Colin Firth is joining Reese Witherspoon in Atom Egoyan's drama based on the real-life case of the West Memphis Three, "Devil's Knot."

Deadline has the news, and reports that the story centers on Damien Echols, Jason Baldwin and Jessie Misskelley, Jr. who were convicted of the murder of three 8-year-old boys. The case was sensationalized with reports of devil worship and ritualized sacrifice, despite lack of physical evidence. Witherspoon will play a mother of one of the murdered boys, while Firth will take on the role of the heroic investigator who helped the Memphis Three when no one else would, uncovering important evidence for their defense.

Cubicles Are Terrifying and "Not Safe for Work"
"Wolfman" director Joe Johnston will be heading up the horror realm once more with a thriller set … in an office building. The "Captain America" filmmaker is taking on "Not Safe for Work" — about a young paralegal that becomes trapped in her office, desperately trying to evade a killer who has set out to destroy company files for a rival corporation. Writers Simon Boyes ("Broken") and Adam Mason ("Pig") lend a hand, which means this one might be more brutal than we are expecting.

From Exorcisms to Werewolves for "The Devil Inside" Team
"The Devil Inside" director William Brent Bell has a werewolf film heading our way soon. The project details have been tightly under wraps, but Screen Daily found out that the film now being called "Wer." All we know is that the movie will use a found footage element and that Bell has co-written the script with "Devil Inside" collaborator Matthew Peterman. Things start rolling for the cameras in Romania this April. Are you ready to see more from this team?

Paranormal Thrills in "Red Lights" Trailer
Last week we showed you the Spanish language trailer for Rodrigo Cortes' "Red Lights," but this week there's an English version. The "Buried" director sets Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, and Cillian Murphy in a psychological thriller involving a psychic and a dark mystery. Now that some of you can actually understand what the heck is being said, do Weaver and Murphy make good paranormal fraud investigators?

Killer Grizzly Bears Battle the "Red Machine"
Bloodthirsty grizzly bears in Alaska? Count us in! "Carriers" actress Piper Perabo just signed onto David Hackl's "Red Machine." The "Saw V" director leads the story about two couples who soak in the great outdoors on a camping expedition to the Last Frontier, but encounter a bear out for blood. Perabo plays a deaf photographer, while the already announced Thomas Jane ("The Mist") is an Iraq War veteran. James Marsden and Billy Bob Thornton also star.

"Intruders" Gets a Disfigured Poster
We saw the theatrical one sheet for Clive Owen's supernatural home invasion nightmare, "Intruders." We like the actor better with his eyes and mouth, but we suppose it's ok to sacrifice them in the name of horror. "28 Weeks Later" director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo tells the tale about two children who are haunted by a strange, faceless entity (Hollow Face) that wants to take possession of them. Are we the only ones who hope to see Owen beating the hell out of a ghost?

Uncool Vampire Comedy Coming Soon
Jemaine Clement of Flight of the Conchords fame will possibly team up with Academy Award nominated director Taika Waititi ("Two Cars, One Night") — who is also directing an American version of "The Inbetweeners" for MTV — for a vampire comedy six years in the making. Waititi joked to The Playlist that " … It’s taken so long that vampires are now very uncool." So far we don't know much, but the director is hopeful to finally get the project off the ground. Stay tuned for more details, this one should be fun.

Stumblin’ Slims @ Village Underground – Saturday 21st January

The team behind The Blues Kitchen – Stumblin’ Slims, offers a night of live rock n roll and blues bands and DJ intermissions which is definitely fun packed if a little exhausting!

So I donned my spotty 50s prom dress, hitched my hair into a high ponytail and set out for the night. We were double booked with social events on that night but as luck would have it they were only one street apart in the Shoreditch area of London. At just after 9pm we made our way to the rock n roll night. To our surprise we were told to come back ten minutes later, which was very odd as it was advertised as 7pm - 3am. Disappointed we went back to the party we had just left and returned to try again an hour and a half later.

We arrived when the four piece band The Black Kat Boppers were in full swing; there were eager jivers in front of the stage and a small crowd dancing behind them trying to avoid the flailing limbs! Full of spirit and style The Black Kat Boppers entertained the crowd setting the pace with the double bass and stand up drums and encouraging whoops and hollers.

After one reasonably priced G&T we realised that it took some effort not to jig along when the bopping beats were filling the large warehouse space so we ditched the drinks and hit the dance floor – which was in fact the whole venue space minus the bar and cloakroom areas.

If you didn’t have the time or the know-how to set your hair in a 50s fashion help was at hand with a stylist to complete your look for you.

Unfortunately the majority of dolls at Stumblin’ Slims were there with their cats so there was a lack of dance partners, however this did not stop us from bopping and twisting along to the band and DJ for a few hours!

The atmosphere at the venue was fun and relaxed with the girls in their vintage outfits and the guys looking just as dapper, Stumblin’ Slims transports the boogying crowd back to a more innocent time where the focus was on the music and having a good time rather than the drink.

