Two Day Insurance Marketing Event Slated for April

STAFFORD SPRINGS, CT (PRWEB) February 17, 2015

Digital marketing consultancy Paradiso Presents will host a seminar for independent agents and brokers interested in generating revenue with social media. The event will take place at Travelers Claim University, 99 Lamberton Road, Windsor, Conn., April 9 and 10, 2015.

The seminar will feature two full days of interactive and informative discussions on branding, website development, blogging, social channel mastery, mobile marketing and mobile apps, search engine optimization and more.

By building and implementing a social marketing strategy several years ago, Ive been able to make use of modern marketing techniques to double our agency revenue in just five years, says Chris Paradiso, owner of Paradiso Financial & Insurance Services in Stafford Springs, Conn., which received the National Association of Professional Insurance Agents 2013 Excellence in Social Media Award.

Along our journey, weve learned a lot about what works in the insurance business and what doesnt, he adds. This workshop allows me to share my insights and experience with independent agents and brokers who want to develop and execute a revenue-generating social media strategy of their own.

In addition to Paradiso, presenters at the two-day event include Kelly Donahue-Piro, owner Agency Performance Partners, who will address digital process and procedures and sales; Eddy DeMelo, a partner with Donahue-Piro in the start-up consultancy Agency Appeal, who will share insight on search engine optimization; and Matt Aaron, owner of GoInsuranceAgent.com, who will discuss mobile marketing and the importance of agency mobile apps.

Weve been able to put together a strong roster of presenters who are at the forefront of insurance agency social marketing, Paradiso explains. They have been valuable resources to our agency as weve built our social capacity. Each is a skilled and engaging presenter who brings deep knowledge and insight to the table.

Donahue-Piro adds, Ive taken part in previous Paradiso Presents workshops and found them to be engaging, spirited and fun. Best of all, participants walk away from the events with a number of actions they can implement right away, as soon as they return to their agencies.

Registration cost is $250, which covers event costs. Any remaining funds will be donated to Journey Found, a non-profit organization that provides housing and support to adults with developmental disorders and intellectual disabilities and helps these individuals achieve all available opportunities that contribute to personal growth.

Local SEO For Franchises Means Teamwork

SEO is commonly viewed as one of the most challenging marketing activities to orchestrate across a national-to-local network. In addition to trying to figure out how to win at SEO in general, franchise businesses also often face the unique dilemma of needing multiple sites from the same domain to rank well in a search results.

Localization no doubt comes to mind immediately as the solution to this problem. While this is the ultimate route to success, some very specific considerations must be factored in for a local SEO campaign for franchises to be properly executed.

Certainly the primary website should be the first area to focus on. Duplicate content is, of course, the big no-no here. One way that franchisors can avoid this is to offer their franchisees multiple versions of the basic website.

Each version can include not only slightly different copy but also varied images. Its important to remember that content is not synonymous with copy.

Gone are the days when localization meant simply changing out the city and state in the body copy or a headline and keeping all other content as is. For starters, localization today should focus not just on a city or geographical region but a neighborhood or smaller locale. The pendulum is shifting back to the more personal and more local.

All localized sites and landing pages, even if they share a domain, should find ways to create H1s, H2s and URLs unique to their specific business location. In addition, the inclusion of name, address and phone number (NAP) information and store hours provides immediate differentiators.

On those landing pages, social sharing buttons should be prominently placed with links to the social accounts for the specific location.

Despite the oft-cited claim that Pigeon was created to help small businesses, the truth is that its focus is on local businesses, which are not always small. An individual franchise operation may be a small business, but the larger franchisor company is quite often a rather influential national brand. Therefore, Pigeon most definitely applies to franchise operations.

A growing number of mobile users search for local businesses every day. Franchise businesses, like any other businesses, need to ensure that their websites are set up to appropriately capture this audience.

3 Keys To Gaining Company-Wide SEO Support

Whether you work at an online marketing agency or run an in-house SEO department, youve likely encountered the dreaded work wall. That wall may have been a lack of resources or budget, or it may have involved that one person or department who just wasnt interested in helping you get done what you needed to get done.

Its a common scenario. We are all trying to do our jobs, and when someone elses job interferes with ours, we may be hesitant to help out. The challenge for SEOs is we rely on these other departments to help us be successful.

In fact, as Erin Everhart pointed out in a recent post here on Search Engine Land, as SEOs, one of our responsibilities now is educating other teams on how to integrate SEO into their own departments, so we are not constantly working to get other people involved.

So, how do we break down the walls and get our cross-department counterparts to do just that? There is no one answer, but by using the three tactics outlined below, you will certainly have a better chance.

If you search how to speak to colleagues you will be met with all sorts of advice some good, some bad, and some that is just plain common sense. But what most of them will tell you is that no one, regardless of their position or department, appreciates being talked down to. Even more so, no one appreciates someone else telling them how to do their job.

When working with other departments and specifically other team members, its important to understand what their current level of SEO knowledge is.

For example, when we sign a new client, we always start with a discovery call that looks at all elements of the business, including technical capabilities. We want to understand the processes for change, the site structure, and what the IT team currently knows about SEO.

That way, when we are reviewing the technical audit with the team or discussing site changes, we know exactly how much or how little we need to explain. We avoid insulting anyones intelligenceand (in most cases) save ourselves time and work by creating the right messaging and instructions the first time.

Identifying how much a person knows can be tricky but by asking the right questions and talking to people in the know, you can get a pretty good idea.
