At least half of your time at Ibiza has to be spent exploring the secretive coves and other wonders of the island. If you wish, you could take a ferry to mainland Spain, which operate frequently from Ibiza's main town; a two hour sail will lead you to the cities of Barcelona, Valencia and Benidorm.

Take the time to explore the island's two main towns, both of which are coastal and boast a magnificent promenade, where luxurious restaurants fuse with affordable little eateries to offer you everything from cheaper menus, tapas and pizzerias to the crme-de-la-crme. While in Ibiza, you have to try the local flaons, a sweet pastry delight typical to the island the best way to finish off a traditional meal.

The Balearic Islands are home to some of the top holidays resorts in Spain with a fantastic array of accommodation on offer from budget hostels to some of the finest luxury Hotels in the whole of Spain. Britain has been enjoying the beautiful weather this weekend [WNS & GUY HARROP & BNPS]

Some parts of the country were predicted to enjoy temperatures as high as 77F (25C), hotter even than Ibiza.

Beaches across Britain were packed as thousands flocked to make the most of the summery weather.

At Bournemouth in Dorset, families filled the beach's seven miles of sand while traffic queued for five miles along the A31 to reach the coast.

Jane Taylor, 40, who was enjoying the sunshine, said: "With weather like this it feels like summer is here.

"The skies are bright blue and there's not a cloud in sight - why would you want to be anywhere else in the world?"
