I hope the Supreme Court grants the Peruta cert petition but that is unlikely to happen. The reasons why the cert petition will likely be denied are many and most of the reasons have been addressed in my earlier articles.

This Monday morning we will know whether or not the Peruta concealed carry cert petition is granted, denied or postponed.

Yesterday (Thursday May 18th) was the third time the Peruta cert petition was considered by the justices in private conference. Most cert petitions do not even make it to their first conference, and nearly 99 percent of cert petitions are summarily denied without ever having been considered by the justices.

The always impressive website SCOTUSblog.com analyzes the probability of cert petitions being granted. The Peruta cert petition was relisted from its first conference which is rare and, for these past few years, almost always the case for cert petitions which are granted.

But the Peruta cert petition was relisted to a second and then a third conference of justices. If the Peruta cert petition is neither denied nor granted Monday morning but is instead relisted for another conference then the probability of the cert petition being granted drops from 93.4% to 6.6%.

So far this term, no cert petition has survived its fourth relist.

The US Supreme Court will release its Orders list at 6:30 AM Pacific Time. The folks at SCOTUSblog have one or more people inside the Supreme Court who live-blog the petitions as they are granted as well as live blogging the opinions of the court as they are released.

Although it is likely that the Peruta cert petition will be denied, the justices may decide to hold off until the Norman v. State of Florida Open Carry cert petition is filed.

And who knows, in the unlikely event that I win my appeal against Californias Open Carry bans before a decision is made to grant or deny the Peruta cert petition, my win would moot the Peruta appeal to SCOTUS.

The European Commission announced there would be a formal investigation, saying that members of a so far unnamed organisation may have sexually exploiting migrants they worked with in Greece.

The Commission has also confirmed it will be investigating the organisation on charges of corruption and has suspended all its EU funding,Salzburger Nachrichten reports.

The EU commission has said the priority will be first taking care of the victims of the alleged abuse. The Greek government has also been informed of the situation. The EUs anti-fraud agency Olaf will also be involved in the investigation against the pro-migrant organisation.

Officials from the bloc stated it has a zero tolerance policy regarding any organisation that either misuses EU funds or violates basicfundamental human rights.

So far, the EU has yet to make a formal statement on the multiple arrests of members of the Italian mafia who were profiteering on the back of the migrant crisis. Despite no formal statement, a spokesman for the Commission has said there will be an investigation to check whether or not EU funds were also involved in the case.

Italian authorities arrested 68 individuals including a Catholic priest and charity organisers thought to have made millions of euros through fraud.

If the organisation in Greece turns out to have sexually exploited migrants, it will not be the first time pro-migrant activists have been sexually involved with the people they claim to be helping.

Before its destruction, the Calais Jungle migrant camp was reportedly rife with sexual exploitation. Open borders advocates, primarily from the UK, travelled to the camp to have sex with migrant men squatting there, according to a reportfrom September of last year.

That same month a woman from Briton, who volunteered at the Calais Jungle, announced that she was marrying a Syrian man she met in the camp though denied she had initially gone to the camp tofind a man.

The EU has also been critical of pro-migrant NGOs operating in the Mediterranean sea with the EU border agency Frontex saying NGOs encourage more migrants to make the perilous voyage.

An Italian prosecutor has been even more direct accusing the NGOs ofworking with people smugglers to bring more migrants to Europe.

Author and Brexiteer Douglas Murray gave an explosive interview with Julia Hartley-Brewer this morning, suggesting the EU's migrant crisis can be traced back to German guilt about the Holocaust.

Murray spoke to Julia about his new bookThe Strange Death of Europe: Immigration, Identity, Islam,and gave some forthright opinions on what he described as the "devastating" migrant crisis.

Murray, who publicly supported Brexit ahead of last year's referendum, saidEurope has become "a place for the world... but with no particular belief in itself."

He believes Germany is largely responsible for this problem, because the country has spread its post-Nazi guilt to the rest of the EU.

Murray told Julia: "In a city like this one, inLondon, if you say 'look at our guilt, look at what we did,' you almost immediately get to the gas chambers of Auschwitz.

"This country fought against [Nazism] and destroyed that regime. But there's been a spreading around of German guilt and an absolving of the rest of the world of any blame."

Merkel, he says,was "willing to crash the entire continent for the sake of her own conscience" and suggested many migrants have no right to settle in the EU.

DENVER (CBS4) Colorado taxpayers paid more than $522 million to imprison illegal immigrants convicted of crimes over the past 20 years, according to a CBS4 investigation.

