Trump Team Decries Censorship, Media Refuses ‘Fake News’ Ad – Newsmax

Associates connected to President Donald Trump lashed back at CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC's refusal to broadcast his recent ad as an assault on free speech and "an unprecedented act of censorship," according to the U.K.'s Independent.

"Apparently, the mainstream media are champions of the First Amendment only when it serves their own political views," Lara Trump, wife of President Trump's son Eric, said in a Trump campaign press release.

"Faced with an ad that doesn't fit their biased narrative, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC have now all chosen to block our ad. This is an unprecedented act of censorship in America that should concern every freedom-loving citizen."

CNN claimed its refusal of the "false" ad was based on the "Fake News" graphic covering the faces of news anchors Andrea Mitchell of NBC, Scott Pelley of CBS, George Stephanopoulos of ABC, Wolf Blitzer of CNN, and Rachel Maddow of MSNBC. CNN said it would air the ad if the "Fake News" graphic was removed.

ABC echoed CNN's position, according to the report.

"We rejected the ad because it did not meet our guidelines," an ABC spokesperson told the Independent. "We have previously accepted Trump ads and are open to doing so in the future."

The Trump campaign reportedly spent $1.5 million to air the ad.

Sinclair Broadcast to buy Tribune Media for $3.9 billion, giving it control over 215 local TV stations – Washington Post

Sinclair Broadcast Group said today it will pay$3.9 billion to buy Tribune Media Company and its 42local TV stations, beating out 21st Century Fox to land the deal.

Sinclair already has 173 local news stations. The combined operations of the two companies will create the largest-single group of local TV stations.

The deal calls for Sinclair to acquire 100 percent of Tribune Media for $43.50 a share. Sinclair also will assume about $2.7 billion in Tribune Media debt, according to the companies.

Tribune Media owns local TV stations across the country, including WGN in Chicago, WPIX in New York, KTLA in Los Angeles and WDCW in Washington. It also has minority stakes in Food Network and CareerBuilder.

Based in Hunt Valley, Md., north of Baltimore, Sinclair mostly owns stations in smaller markets, such as WUTV in Buffalo and WVTV in Milwaukee. One of its largest stations is WJLA in Washington.

This is a transformational acquisition for Sinclair that will open up a myriad of opportunities for the company, Chris Ripley, chief executiveof Sinclair, said in a news release.

Tribune Media said in a statement that it expects Federal Communications Commissions rules on ownership and antitrust regulations may result in Sinclair selling some stations.

Current FCC rules limit the national TV audience thatany single owner can reach at39 percent. Regulations also prohibit any owner from running more than two stations in most markets.

But FCC Chairman Ajit Pai who was elevated to his post by President Trump earlier this year has indicated in speeches that he wantsto loosen the TV ownership rules. Last month, Pais FCC reinstated a rule that helps station owners get around the national audience cap. The so-called UHF discount allows stations to count just 50percent of its audience from UHF stations toward the audience cap. Last fall, the FCC, under President Obama, revoked the UHF cap. Now, with its return last month, stations have more room to stay under the cap.

A week ago, Rupert Murdochs 21st Century Fox reportedly planned to join the bidding for Tribune.

With Sinclair beating out its much bigger rival, the company gains access to Tribunes larger metro markets.

This shows that Sinclair needs to be taken seriously as a media powerhouse, saidMatt Rizzetta, head of public relations firm North 6th Agency in New York.

Google and Facebook now control 20% of global adspend – Exchange4Media

Google and Facebook together accounted for 20% of the global advertising expenditure across all media in 2016, up from 11% in 2012, according to the new edition of Zeniths Top Thirty Global Media Owners, published on Monday. The two companies captured 64% of all the growth in global adspend between 2012 and 2016.

The Top Thirty Global Media Owners report is Zeniths unique ranking of the worlds largest media companies, and has been published since 2007. For this edition, the agency decided to update their methodology and focus purely on media owners revenues from advertising, excluding revenues from all other activities, to give a true measure of their status in the global advertising market.

Google (under its holding company Alphabet) is, by some distance, the largest media owner in the world, attracting USD 79.4 bn in ad revenue in 2016, three times more than the second-largest Facebook which attracted USD 26.9 bn. The largest traditional media owner is Comcast, which takes third place in the ranking, with USD 12.9 bn in ad revenue.

Zenith had stated in their quarterly Advertising Expenditure Forecasts that internet advertising has overtaken television to become the worlds largest advertising medium this year. Accordingly, digital platforms that are funded by internet advertising dominate their top 30 ranking. As well as Alphabet and Facebook, there are five more pure-internet media owners in the top 30: Baidu, Microsoft, Yahoo, Verizon and Twitter. Between them, the seven digital platforms generated USD 132.8 bn in internet ad revenue in 2016 that is 73% of all internet adspend, and 24% of global adspend across all media.

