Daily Kos Elections recently completedcalculating the 2016 presidential election results by congressional district.With ticket-splitting rates at historic lows, and presidential resultshighly correlated with congressional results, these numbers serve as a strong predictor of future House election outcomes. Consequently, as Democrats look to gain the 24 seats necessary to obtain a House majority, the 23 Republican-held congressional districts that voted for Hillary Clinton are a logical place to start.

As shown on the map above (see here for a larger version), most of these districts are located in upscale suburbs, particularly inSun Belt states like California and Texas. Several of these seats have substantial Latino populations, while most also have many highly educated white voters who long leaned Republican before they revolted against Donald Trump. White voters have strongly polarized by education level in recent elections, with those holding a college degree increasingly voting Democratic at much higher rates than those who lack a four-year degree. If that trend persists, Trump could remain very unpopular in these suburban districts, giving Democrats an opening downballot.

But while this is a good initial target list, congressional Republicanssignificantly outran Trumps performance in these districts. Whats more, 15 of these 23 seats had previously voted for Mitt Romney in 2012, indicating that voters in many of them were comfortable with Republicans who were more mainstream than Trump. And just three of these Republicans won by less than 5 percent in 2016, while only another four prevailed by less than 10 percent. However, given the declining rate of split-ticket outcomes nationally, many of these incumbents could simply be on borrowed time.

Applause! Hillary Clinton was just one of the millions to watch Lady Gaga rock out during the Super Bowl halftime show on Sunday, February 5.

The "Edge of Glory" singer, 30, made subtle political statements during her 13-minute performance. She sang a few lyrics from Woody Guthrie's "This Land Is Your Land" and went on to belt out her LGBTQ anthem "Born This Way."

The former secretary of state, 69, reposted an Us Weekly tweet that read, "This land was made for you and me" before adding her two cents. "I'm one of 100 million #SuperBowl fans that just went #Gaga for the Lady," Clinton tweeted. "& her message to all of us."

Hours before taking the stage, the American Horror Story actress thanked her fans for their support via Instagram. "I want to say thank you to my fans for cheering me on all these years. There will not be any guest performers tonight, I'm doing these 13 minutes solo! I dedicate every second to the love, diversity, compassion, and wild spirit of our fan base," she wrote. "To that kid who felt unwanted, or the grown up who remembers how hard it was to find acceptance. This is for you. It is also for those whose hearts and minds have opened to our message. Thank you for believing in us so we could be here today little monsters this is YOUR stage. And I'm gonna leave my heart on it so you never forget it. Let's do this. Xoxo Love, Gaga p.s I LOVE YOU SO MUCH."

Last month, Clinton, the first-ever female presidential nominee for a major political party, also took to Twitter to commend those who participated in the Women's March on Washington in response to her election rival Donald Trump's presidency.

"Thanks for standing, speaking & marching for our values @womensmarch. Important as ever. I truly believe we're always Stronger Together," she wrote on January 21. "Scrolling through images of the #womensmarch is awe-inspiring. Hope it brought joy to others as it did to me."

If youre a Trump supporter, you might see the Patriots stunning come-from-behind Superbowl victory as a miracle of hard work and perserverance. If youre a Hillary supporter you might see it as the Falcons simply choking hard in the last quarterof the game.

Such are the days where everything, even the Superbowl, is bogged down in tedious political commentary, especially as Trump is close friends with the Patriots top brass.

As Falcons are the biggest chokers of 2017, they are unsurprisingly being compared to the biggest choker of 2016, Hillary Clinton. In both cases prognosticators gave themchances of winning north of 90 percent, which they completely blew in their own hubris.

Now people on the internet are firing up photoshop to make the connection stick.

Some on Reddit are already blaming the Falcons defeat, not on the fact they could barelyscore points in the second half, but on the Russians, of course. Jill Stein needs to step in and demand a score recount.

Even many prominent liberals were acting the same smug way they did on election night until they started melting down and covering their tracks.

So like everything in American life right now, the Superbowl isa direct analogy of presidential politics. And like after the real election its another win for Trump.

Senators who supportBetsy DeVos foreducation secretary are supporting the resegregation of schools, according to Felicia Wong, a Clinton ally and president of the Roosevelt Institute.

As noted by Politico, the Roosevelt Institute a liberal nonprofit was hunting for hundreds of candidates to fill government roles in a Clinton administration and Wong was in direct contact with members of the transition team and Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta back when Clinton was expected to win the presidency.

Now, Wong is leading the charge against DeVos, Trumps nominee for education secretary. In a column for CNN on Monday Wong argued that DeVoss support for school choice which proponents argue helps minority students by allowing them to attend otherwise unaffordable private schools is akin to supporting resegregation of schools.

Wong claims that so much of the current movement in favor of school choice and religious education carries the stain of racial animosity, even in dog-whistle form. School choice, she claims is about the kind of freedom associated with the flight away from integration and toward racial isolation. According to Wong, DeVoss support for school choice means shewould be a Secretary of Education associated with a more exclusive and racially exclusionary vision.

Wongs article leaves out the fact that Hillary Clinton used to support charter schools. The Wall Street Journal editorial board argued last July that Clintons flip-flop on charter schools wasapolitical forfeit to powerful teachers unions.

We remember when Mrs. Clinton wasnt so easily intimidated by unions, the WSJ charged.

Bill Clintons grant program took the movement from a few schools to thousands. In Mrs. Clintons 1996 memoir, It Takes a Village, she wrote that she favored promoting choice among public schools, much as the Presidents Charter Schools Initiative encourages. And heres Mrs. Clinton in 1998: The President believes, as I do, that charter schools are a way of bringing teachers and parents and communities together.'

The WSJ editors noted that Mrs. Clintons switcheroo follows the pro-union turn of the Democratic Party platform. This years original draft was at least mildly pro-reform, but the final version opposes using test scores to evaluate teachers, encourages parents to opt out of testing for their kids, and endorses multiple restrictions on charters that would make them much less effective.

They concluded: In this election year of bad policy choices, the Democratic retreat from school choice and accountability is the most dispiriting.
