.

Let May be May? The more she talked, the less people liked her or listened during the election. This is the big headache. She needs to emotionally connect with the public and address her mistakes and with the party.

We saw the beginning of this on Monday night when she said to the party Ive got us into this mess, I will get us out of it. For her, this is the biggest ask and toughest challenge. She needs to connect with people but remain authentic. If she isnt, the public will see straight through her.

May needs to show that her premiership is not solely defined by Brexit. She needs a radical domestic agenda to convey a sense of momentum here and abroad. Governments often run out of ideas and energy. She needs to show she is fizzing with innovative policies.

Jury selection underway for murder of a Barksdale airman – KTAL

Benton, La. - Jury selection is underway for the murder case in Bossier involving the death of a Barksdale airman.

Nearly one-hundred people interviewed at the courthouse in Benton Tuesday for jury selection that will be narrowed down to twelve members.

Inside Judge Michael Craig's courtroom, groups of about 13 at a time would be asked questions by the prosecution and defense, who then would lay out details of the case.

Benjamin William Shaw is charged with second degree murder for the death of Zecharia Casagranda. The two got into a fight outside of Rockin' Rodeo nightclub in January 2016. Shaw stabbed Casagranda who later died from his injuries.

Shaw faces life in prison if found guilty. The defense will argue Shaw was acting in self-defense.

The defense is being lead by the well-known attorney, Jose Baez, who was the lead defense attorney in the Casey Anthony trail. He also represented Aaron Hernandez and was a part of the George Zimmerman trial.

More than a dozen witnesses could take the stand during this trail. The judge asked the potential jury members their availability for the next month, but said this case should be over within the next few weeks.

However an incident occurred inside the courtroom where a potential jury member started shouting at Baez about his reputation and work on previous cases so members were then separated and interviewed one-by-one. So the process did not conclude Tuesday and more potential jury members will be interviewed Wednesday.

John Ridley shares what inspired his ‘American Crime’ series – Daily News & Analysis

After being critically acclaimed for his show ?American Crime,' writer John Ridley has finally shared the incident that inspired his anthology series.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Oscar-winning screenwriter noted how the killing of Trayvon Martin inspired his racially charged ABC anthology series ?American Crime?.

While speaking at the Banff World Media Festival, Ridley said, ?One of the most painful conversations that I've had in recent years was with my son, who at that time was 14 and said, 'Dad, can you explain Trayvon Martin to me?' You can't really do it. And there's a lot of people who want that explanation that can't be done.?

Martin was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in 2012. The incident made national headlines when Zimmerman claimed he shot the unarmed teenager in self-defense and was acquitted on murder charges, sparking protests around the nation.

The ?12 Years a Slave? Oscar winner also shared that he wanted to make the show by focussing on the personal lives of players in a trial as events turned their worlds upside down and not by legalese.

He shared, ?We as people end up rooting sometimes not for justice, but for an outcome that reflects the things that we want from the community, not that this person is indicted or exonerated, but I want my justice. And if it comes through the courtroom, so be it. It really does become about bringing individuals in who can represent communities in ways that people haven't seen before.?

Ridley also praised Regina King for her portrayal of a ?strong Muslim-American woman,? which earned her two Emmys in subsequent years for her separate roles as Aliyah Shaded and Terri Lacroix.

Meanwhile, King said she liked that some 'American Crime' viewers saw her Muslim-American character as a radical and others as just devout.

"That's the most interesting thing about playing characters, about being an actor, is the layering, the dimensions,? she said.

ABC studios head Patrick Moran also recalled a creative fog hanging over the pilot development process that only cleared away with the first script reading involving the actors.

?As soon as we saw actors read the script and connect with the material, I think that was a moment for us where we realised there was something really special going on, that there was an intensity to the characters and a rawness to those scenes,? Ridley shared.

It should be noted that the anthology crime drama got cancelled in May after three seasons, with ABC opting not to order a fourth instalment.