Verizon became a media owner in 2015 when it bought AOL, and if all goes to plan, will become a much larger one when it acquires Yahoo later this year. Verizon takes 21st place in the current ranking; adding Yahoo to AOL would boost it to sixth.

The fastest-growing media owner on the list is Twitter, which increased its ad revenues by 734% between 2012 and 2016. Tencent is second, having grown by 697% over this period, and Facebook is third, with 528% growth. Two other media owners have more than doubled in size between 2012 and 2016: Baidu, which grew 190%, and Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which grew 171%.

Most of the media owners on the Zenith ranking 20 out of 30 are based in the US. The US dominates for several reasons, they explain: the US has the biggest ad market, US companies have invested the most in extending their reach abroad, and Silicon Valley innovation has powered the growth of internet advertising. China and Germany each have three media owners in the ranking (Baidu, Tencent and CCTV for China, and Bertelsmann, ProSiebenSat.1 and Axel Springer for Germany). Then there are four countries with one media owner each: France (JCDecaux), Brazil (Grupo Globo), Italy (Mediaset) and the UK (ITV).

The scale of the biggest platforms highlights the importance of building strong partnerships between agencies and media owners, said Vittorio Bonori, Zeniths Global Brand President. Brands need to deal with these platforms to communicate with consumers effectively and efficiently, and agencies need to ensure they do so on the best terms available.

Zeniths new ranking demonstrates just how much the internet advertising platforms are setting the pace for global adspend growth, said Jonathan Barnard, Head of Forecasting at Zenith. Google and Facebook alone have accounted for almost two thirds of global adspend growth since 2012, he added.

Casey Anthony, George Zimmerman seal their arrest records for … – Orlando Sentinel

Innocent? Seal that arrest record

I can't agree with the Sentinels Tuesday editorial, "Don't scrub arrest record, guilty or not." Even the title seems wrong, because what editors are really advocating is to retain arrest records "innocent or not." It doesn't matter whether the premise behind this bill is that anyone arrested and charged but not convicted was wrongly accused. Presumably, anyone charged but not convicted is innocent that is what "presumption of innocence" means, after all.

Failure to convict for whatever reason means the state didn't prove its case. If innocence, indeed, is presumed, then why should people who are arrested but not convicted have to have an arrest record and mug shot hanging around their necks for the rest of their lives? Don't such people have a right to privacy?

A prospective landlord or employer could decide on the basis of an arrest record alone not to rent to or employ that person.

So what that records for Casey Anthony and George Zimmerman would be automatically sealed? The millions of words the media have written and broadcast about them are public record enough to keep the citizens of Florida informed.

I understand the Sentinels concern about keeping public records open, and I almost always would agree with the editors but not in this case. I think the right to privacy should prevail over the public's right to know when a person has been arrested but subsequently found not guilty or had the charges dismissed.

The Republicans were right to celebrate their House victory repealing Obamacare in the Rose Garden with President Trump and champagne all around: The majority of them have admitted that they have not really read the bill; they have neither data nor facts on the true cost in economic and humane terms; they don't know what the Senate bill will look like; and none of it applies to them or their staffs.

This could be their only opportunity to congratulate themselves. Those up for midterm re-election could find crying in their beer not nearly as satisfying.

Regarding Randolph Bracy Jr.s guest column, Mary McLeod Bethune worthy of D.C. pedestal, on Tuesday: There is no doubt that Mary Bethune was a great person and distinguished for her accomplishments.

However, I was perplexed when Bracy stated, Put Bethune in the statuary in Washington now, and stop fighting the Civil War over again.

Everywhere monuments, flags, school names and anything pertaining to the Civil War and our history have come under fire and been removed in the name of political correctness. Whether it is removing a Confederate statue or changing the name of Robert E. Lee Middle School, our history is disappearing. Now its Gen. Edmund Kirby Smiths turn to go away. So who keeps fighting the Civil War over again?

Smith was a native Floridian. Bethune was almost 28 years old before she stepped foot in Florida. He was dead by the time she arrived. Smith was a well-decorated war general, including the Mexican War and the fight against the Indians. He later taught at his alma mater West Point. Somebody in 1922 decided he was well worth a statue. And now almost 100 years later, somebody else is second guessing that?

It is impossible to compare one generation/time in life to another. So it is also impossible to compare Smith to Bethune. Instead of this P.C. replacement mentality, how about agreeing to add a statue?