Will I be returning? Definitely, though I will arrive slightly later to make sure my feet can last a night of none stop dancing.

"He has 'star' quality," she said.

"Trevor is the 'voice of the school,' " Violett said, adding the "mature, professional and articulate" teen reads the morning announcements on "Panther-Rama," the school's daily morning news show, and has "great energy."

She lauded him as a "positive role model for his peers."

Giving Trevor a four-star review, she added, "He is charismatic, smart and genuine. A one of a kind." Reliable and dependable, he is one of the first people Violett seeks out when she needs a student to assist her.

Once, when asked to attend an admissions meeting at North County High School for Morehouse College in Atlanta, he obliged. Impressed by the teen, Morehouse officials offered him a half-scholarship on the spot.

Morehouse, the alma mater of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., is one of the colleges he's considering. Trevor is also looking at Ithaca College and Cornell University, both a short commute from New York City and its theater scene. He has already been accepted into Ithaca's School of Humanities and Science.

"I hope to hear from Cornell and four more before making up my mind," he said. "I'm interested in pre-law, political science, government and ethics. I want to ultimately become a lawyer and become a legislative attorney or a congressional staff member."

Trevor lives with his mother and grandmother in the Annapolis Walk community. His mother, Lea Smith, is a cafeteria aide at Annapolis Middle School. Barbara Offer, his grandmother, is a legal administrative assistant at the Washington, D.C., offices of the Gray Plant Mooty law firm.

His father, Antonio Queen, and stepmother, Yvette Queen, live in Gaithersburg. Their blended family encompasses eight children.

A family friend, Phyllis Adams, has watched Trevor mature from childhood to a young adult. "His credentials already read as a young man of great promise," Adams said. "He sounds like he should be listed in 'Who's Who for Men of Promise.' " She noted Trevor is ranked in the top 15 percent of his class.

The teen is president of the school's National Honor Society chapter and is also a member of the Spanish, Music and National Thespian Honor societies. With the National Honor Society, he is part of a group, led by classmate and Vice President KiKi Coffman, who are writing letters to soldiers overseas. Along with NHS members, he is participating in this year's Relay For Life, a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, May 18 and 19, held at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds.

Though he was offered a full scholarship to a local private school, Trevor chose to attend Annapolis High's IB Program instead. "I thought colleges would be more accepting of an IB Program, which involves a lot of academic rigor and challenges," he said.

Trevor, a tenor, is active in the school's chorus and its drama program. He is currently rehearsing for his role as a male lead, Sir Harry, in the spring musical, "Once Upon a Mattress." The show runs March 9, 10, 11, 16, 17 and 18. The Friday and Saturday shows are at 7 p.m., and Sunday performances are at 2 p.m.

The show has already been selected to perform in May in the "Cappies of Baltimore," a critics and awards program for high school theater involving schools in Baltimore, Anne Arundel, southern Hartford and Howard counties. From this area, casts from Annapolis, Old Mill and Severna Park High schools have been invited.

"It's a high school equivalent of the Tony Awards," Trevor said.

At last year's Cappies, Trevor was nominated for Best Male Vocalist for his role in the Annapolis High Panthers' production of "Guys and Dolls."

Trevor plans to apply his onstage experience as a Prince Charming when he takes his girlfriend, Marylyn Hurrell, a fellow IB senior and a top-notch golfer, to the Annapolis High prom later this spring.

Trevor also has a strong interest in the legal system and politics. Sean Byrnes, with the law offices of Peter G. Angelos in Baltimore, is a current mentor. His mother's sister, Tonia Smith, is an attorney on the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Ethics. With her assistance, he was selected for an internship this past summer in the Washington, D.C., office of U.S. Rep. Marcia Fudge, a Democrat representing Ohio's District 11.

"I worked three weeks, from the end of July to early August, during the deficit crisis," Trevor said. "The second week was hell with phones ringing off the hook with constituents calling. My job was to listen to their concerns. I'd reassure them Rep. Fudge would address them as best she could." He also handled email and written correspondence from the congresswoman's constituents.

Before the August recess, Fudge sat down with Trevor and talked about why she entered politics. "The joy of answering constituents' wishes via legislation is why she got involved," Trevor said. He was surprised "how down to earth the people on Capitol Hill are. At first, I was intimidated by all the people in suits, but I learned they are people, too."

On Sundays, Trevor doesn't sleep in. He spends the morning at Holy Temple Cathedral on Bestgate Road. There, he teaches Sunday school to children, ages 2 through kindergarten.

Philip L. Greenfield, an IB theory of knowledge instructor, said, "I don't know that anyone has ever gotten more of their 'money's worth' out of the IB Program and Annapolis High in general than Trevor. He has been part of absolutely everything that we do here. He has grown as a student, a thinker, a performer and a leader." Greenfield added, "His openness to it all is an inspiration. I have had a ball teaching him."

"My career goal is to become a lawyer," Trevor said. "However, if 'American Idol' called …"