The figure, which exceeds a half billion dollars, is drawn from a Colorado Department of Corrections analysis of its State Criminal Alien Assistance Program (SCAAP) applications, a federal grant program designed to offset some costs of incarcerating people in the country illegally. To receive SCAAP funding, state prisons and county jails provide the Department of Justice with a list of names of illegal immigrants and the number of days each served behind bars.

One of the names listed on the CDOCs latest SCAAP application was Nora Vera Nolasco, a Mexican national, arrested in 2011 for the Denver hit-and-run crash that killed 21-year-old Jose Medina, a valet car attendant. Four days after the crash, Vera Nolasco was arrested as she sat on a plane in Phoenix, about to take off for her home country.

She had no business in the United States of America, said Medinas mother Linda Limon. People like that they dont belong here at all.

In fiscal year 2015, Vera Nolasco was one of 1,992 illegal immigrants in the Colorado prison system, costing taxpayers $59.7 million, where illegal immigrants made up 7.8 percent of Colorados prison population.

The City of Denver listed 828 names on its 2016 SCAAP report, or 7.6% of its jail population, costing taxpayers $3.9 million. Adams County listed 490 names, or 13.3% of its jail population, costing taxpayers $5.3 (after calculating the cost of incarceration at a higher rate). Weld County listed 311 names, or 8.8% of its jail population, costing taxpayers $2 million. Arapahoe County listed 223 names, or 4.5% of its jail population, costing taxpayers $1.4 million. Jefferson County listed 100 names, or 3.1% of its jail population, costing taxpayers $1 million.

Warsame Karshe, an illegal immigrant from Ethiopia, was on Weld Countys SCAAP application. According to police reports Karshe said, You got the wrong guy, Im going to be deported, minutes after Greeley police arrested him for assaulting Robert Dunn, 79, and stealing Dunns car.

He walloped me alongside the ear and down I went, recalled Dunn of his 2014 run-in with Karshe.

As it turns out, Karshe had been released from jail just two days before he encountered Dunn. Hes now serving six years in the Colorado Department of Corrections, costing taxpayers an estimated $100 per day.

I think America is welcoming and we try to do our best to help people who come over here but we just dont need those kind of people, said Dunn who said he feels victimized again by paying taxes to keep his assailant in prison. Send him back right away, why should I feed the guy for six years?

Through the SCAAP program, the federal government is reimbursing Colorado roughly 4 percent of the cost of incarcerating people like Karshe and Vera Nolasco.

Republican State Sen. Kent Lambert says that leaves a massive burden for Colorado taxpayers.

When we say immigration is only a federal problem, its not, said Sen. Lambert. We dont want people to forget that a lot of the impacts are also on the states because the federal government is not reimbursing us for the cost of this incarceration.

Jailing illegal immigrants who commit crimes may soon get more expensive. The Trump Administration is proposing doing away altogether with those SCAAP reimbursements, completely shifting the entire cost to state and local taxpayers.

Spokeswoman Emily Tucker with the Center for Popular Democracy (CPD), which is based in New York and made up of failed chapters of the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN), told the Wichita Eagle that cities giving out IDs to illegal immigrants must throw out all the data they have on those individuals:

At the local level, about 15 cities have created municipal IDs as a way to make life easier for undocumented immigrants, Tucker said. If youre a citizen, you dont think about what a privilege it is to have an ID or how often you need it.

Documents that cities require to prove identity and residency under the programs include birth certificates, foreign identification documents, passports or utility bills. Under most programs, cities are prohibited from copying or retaining documents. City officials must simply review them and give them back, Tucker said.

New York Citys was one of just a few city programs under which documents were retained. Under a December rule change, the New York program will no longer do so.

As other cities consider creating programs, Tucker suggests that they follow the same practice. And applications should only ask for the information needed to administer the program, Tucker said. ICE cant get data that you dont keep.

CPD also wants U.S. citizens to get on the rolls of these state and city-wide ID cards, saying localities should offer public benefits to anyone wanting an ID in order to incentivize its use. This way, according to Tucker, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will have a much harder time locating illegal immigrants.

Soros has showered CPD with funds recently. In 2016, Soros Open Society Foundation gave CPD a $705,000 in grants to support efforts challenging anti-Muslim sentiment and support advocacy on access to economic opportunity.

Soros is also helping fund illegal immigrants attorneys, specifically in Baltimore, Maryland, putting up $100,000 to aid illegal immigrants in evading deportation, Breitbart Texas reported.