Nobody today would condone what happened during Civil War times. Why cant we as a society get over it and move on?

Florida Memorial University is planning to award Trayvon Martin a posthumous bachelor of science degree in aviation during its commencement ceremonies this Saturday.

Didnt think of Trayvon as the scholarly type, did you?

Since his death in 2012, Martin, the 17-year-old thug who was fatally shot during a fight with George Zimmerman, has been made into a martyr.

According to Sybrina Fulton, Trayvons mother, Trayvon wanted to be a pilot or an airplane mechanic. But he was far from a model student. According to reports, Trayvon had been suspended twice that school year before his death for offenses that should have gotten him arrested once for getting caught with a burglary tool and a dozen items of female jewelry, the second time for being found with marijuana.

In 2010, Chief Charles Hurley of the Miami-Dade School Police Department implemented a policy that lowered the number of criminal reports, altering statistics to create the impression that crime was dropping within the school system. Crimes were being reported as disciplinary infractions. If Chief Hurley and the Miami-Dade School District had done their jobs, Trayvon may have gotten the wake-up call needed to change his life.

As I write in The Antidote, Trayvons parents failed him. Stable, married parents are the foundation for life, but Trayvons mother and father abandoned him. The only real mother he knew was his stepmother, Alicia Stanley, with whom he lived for eight years. That was taken from him when his father, Tracey Martin, started seeing another woman, Brandi Green, and gave up full guardianship to the biological mother, Sybrina Fulton.

Trayvon was stripped of the only family and mother he knew. As a result, he grew angry, used drugs and turned into a thug. It was his own anger not racism that caused his death.

Trayvon was in Sanford, Florida, visiting his fathers girlfriend at her home in the townhouse community where Zimmerman was in charge of the neighborhood watch.

Trayvon was from Miami Gardens a crime-ridden city located in north-central Miami-Dade County. The city violent crime rate for Miami Gardens in 2012 was higher than the national violent crime rate average by 116.45 percent.

Trayvons biological parents, along with phony black leaders and the mainstream media, have been complicit in falsifying the narrative about Trayvon.

OrderRev. Jesse Lee Petersons book, The Antidote: Healing America from the Poison of Hate, Blame, and Victimhood.

Patrisse Cullors, whom I interviewed on my radio show (she ran from me), is a radical black lesbian and an organizer in Black Lives Matter. She and others created the BlackLivesMatter hashtag soon after Martins death. Since then, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Barack Obama and other human leeches have used Trayvon as the poster child for false racism.

Trayvons failing parents especially his mother are using his name to gain fame and money. They now have the Trayvon Martin Foundation. According to the website, its a social justice organization committed to ending senseless gun violence, strengthening families through holistic support Whatever that means.

Fulton has been traveling and giving speeches, and she has been acting as though she was a model parent. She campaigned with Hillary Clinton in 2016, and she was recognized at the Democratic National Convention along with other Mothers of the Movement (aka Dirty Mothers of the Movement).

So how much has the Trayvon Martin Foundation raised, and where does the money go? No one seems to know.

What we do know is that Trayvons parents settled a wrongful-death claim against the homeowners association in the gated community where he was killed. The final settlement is believed to be more than $1 million.

Within three days of Trayvon Martins death, his family hired a media-consulting firm. Within two weeks of Trayvons death, his mother filed legal documents to trademark his name. Soon after, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton set out on a cross-country tour and even went to Europe to collect money. While Sybrina Fulton already had a $68,768 salary with the Miami-Dade County government, she also received an eight-month paid vacation worth $40,825.

Rapper Jay Z and the Weinstein Company are partnering on a series of film and television projects about Trayvon. The projects are reportedly based on two books Suspicion Nation: The Inside Story of the Trayvon Martin Injustice and Why We Continue to Repeat It by attorney Lisa Bloom (daughter of Gloria Allred) and Rest in Power: The Enduring Life of Trayvon Martin by Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin. Hows that for objectivity?!

If Trayvons parents were honest, they would admit they failed him, but theyre not, so theyre pushing a lie and exploiting their dead son.

We know Trayvon is being given a silly posthumous degree to continue falsifying his life story. Just like the gentle giant Mike Brown and others. Their stories are altered to make them appear as victims who were unjustly cut down. Making them look better than they were also absolves the rotten parents of their failing.

What message is being sent out to society, and to young black men? Like suicide bombers, young black men are made to think theres heroism in their lives when many have been nothing but a menace to society.

Rampant immorality caused primarily by the breakdown of the black family is ultimately to blame for black anger and violence. Canonizing thugs and excusing bad black parents only perpetuates the problem.
