APC accuses Omisore of plotting against Aregbesolas rally

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress have accused the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State, Senator Iyiola Omisore, of plotting to assassinate some notable leaders of the ruling party in Ile Ife.

They said the plot was to abort the commencement of the Governor Rauf Aregbesola reelection campaign holding in the town on Tuesday.

The APC leaders in Ife Zone, led by a lawmaker, Mr. Folorunsho Bamisaye, said this at a press conference on Sunday.

Bamisaye, who is the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Education, said that the party had notified the police about the plan.

He commended the police and other security agencies for working round the clock to ensure that violence was not allowed to abort the campaign.

The lawmaker said that Aregbesola would start his campaign at Ile Ife.

Bamisaye said, The PDP held a rally in Ife last week, and after the rally, they met at a hotel where they concluded the arrangement to begin to kill leaders of the APC starting from tonight (Sunday night).

We have reported this to the police.

Bamisaye stated that Aregbesola would win convincingly because he had done very well for the people of the state. He said the governor had constructed 15 roads in Ile Ife, and about 40 roads in other local government areas in Ife.

But the media aide to the PDP governorship candidate, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, said the allegation was evidence that the APC was becoming jittery.

Liberals promise $1B for Ring of Fire as part of election platform

Ontarios Liberals are promising to go ahead and spend $1 billion to build a transportation route to the Ring of Fire mineral deposit, with or without financial help from the federal Conservatives.

But they havent decided where or when theyll start building it, or how theyll find another billion to complete the route in a remote region of northern Ontario if Ottawa wont provide the funds.

They say those decisions will be up to a development corporation that theyll create within 60 days of taking office that will include both levels of government, First Nations and private companies.

The Liberals are also promising to build more hospices, cap hospital parking fees and help high-school students plan their path to a desired career if theyre re-elected on June 12.

Officials say the platform essentially fleshes out more details of their failed May 1 budget that theyd planned to announce as they took the document on the road, and are fully costed.

It includes some common ground with their rivals, who triggered the election when they said they couldnt support the budget.

The Liberals say theyd improve students math scores and physical activity, as well as increase apprenticeship spaces, which the Progressive Conservatives have also proposed.

Theyre also promising to reduce wait times in five areas by more than 50 per cent and are guaranteeing that every resident has access to a primary care provider, such as doctor or nurse-practioners.

The New Democrats have also said theyll reduce wait times and create more access to health-care services if theyre elected.
